The single-arm overhead triceps extension is an excellent isolation exercise because it trains the triceps through a long range of motion, especially the long head, which crosses the shoulder joint.

👉 Keep your elbow pointed upward.
Your upper arm should stay as close to your ear as possible throughout the movement. Avoid letting the elbow flare outward, which shifts tension away from the triceps.
👉 Brace your core.
Stand tall with your ribs down and your abdomen engaged. This prevents excessive arching of the lower back, allowing the triceps to do the work instead of your torso.
👉 Extend fully without locking out forcefully.
Press the weight upward until your arm is nearly straight while maintaining tension in the triceps. Avoid snapping your elbow into full lockout.
