The Royal British Veterans Enterprise has hosted its annual Tommy Bike Ride.

The event sees a team of cyclists travelling from RBVE's Aylesford Village to the Menin Gate in France.

The entire journey is expected to take around 150 miles and will raise funds to support veterans.

Community Reporter, Henry Luck, reports.

00:04This is just the start of the journey for this year's Tommy Ride cyclist, who will be cycling
00:11all the way to France's Menning Gate. This two-day challenge allows volunteers of the Royal British
00:20Veterans Enterprise to raise vital funds for the charity. So we put it towards our village,
00:27so there could be numerous things. So we build communities, we create jobs and we provide
00:33homes. So we'll go to all those different areas to keep our veterans safe and empower them.
00:39Because of the ongoing heatwave, the team are taking off earlier this year and have planned
00:45more breaks than usual. For the bikers, who have the support of loved ones, it's all about
00:53friendship and taking in the amazing and important sides of the journey.
00:59It's very. Some of the guys that we're riding with here today, I know personally from the village,
01:06so it's going to be quite an emotional experience.
01:09At the end of the ride, we always go for the last post of the Menning Gate and I always
01:14lay a wreath
01:15for the lads that never came back. I was on the Sagal Head and the Falklands and I lost 42
01:21comrades.
01:22So it's always nice to pay my respects for the lads that never came back. And yeah, it's very daunting,
01:30but it's worthwhile.
01:32While the heatwave may present an extra challenge, it's definitely not stopping this team from helping the RBVE.
