Queensland pubs and clubs will be allowed to serve drinks until seven in the morning when the Socceroos take on Egypt in their early morning do or die clash. The state government says it's a trial to bring fans together during the world cup and leaves the door open for more overnight celebrations in the future.

00:02FIFA fever is sweeping Queensland and the government is jumping on the green and gold bandwagon.

00:14Overhauling trading hours for one night only, allowing pubs and clubs to serve drinks between 3 and 7 o'clock
00:22this Saturday morning when the Socceroos take on Egypt.
00:26The game must be up there on the telly, people must be there to watch the game.
00:32Well I'd be getting a beer and a brekkie wrap, I can't speak for everybody else.
00:35On the streets the reaction is mixed.
00:37I'm in support of anything that is going to get people watching the sport, absolutely.
00:42I'm not sure that 7am is a very good time to be drinking.
00:46I think it's good for the game, because it's been played overseas and so on, so absolutely, why not?
00:51Football fans are packing out sports clubs in big numbers.
00:54They're turning people away, they've got people queued up constantly.
