00:02I'm here in Deer Park in Melbourne's western suburbs.
00:06What we know is about 11 o'clock last night, police say offenders broke into this Asian
00:11grocery store behind me before setting the building on fire.
00:16Fire crews were quick to arrive at the scene and extinguish the blaze, and police say that
00:20no one was inside the building at the time.
00:23Now the shop neighbouring the Asian grocery store is a convenience store, and according
00:29to a notice that has been placed on the front door of the convenience store, it was shut
00:34down by Victoria Police last Friday because it's suspected of selling illicit tobacco.
00:40We spoke to a business owner who also neighbours the Asian grocery store and lives inside of
00:46his business.
00:47He was quite distressed and said he was scared when he woke up to the smell of smoke.
00:52Now this comes after the Victorian state government implemented tougher laws earlier this month
00:57to crack down on suspected illicit tobacco shop owners.
01:01Victoria Police as well as tobacco licensing inspectors now have greater powers to temporarily
01:08shut down businesses they believe are suspected of selling illicit tobacco.
01:13But for the fire behind me, police say the circumstances around the blaze remain under investigation.
01:19And we'll go to our next week, for a moment.
01:19Well, this is a very nice job that we have in all this situation.
01:21All this makes us part of the new situation.
01:21In the next week we have to general report, and we need to plan to ensure that it's very
01:23To make our town's real bad, we believe we need to say this meeting make sure that we can
01:23to and we'll be the same.
01:23We will get to the next week, and we'll be the same thing.
01:24You
