Johor Barisan Nasional has unveiled its line-up of candidates for the 16th Johor state election, fielding a mix of experienced incumbents and fresh faces across all 56 state seats.

The candidate list, comprising 37 UMNO candidates, 15 from MCA and four from MIC, was announced by Johor BN chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi on Wednesday (June 24).

00:19The candidate list, comprising 37 UMNO candidates, 15 from MCA and 4 from MIC,
00:25was announced by Johor BN Chairman Datuk On Hafiz Ghazi during a ceremony in Johor Bahru on Wednesday.
00:33On Hafiz said the selection received the mandate and approval of BN Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
00:40The Johor Menteri Besar will defend the match-up seat, which he won in the 2022 state election.
00:50Among the notable names is former Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba,
00:56who has been nominated to contest the Pasir Raja seat.
00:59Adham previously served as Pasir Raja Assemblyman for two terms from 2008 to 2018
01:06and as Tenggara MP from 2004 to 2008 and again from 2018 to 2022.
01:14In Benut, former Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Hasni Mohamad was not selected to defend the seat.
01:21Instead, BN has fielded UMNO Working Secretary Datuk Mohamad Sumali Reduan.
01:27Meanwhile, nine of the ten former Johor Executive Councilors who contested in the 2022 state election have been retained.
01:36On Hafiz also reminded all candidates to conduct their campaigns professionally and respectfully
01:42in line with the values and expectations of Johor voters.
