00:03These shoes might look a little strange, but they could be a game changer for the visually
00:08impaired and their autonomy. These are what TechInnovation, the company behind the product,
00:12are calling Enomake. Their shoes fitted with ultrasound emitters, which send out waves of
00:17sound that bounce back to the shoes, where the information is then crunched by the device's
00:21algorithm, alerting the wearer of unseen objects by way of a vibration on the foot or a smartphone
00:26warning, and it can provide information to the user of obstacles at a distance of up to around 13
00:31feet away, much further than traditional methods like a cane, which only give you a couple of feet
00:36of notice, when obstacles might already be too late to avoid. TechInnovation says the device may be used
00:42without a cane at all, as long as the user is walking around familiar territory, and the company's
00:46CEO, Marcus Raffer, can likely testify to that, as he's only had about 3-4% of his vision since
00:52birth.
00:52The shoes are now being sold for just over $4,600.
