00:10Kazachstan is bringing artificial intelligence into classrooms as part of its drive to build a digital economy.
00:16President Kasimzumar Tokaev has tasked the government with adopting an AI in schools roadmap by July 1st.
00:22The initiative will begin by narrowing the gap between urban and rural education,
00:27expanding access to modern learning tools for students across the country.
00:33Welcome to EastWestConnect.
00:35We're highlighting business and economic opportunities in Kazakhstan and the wider Central Asian region,
00:40connecting with Europe and beyond.
00:42This September, the government will launch a pilot project to equip 500 understaffed rural schools
00:49with reliable high-speed internet and modern technology,
00:52with implementation running through May 2027 ahead of a nationwide rollout.
00:57Teachers will deliver live and recorded lessons remotely to students in rural schools
01:02supported by a national AI platform that tracks performance and identifies struggling learners.
01:08Building on this digital push in education,
01:11more than 350,000 teachers have already completed AI training programs,
01:15while over 100,000 have gained access to OpenAI's GBT-EDU platform for classroom use.
01:21By 2029, these measures are expected to reduce the number of underperforming students,
01:26ease administrative workloads for teachers, and expand personalized learning across the system.
01:32To discuss how this initiative will be implemented,
01:35we are joined by Sergei Kampaniyaz, Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Enlightenment.
01:41Mr. Kampaniyaz, welcome to the program.
01:43Thank you.
01:43What gives you the confidence that these rural schools are ready to adapt AI successfully?
01:50When we selected these 500 schools for pilot,
01:53we were not only from the technical and infrastructure preparation of schools,
01:58but from the perspective of the pedagogical and organizational preparation of schools
02:03to launch new technologies.
02:05Here we have to understand that the dual education system will be used,
02:10that is, the manager, the teacher, the teacher will be in online online online,
02:15in an online classroom,
02:16to be at several small-completten schools at the same time.
02:19The teacher, who is located in the local school,
02:21will be responsible for the organizational questions,
02:23will help children to learn about the materials.
02:27So the mission of the purpose is,
02:28to improve the best of our country's learning students,
02:31to be accessible to our kids,
04:04Dziękuję.
04:06A pilot project is already underway in Astana.
04:10Here is the story.
04:13State school number 101 in Astana
04:16has started tracking pupils' learning progress
04:18in real time using artificial intelligence.
04:20Student activity is analyzed through smart cameras
04:23and audio tools in classroom,
04:25as well as through work completed on tablets
04:27producing valuable feedback for teachers.
04:30Students are also equipped with high-performance computers,
04:323D printers, 3D pens and drones
04:34to develop practical digital skills.
04:55Beyond the classroom artificial intelligence is also being used to monitor our students' well-being
04:59and help identify signs of bullying,
05:02alerting teachers and enabling faster responses
05:04to create a safer learning environment.
05:07The first platform was tested for video analysis of behavior,
05:11to counteract bullying.
05:14According to our school, cameras are connected to this system.
05:16According to our school, the cameras are connected to this system.
05:17The cameras are connected to this system.
05:18The cameras are connected to this system.
05:19The 8-second video will immediately appear.
05:23The pilot is among a growing number of initiatives testing how AI can support both learning outcomes
05:29and students' welfare as Kazakhstan prepares for a broader rollout
05:33of artificial intelligence across its educational system.
05:38Joining us now is Soltanad Jumabaeva, director at the Ebrilton-Siden National Academy of Education.
05:46Ms. Jumabaeva, welcome to the studio.
05:49How could the introduction of AI in schools help improve productivity
05:53and learning outcomes among both students and teachers?
05:56It is not only better, but it allows us to provide the opportunity to
06:03to both teachers and teachers to solve their internal, individual needs.
06:10And thus, possibly, to be able to go to personalized education.
06:14AI is an instrument that is an instrument that if the teacher and teacher will always use the rules,
06:21which will be developed for everyone, and they will follow these rules,
06:26so that they will find a compromise between each other.
06:30So how can schools prevent over-reliance on technology
06:33and preserve critical thinking and analytical skills among pupils?
06:37The education for the teachers is separate.
06:39Then, the education for the students.
06:42And these ethical principles, the methods of using this instrument
06:48are precisely allowed to maintain the balance between them
06:52and properly regulate the learning process.
06:55The child must think himself.
06:57The child must analyze information, the data, the data, and find the data.
07:02And when the teacher gives this information, the most important task of the teacher is to find his point of
07:09view,
07:10to compare, to compare, to analyze.
07:12Could these developments help strengthen rather than weaken the relationship between teachers and students?
07:17In class, we have very different students.
07:20And for the students to be effective, with the artificial intelligence,
07:26we can also reach a different students.
07:29To be able to give them a more difficult task.
07:32To give them more complicated tasks.
07:36To be able to determine their individual needs.
07:53That's all for now. See you in the next episode of East West Connect.
07:57.
