From Manhattanhenge in New York City to the first meteor showers of the summer, here are the top astronomy events to mark on your calendar in July.
Transcript
00:00Four of the coolest things you'll see in the sky this July, a sunset that takes over New York City,
00:04the Milky Way at its brightest, a full buck moon and back to back meteor showers. First up, Manhattan Henge.
00:10On July 11th and 12th, the setting sun lines up perfectly with New York City's street grid, creating one of
00:16the most photographed sunsets of the year, as long as the weather cooperates. Then around the new moon on July
00:2114th, you'll have your best chance to see the Milky Way. The darker the sky, the better. So head away
00:26from city lights for the best view. The buck moon rises on July 12th,
00:30followed the very next night by two meteor showers peaking together. A bright moon will wash out many of the
00:35fainter meteors this year, but you should still be able to catch some of the brighter shooting stars. Which one
00:40are you adding to your calendar?
