00:01You can tell just how ferocious this blaze was
00:04by the fact that the metal of this factory behind me
00:08has been warped by the heat.
00:11This factory is completely gutted
00:12and you can see that the rear of the roof has also collapsed
00:17in the intensity of this blaze that broke out here around a quarter past one
00:22at Little Boundary Road in Laverton North
00:25which is about 18 kilometres west of Melbourne CBD.
00:28By the time fire crews arrived here just six minutes later
00:32this blaze was already fully involved
00:35and we know as well that firefighters have told us
00:39around 34 crew members took about half an hour to control this blaze.
00:45Luckily they managed to stop it from spreading to adjoining factories
00:50and nobody was inside this factory at the time.
00:54We have spoken to one of the neighbouring tenants, Jason Catlow
00:58and he says he's really surprised by what has happened.
01:03It's a bit of a shock.
01:04It was obviously quite an extensive fire.
01:07There's no doubt it's done a lot of damage to that property as you can see.
01:10That's Jason Catlow and he says that he actually moved out only a couple of weeks ago
01:16and was returning to meet up with cleaners here.
01:21Unfortunately there's a bit more of a job because fire crews have actually smashed his front door
01:25to be able to try to gain entry and fight this blaze.
01:29It has been treated as suspicious so arson squad detectives no doubt will be trying to have a look at
01:37some of the CCTV cameras
01:39that are positioned around this building to try to work out exactly who's responsible
01:45but they have asked that anybody who has any information should contact them.
01:49No doubt it.
