June has broken heat records for the third day in a row.

And down in Whitstable, where locals are still remembering losing water, they've now been hit with a hosepipe ban by South East Water.

Although it won't be enforced until the 3rd of July, South East Water are urging resident to comply straightaway.

Meghan Shaw reports.
Transcript
00:00It's the latest in a long line of water restrictions across the county
00:04as temporary hosepipe bans have been introduced by South East Water
00:09covering Sevenoaks, Snoddland, Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells, Ashford, Faversham, Canterbury, Whitstable and Herne Bay.
00:18This means that residents in these areas cannot use hosepipes for watering gardens,
00:23washing cars or patios or for filling swimming and paddling pools.
00:28South East Water have explained that this is due to the high temperatures
00:32but it's this when residents need hosepipes the most.
00:36Well I think that people should stop using hosepipes.
00:38I haven't used one all year because we've set up with six waterbots here
00:43and we managed to capture that downpour of the storm a few days ago
00:48and they filled up and we've still got water.
00:51So I'm watering all the plants in pots.
00:54But for Margie, who is 61 with back pain, her hosepipe allows her to water her large garden without injury.
01:01The car thing doesn't bother me but it's more the garden.
01:07So because I'm not a good lower back, picking up heavy watering cans is quite difficult.
01:16So I suppose that's the thing that worries me more than anything
01:19is having to fill up watering cans and move things around.
01:22I feel very unhappy with South East Water.
01:27Now, if you remember, it was only a month ago where the residents of Whitstable didn't have any running water.
01:33Now that a hosepipe ban is in action, could this mean that further water issues are to come for those
01:40on the seaside town?
01:41South East Water may have learnt their lesson from several water failures, explaining that these restrictions are preventative.
01:50They say they completely understand why everyone reaches for the hose when the weather gets this hot.
01:56It's natural to want to enjoy our gardens and cool down and we know how frustrating it is to hear
02:02that restrictions are coming into place.
02:04The previous heatwave in May caused distress and disruption for residents and businesses who had no water to drink or
02:14wash with.
02:15And perhaps the hosepipe is a small price to pay to ensure the taps stay running throughout a hot summer.
