01:25All right, let's take a look at the Rays lineup.
01:28Someone who makes things happen for them, in part with his legs.

01:32Hey, Boo, you and I were talking about him before the game.
01:34He's got good speed.
01:36And if you watch him in this game, he's that type of guy that's very smart.
01:40He doesn't have this just eye-popping speed, but he knows how to use it.
01:44And he's very intelligent on the base pass to get to the next base, to get around the bases,
01:48and ultimately score runs.
01:50His home run numbers stand out, Chris.
01:52Just nobody has hit more in his team.
01:56Ball in.
01:58Meyer, 27 years old.
02:00A former first-round pick in 2020.
02:21Struck him out swinging.
02:24Chased the fastball up the ladder for a strike three.
02:27That's tough.
02:28You see it well.
02:28I mean, that was clearly up and out of the strike zone,
02:31but that's one of the hardest things, that when you see a pitch out of the hand at eye level,
02:36that discipline to remember, I can't hit that pitch.
02:39If I can see it really well at eye level, I can't catch up to that pitch
02:43when a pitcher's got this kind of velocity.
02:50Well struck right field.
02:53Carrying well.
02:54And it is gone.
02:58He'll circle the bases.

03:04Singy, he's got a nice hitting streak going,
03:06and he extends it another game with that swing.

03:11Clearly, it's not like he's just stringing singles together during this streak.
03:15That slider on the outside part of the plate is typically hit the other way,
03:19but to be able to get to it, pull the baseball,
03:22and get it up in the air for a home run,
03:24but I'm just really impressed.

03:45All right, now, he may have not liked either of those first two pitches
03:48or agreed with the umpire's calls,
03:50but at this point, he's going to have to bear down

22:35velocity and add a little movement
22:38struck him out looking frustrating
22:41end to the bat for the hitter and I'm
22:43sure that's going to sit on him for a
22:45little while you want to be ready to
22:47hit the fastball sometimes you can
22:48overthink things and I think that was
22:50the case right there
22:55Fortes in the box with two gone and
22:57takes a look at a called strike
23:13two down nobody on this to third knocks
23:19it down throw sales over his head at
23:23first and this ball is going to wind up
23:25out of play but you can't give him two
23:27errors on that play but that's pretty
23:29much what it looked like trying to stay
23:31with it after the bobble and it might
23:33have pulled it off with a good throw
23:34but it's very easy to rush the throw
23:37when you don't feel that cleanly a lot
23:39of times guys don't have a good grip on
23:41it and I think that was the case right
23:43there

26:31of the box right there to make that triple happen and just an absolute laser into the opposite field gap

26:55way of the plate not in time he's safe it's three three what a time to miss the cutoff move
27:02if he puts that throw in the money they've got a chance to get that runner at home instead of
27:07the critical run scores that can swing to the money that's going to be in the prize
27:09this game holly for the second time and that strike one right through there for a strike
27:25excellent arm action on that two strike change up just missed man he wanted that call
27:33he's really tightening up his hitting zone with two strikes here i love it
27:41it spoils the two strike pitch and he'll see another

27:51swing and a ball hit out towards left center field it gets down a base hit around first and hustling
27:57for second the relay in there safely gotta love the resiliency shown in that at bat battling with
28:05two strikes put a really nice balanced swing on it and when you can rope one into the gap like
28:11that
28:11you're thinking extra bases from the first couple of steps out of the box and he'll feel real good
28:16about that one late swing foul to the left
28:21man at second in the air left field base hit here comes the runner fires to the plate safe and
28:31the
28:31runner from second scores on the play it's 4-3 well there you go the rbi machine another clutch run
28:40scoring at bat yeah he's been so good in these situations call it clutch if you want but his
28:46resume speaks for itself stowers the next to hit takes ball one

29:09throw in hopes the lead runner at second two on now with two away up next for the marlin
29:24job of driving that pitch the other way on the line you know hitters they take so many reps in
29:29the cages work base hit headed to the plate the throw in it's off the mark and he scores
29:37well done drives in the run got a fastball middle of the plate jumped all over it absolutely smoked that
29:44ball first and second two outs connor north the next up for the marlins
29:51well a really rough inning out there on the mound and uh this is one of those where you learn

29:56about a guy's toughness and his ability to turn the page and keep pressing forward and chris his
30:01home run numbers this season are good enough to rank him in the top 10 in the lead base hit

30:07outfield plays the play many times he's safe and they lead by three well when you fall behind in the
30:14calendar you've got to come into the zone and then guys have a better chance of hitting the ball hard
30:26like he did right there

30:34the marlins trying to break this one open we're here at the bottom of the fourth that one the
30:40other way can't reach it this should score at least one one run across rounds third headed for the plate

31:56comes through with the rbi anytime you smoke a ball off the wall you kind of think about what it

32:02have been but obviously you have to be happy with that result
32:16that's the third camonero that one ends the onslaught and the inning so they bat around and score

32:29one back here in miami here's the raised lead off hitter chandler simpson
32:38swing and a ball hit out towards left center field touches down that's a hit man aboard on the lead
32:46off single up next for tampa bay the third baseman number 13 junior
32:56first offering way inside almost got him
33:10this one smoked on its way out of here
33:19a laser to left home run number 15 on the year and they cut into the deficit that one just

33:28different and might have been the loudest moment yet man my ears are ringing i could feel that swing
33:33from the booth there was a sinker up in the zone it looked like it came out of the pitcher's

33:38bit too early doesn't have the velocity that that good four seam fastball does and at the plate he didn't

