00:21Our first story, new FCRA rules bring stricter compliance for NGOs.
00:26The Government of India has introduced new amendments to the Foreign Contribution Regulation
00:31Rules, strengthening compliance requirements for NGOs receiving foreign funding.
00:36Under the revised framework, organizations must now disclose social media accounts,
00:40specify their approved activities and identify the states where they intend to operate.
00:45NGOs will also need to provide more detailed annual reports and disclose the ultimate source
00:51of foreign contributions received through intermediary funding channels.
00:55The Government says these changes aim to improve transparency, accountability and traceability
01:00of foreign funds. However, the amendments have also reignited discussions around balancing
01:05regulatory oversight with the autonomy of civil society organizations.
01:10Moving ahead to our next story, IIT Madras hands over indigenous wheelchairs to Army Hospital.
01:17IIT Madras has delivered the first batch of 25 indigenously developed ultra-lightweight wheelchairs
01:23to the Army Hospital Research and Referral in Delhi. The initiative is part of a CSR partnership
01:29funded by FISERV and aims to provide 100 wheelchairs in total for veterans serving personnel and their
01:36families. Developed by IIT Madras and its incubated startup Thrive Mobility, the wheelchairs are designed
01:43for independent mobility and rehabilitation support. The project showcases how CSR partnerships
01:48can drive innovation while creating meaningful social impact.
01:52Moving to environmental sustainability, NTPC supports education infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh.
01:57NTPC has strengthened educational infrastructure at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya in Arunachal Pradesh through
02:04a CSR investment of 1.80 crore rupees. The initiative included the construction of modern science laboratories,
02:11a library and five new classrooms to improve learning opportunities for students. Local leaders described the
02:17facilities as a major step towards strengthening STEM education, promoting reading habits and enhancing academic
02:24excellence in the region. NTPC reiterated its commitment to supporting long-term social development
02:30through education-focused CSR initiatives. Moving ahead to our next story, Himachal Pradesh promotes CSR-based
02:37forest adoption. The Himachal Pradesh Forest Department has signed CSR agreements with two hospitality
02:43companies under the Rajiv Gandhi Green Adoption Scheme. Under the initiative, the companies will fund
02:49plantation and maintenance activities across designated forest areas for the next five years. The scheme aims to
02:55increase forest cover, strengthen biodiversity conservation, improve climate resilience and
03:00generate livelihood opportunities for local communities while encouraging private sector
03:04participation in environmental restoration. Moving to our final story, Finovation Project Spotlight,
03:11Sustainable Agriculture in Odisha. In today's Finovation Project Spotlight, we feature a sustainable
03:17agriculture initiative implemented in Raya Gada, Odisha. Finovation partnered with a leading chemical
03:22manufacturing company to support over 1,300 farmers through training on sustainable farming practices,
03:30efficient use of resources, efficient use of resources, pest management, improved sowing techniques and modern agricultural
03:36tools. Finovation also conducted independent monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment to measure the project's
03:43effectiveness and social impact. Following the success of the first phase, the program is extended for another
03:49two years with a focus on sustainability and strengthening rural livelihoods. The initiative highlights how CSR can
03:57empower farming communities through skill development and sustainable agriculture.
