00:00Now we go live to the state of La Guayra where our colleague Luis Guillermo Garcia is going
00:04to give us the update.
00:08I came here as a volunteer with my whole heart to try to help since today that they allowed
00:16me to come here and delivering water, food to the people.
00:25I came from Carrizara to here to La Guayra to bring food and medicine to the people who
00:29need it.
00:35This Colombian compatriot that has come to bring water and food for the people and like
00:40this there's a lot of things happening in the state of La Guayra.
00:46There's a battalion soldiers here from the National Armed Forces and workers from public
00:55jobs, from regional and national authorities.
01:06The important thing is that everybody is joining together in a multidisciplinary activity to
01:18assure rescue labor.
01:26We have been joining this rescue effort for 20 hours.
01:30It's almost an hour and a complete day and there are some people alive beneath the rubble.
01:36The thing is that there are concrete blockers and iron sticks that increase the difficulty
01:48to reach the people that are still trapped.
01:52Over there we can see the kitchen that we know there's a person there but they haven't been
02:04able to reach them because of the difficulty of getting there, of the weight of the cement
02:10and pluckers above there.
02:14In the meantime they have been trying to remove concrete pluckers to facilitate the work.
02:21And just like this place there's a lot of more collapsed buildings that is full with volunteers,
02:28with authorities, with rescue crews.
02:34There's people who are calling for us to be quiet so you can listen to the voices of the people
02:40trapped so they can call for help.
02:45All these people in motorcycles are coming here to bring solidarity aid as we can see they're
02:54carrying water and food.
03:03They're carrying food, they're carrying water, they're bringing solidarity aid for the affected
03:08people of La Guaira state.
03:15This is something inside the tragedy, this is something truly beautiful.
03:25So, we see that the people from the state-owned companies bring food, people a battalion of motorcycles
03:36have come as volunteers to bring help to the people of La Guaira.
03:43There's no electricity since yesterday in La Guaira.
03:52There's a couple of things that are being donated to be able to advance.
04:01These are mobilized people from Caracas, it's a battalion, an army of motorcycles.
04:12This has become, they have become one of the angels of these people.
04:21They're bringing all kinds of stuff, they're bringing water, food, fruits.
04:29Let's see if I have the chance to talk to some of them.
04:43Lucina, what are you doing?
04:45We're doing our social labor to bring stuff for the people who need it.
04:49We're going to deliver water, food.
04:52We are bringing support for these people.
04:56Through WhatsApp, we're joining through WhatsApp.
05:05Sometimes we don't think anything else is coming along, but we can see permanent mobilization.
05:13These are volunteers.
05:16Let's see who else can tell me something.
05:20What's your name?
05:21Francisco.
05:22I'm from Guatile.
05:28I'm here giving support.
05:36I came through an institution, but I don't know the name.
05:45Success.
05:46Well, now we have here this job, a process of rescue, search of rescue, where there's a
05:56lot of authorities coming from civil protection, from the army, from the national armed forces,
06:04from the police, all kinds of volunteers, and this solidarity movement, we can see here.
06:14They're coming.
06:15They're coming.
06:16They're trying to listen.
06:17If there's somebody there, there's somebody here that they're trying to rescue somebody
06:31who's alive.
06:32They know their service is hard to reach them, but they know they are there.
06:36They're trying to remove debris slowly to get to the people.
06:41This is a really dynamism that is developing here, here in the side of La Guayra, in the
06:48north area of the Republic of Venezuela.
06:52After the two powerful earthquakes that we experienced on June 24th, one of 7.2 and on 7.5, that
07:02have
07:02greatly affected not only La Guayra, but also our parts of the center and central west of
07:09the country, there has been a very hard situation.
07:14We have the nature against us, but we can see how the human beings have come together in
07:23this situation with strength, with unity, with solidarity.
07:27We'll go back to the studies with more information.
07:34We have been looking at these images from the state of La Guayra and talking with our colleague
07:38from the ground that has been telling us about the search and rescue operations that have
07:43been going on.
07:43The people who are still alive trapped beneath the rubble and the people who are still trapped
07:51beneath the rubble that are still alive, but mostly the solidarity shows all over the
07:58country.
08:00We saw hundreds of motorized people arriving from Caracas, from other cities to La Guayra
08:07to bring solidarity, aid, bringing water, bringing food, bringing fruits, and just in general trying
08:16to help and doing what they call a social labor for the people of La Guayra.
08:25We have been able to appreciate all the people in motorcycles.
08:30Like they say, they organize through WhatsApp groups and they have activated themselves.
08:36A change reaction has been activated.
08:39I don't know if there's some kind of center to receive solidarity or to receive food.
08:51We know at the start of La Guayra there's a multiple sports center.
09:00There's a mobile point of military aid.
09:06They have done triage, operations, medical assistance.
09:13A kind of cooperation that if somebody requires any kind of help, they can receive any kind of information
09:25following trauma.
09:28This information was being explained to us by the doctor that a lot of these people are still
09:33beneath the rubble and they have a lot of crashes and trauma from being beneath the rubble.
09:43And there's also a lot of psychological damage.
09:48So anyway, right now there's a lot of factors that need to take into account.
09:54That is not only the armed forces, but there's a lot of people trying to balance all the aid that
10:03is being received here.
10:04Unfortunately, there's been a history of pain, but at the same time of moving forward.
10:14This is the known tragedy of Avila and La Guayra that allowed them to move forward.
10:25And now with this earthquake, I'm sure that people are going to move forward like they did before.
10:31I'm going to move forward.