34:02well these rays doing a good job of simply getting the bat on the ball in this game and the
34:07numbers
34:07back that up despite having nine hits in the game the numbers don't exactly jump off the page in terms
34:13of exit velocity nearly half have been traveling less than 90 miles per hour off the bat but they're
34:18finding a way to get it done the ball takes it himself and that's the first down nice recovery
34:23after giving up the homer
34:31now here's a flare off the bat that's a base hit and that's a one-out single
34:36you know i was watching his rounds during batting practice today so impressed with his ability to let
34:44the ball travel go back up the middle and the other way sometimes when you step in the box during
34:49the game
34:49you get a little anxious and you get away from that but so far i've seen him stay consistent with
34:54his
34:54pre-game preparation
35:01in the air right field pretty well struck carrying well gone way up into the upper deck
35:10another homer his second home run of the game and they close the gap it's nine seven
35:18he absolutely crushed that one no doubt about that one boog we knew it wasn't coming back
35:25a surprise performance here you don't expect this kind of power from him but he's proven everyone
35:31wrong with a multi-home run game here comes a skipper out of the dugout and he's ready to make
35:36the move
35:36max meyer is done two-run ball game as he heads for the dugout and we'll be back with a
35:42new pitcher
35:50now on the ball tyler phillips he last pitched two days ago
36:00jake fraley next to hit for the rays one for two
36:06ball that's low
36:15on the ground right side and that chance handle throws the first in time
36:25up next for tampa bay the center fielder johnny
36:33and ball one miami's bullpen with some action jesus tinoco the hard-throwing righty is up and
36:39loosening bocker getting cranked up as well
36:44this one in the air center field marcy gets under it he makes the grab and that is that
36:52but two round trippers in this inning the long ball was working it's now a
36:57nine seven ball game back after this on the show
37:04back here at the ballpark let's check out the latest news from around the league
37:18first pitch and he has to get out of the way
37:31here's a 2-0 oh that one almost gets him again
37:40strike to the outside corner three and one
37:46foul ball
37:51three and two now stays alive flew open a little bit with that front shoulder but
37:58was able to slow his back down just enough to make contact with that pitch
38:02keep the bat alive swing and a miss struck him out and there's one down
38:08up next for the marlin the first baseman number 21
38:14way inside gets out of the way
38:35straightened him up a little bit
38:43and there's the automatic well a good slider from an opposite-handed pitcher has to stay in that
38:48tunnel just a little bit longer otherwise recognition can cause you to barrel it up
38:52and right there the hitter clearly couldn't do anything with it
38:56up he keeps the effect going with a foul ball
39:01pay off pitch
39:04and a foul ball he stays alive
39:09three two strength three and that's two in a row he'll challenge thought that
39:16was a ball I guarantee he's gonna check the tape on that last page when he gets
39:20a chance because he follows ball four and he wasn't wrong it is a close pitch
39:23definitely not an easy call but especially after a long at-bat that'll
39:27drive you crazy getting rung up like that
39:32Edwards in the box with one away as he takes ball one really close pitch down
39:37around the knees there and you could see him asking where it missed probably
39:41doesn't agree but it appears he's ready to move on to the next pitch that's ball
39:48two
39:53that's off the water and that's ball three
39:59and ball four to a board second walk of the game for him and he's been really
40:04patient at the play the game plan that he's sticking to he's just not going
40:08outside of what he's looking for up there
40:13swings through that one for strike one there was a high-velocity fastball in
40:17the zone I think a little frustration from walking a previous hitter it's got
40:21good stuff pitch inside the zone and trust it
40:26ball one
40:38runners at first and second with one gone last half of inning number five this
40:44one in the air right field that gets by him coming home
40:51one run is in another comes in to score and they're up by four nicely done brings home
41:00two didn't try to do too much with it just a really controlled simple swing we
41:05don't see a whole lot of that these days with hitters trying to launch and hit
41:08home runs but sometimes you got to shorten up just like that
41:15now let's step off to third and he's back in safely
41:21now at the plate ariberto hernandez
41:35just missed two walks in the inning already and he just doesn't seem
41:40comfortable out there like he can find the right mechanics and then repeat
41:44them and ball four to a boy you get a walk and you get a walk everyone gets a
41:51walk
41:57hard grounder into the outfield for a knock runner in from third to extend their
42:02lead it's an RBI single and now it's twelve to seven makes himself up at RBI
42:08time it on the swing was good able to shoot the ball up the middle didn't
42:12square it up as much as he probably would have liked but that's a good approach
42:16paying off oh and this one gets away
42:20norby up to second runner at third hold so both runners are now in scoring
42:24position
42:27and that misses and the count is two and oh
42:34upstairs upstairs not really attack it on the mound in this at bat all breaking
42:39balls so that makes me think they're not really wanting to challenge him here
42:43fernandez the runner at third norby over at second with one down base hit one run is in
42:49now a relay to the plate he's safe at home it's 14 to seven
42:57here's the shortstop at the plate Otto Lopez
43:07manager out of the dugout now and it looks like we'll see a change on the mound
43:25now picking for pitching change here Mason angler I think it's got to be a
43:30little tough coming in out of the pen when your guys are trailing so big on the
43:34scoreboard just doesn't have the same intensity to it but he's got to find a
43:39way because these batters count the same for his stats obviously regardless of
43:43the score
43:49now this one gets away from the catcher throws the second and now a man in the
43:57scoring position
44:05the pitcher on here your injuries Gomez he's pitching on two days rest
44:14swings and this one's flair that's a base hit into third now so runners at the corners and
44:21wrong definitely found a perfect spot those could be hard sometimes we talked about
44:25in left field you're kind of anticipating cheating in for a ball
44:30hits and meanwhile that pitch is off the catcher's mitt it squirts away
44:36Lopez up to second runner at third hold so both runners are now in scoring position

44:47runners hold count moves to 2-0
