A thin wire believed to have come into contact with the power supply system has been identified as the cause of a minor explosion involving a Rapid KL light rail transit (LRT) train at the Taman Jaya Station in Petaling Jaya bound for Putra Heights on June 30.

00:03Rapid KL said a thin wire believed to have come into contact with the power supply system
00:08has been identified as the cause of a minor explosion at a light rail transit station on
00:13Tuesday. They said the incident happened along their track involving a train at the Taman Jaya
00:19station bound for Putra Heights at 7.18pm. They said the train number 57 was immediately
00:26withdrawn from service for further inspection. They said their investigation revealed that the
00:32wire, which had melted at the scene, was not part of the train's components or the rail infrastructure.
00:38The operator said all passengers were safely disembarked at the next station before continuing
00:44their journey on another train, and they found no damage to the train or any of its components.
00:50They said they also found that the track between the University and Taman Jaya stations was in good
00:56condition and safe for operations. They said following the incident, services on the Kalana Jaya line
01:03continued to operate as usual.
