00:00Yesterday, activists representing 51 NGOs gathered at the parliament gates and met several members of parliament.
00:08I was there. A few other members of parliament were there.
00:11They presented a memorandum calling, among other things, for the establishment of a Royal Commission of Inquiry, RCI,
00:21to investigate and report on matters relating to the shareholdings of Tan Sri Azambaki and the so-called corporate mafia
00:27allegations.
00:28We, the undersigned members of parliament, wish to put forward the following three points.
00:32Now, this is what we are calling for.
00:34Number one, public disclosure of prior investigations.
00:38We call for all investigations conducted by the Madani government into Tan Sri Azambaki's shareholdings to be publicly disclosed.
00:46We understand that two such investigations have taken place to date, yet none of these findings have been made public.
00:52This report should be released to the public or, at minimum, submitted to a parliamentary committee for further review and
00:59scrutiny.
01:00We further note that on the 6th of June, 2026, last month, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department Director Dato M
01:07Kumar was reported by a few newspaper.
01:10A few newspaper reported him as saying that the two investigation papers involving Tan Sri Azambaki had been forwarded to
01:17the Attorney General Chambers for further action.
01:20Therefore, we accordingly call for the AGC to also disclose the current status of these investigations.
01:26The point number two is a public position of all MPs on the RCI.
01:31We urge all members of parliament, there are now 220 members of parliament, two have resigned, including cabinet ministers and
01:41prime minister,
01:42to publicly state whether they support an RCI into the allegations against Tan Sri Azambaki and the corporate mafia matter.
01:49We, the undersigned MPs, fully support the establishment of such an RCI.
01:54That's five out of 220 now.
01:56We encourage all 51 NGOs to press all MPs for a clear public position on this issue,
02:03particularly ahead of the upcoming Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections.
02:08It is a timely opportunity to test MPs' commitment to integrity and accountability.
02:13To that end, we suggest the 51 NGOs immediately start a name and shame campaign,
02:21giving seven days to all MPs to respond in support or against the RCI.
02:27Number three, we urge 51 NGOs to support our position regarding the Attorney General and Public Prosecutor constitutional amendments,
02:35with particular emphasis on strengthening parliament's role in scrutinising nominees for the Office of the Public Prosecutor.
02:43Because this is a good time and opportune moment for the NGOs to back this institutional reform
02:49so that effective parliamentary scrutiny becomes the norm for senior appointments,
02:54including in the future for the Chief Commissioner of the MACC.
