00:01:10Ladies and gentlemen, this time we will discuss a lecture by Shaikh Ahmed Didat

00:01:15specifically entitled Challenge of Islam.

00:01:18The important thing here is that, besides addressing missionaries,

00:01:22Shaikh Didat teaches Muslims how to argue with them.

00:01:24The method is very subtle, yet it directly penetrates the Christians' minds.

00:01:49Mr. Chairman and my dear brothers and sisters, the subject, as the chairman has announced

00:02:00to you, is the challenge of Islam.

00:02:04See, Islam is a challenge to all the other isms, and most specially to the Jews and the Christians.

00:02:16There is a very close relationship between the teaching of Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad.

00:02:23May the peace of Allah be upon them all.

00:02:26Or between Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

00:02:31And as soon as our Nabi-e-Kareem, Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, began to preach,

00:02:36more specially in Madinah, the Christians and the Jews, they strongly opposed his preachings,

00:02:47telling the Muslims that you follow this Ummi Prophet, a person who doesn't know how to read or write,

00:02:56He will only misguide you, you want to be right with God, you want Jannah, you want salvation,

00:03:04in that case, follow us.

00:03:07So Allah reminds us in the Holy Quran, He says,

00:03:11وَلَن تَرْضَ أَنْكَ الْيَهُودُ وَلَنْ نَصَارَ حَتَّى تَتَّبْيَ مِلَّتَهُمْ

00:03:18That, O Muslims, the Jews and the Christians will never, never be satisfied with you,

00:03:25unless you follow the brand of religion.

00:03:30And this statement, statement of fact, is evident.

00:03:37Wherever you go, the Jews have fallen out of the race in wanting to convert us.

00:03:44They have made the religion a racial religion.

00:03:47The only thing they want from us is to accept the rights to Palestine that rob our brethren

00:03:55of the country of Palestine and give it to the Jews.

00:03:59They will be satisfied with us.

00:04:01They do not want to convert anybody into their faith.

00:04:04Their faith is now a racial religion.

00:04:07You have to be born a Jew to be a Jew.

00:04:10And in case you fall in love with a Jewish girl,

00:04:12and if she is particular, she wants you to be converted.

00:04:17So you'll have to go through all the processes.

00:04:19And eventually, you are circumcised and converted.

00:04:24You'll still remain a third grade Jew.

00:04:26They do not accept you.

00:04:28They want political recognition.

00:04:31That's all.

00:04:32But the Christian is foremost in wanting to change our people,

00:04:37to convert our people to his way of life.

00:04:40And in that, there are more than a thousand different churches and denominations.

00:04:44Each and everyone is looking for converts.

00:04:48The majority of my brethren that I see before me here

00:04:52seem to hail from the Indo-Pakistan subcontinent,

00:04:56the undivided India.

00:04:58That's what I see.

00:05:00Now, the first experience we had of this challenge or this opposition

00:05:08was soon after the British conquest of India.

00:05:13When the British conquered India,

00:05:18they realized that at any time,

00:05:21anybody will give them trouble, it will be the Muslims.

00:05:24Because power, rule, dominion was wrenched out of their hands.

00:05:28And they were a militant people.

00:05:30Sooner or later, they will aspire to get power once more again.

00:05:36So, if they can convert the Muslims,

00:05:39if they can change them to accept Christianity,

00:05:43teach them to turn the other cheek,

00:05:46as their Lord, Jesus, had told them,

00:05:50that if they strike you on the right cheek, give them the other.

00:05:53Teach the Indian people, the mundane Muslims,

00:05:55to turn the other cheek,

00:05:56then you can rule India for a thousand years.

00:06:00From the Hindus of the time,

00:06:02they had no fear.

00:06:05Because they were as docile,

00:06:07sheepish, as the cows that they were worshipping.

00:06:10No fear from them.

00:06:11It was the Muslim who was a danger.

00:06:13So, they went out on their mission,

00:06:15into India,

00:06:16of wanting to convert our people,

00:06:18the Muslims of India.

00:06:19And they started pouring in their missionaries,

00:06:22into India,

00:06:23like frogs in the rainy season.

00:06:28And they started challenging the Muslims to public debates.

00:06:33At first, the Muslims were reluctant.

00:06:36These people had just conquered us.

00:06:37If you speak a bit too militantly,

00:06:40they might capture you,

00:06:41and send you to the Andaman Islands,

00:06:43Kalapani, black waters.

00:06:45Like Robben Island in South Africa.

00:06:47Talk too much, Robben Island.

00:06:49Talk too much, Andaman Islands.

00:06:52You want to go there?

00:06:53No.

00:07:13they want to speak to us in our language.

00:07:19Mawlana Abdul Aziz of Delhi,

00:07:20to accept this challenge.

00:07:22And there was a reverend founder from Britain,

00:07:24an Englishman,

00:07:26reverend founder,

00:07:27who was taking a lead,

00:07:28in this jihad against the Muslims of India.

00:07:34And a debate takes place.

00:07:39In Delhi.

00:07:41And according to reports,

00:07:43I was reading,

00:07:45in the Isharul Haq,

00:07:47a beautiful book,

00:07:48which brought me to this position here.

00:07:50That book gave me the knowledge,

00:07:53that brought me into confrontation with the Christians,

00:07:56and to be able to start discussing and having dialogues with them.

00:08:41the Mawlana responded,

00:08:42that you see,

00:08:43you are our elder brother.

00:08:46Christianity preceded Islam,

00:08:48by six hundred years.

00:08:49As such,

00:08:49you are six hundred years,

00:08:50our senior.

00:08:51And according to our culture,

00:08:54you have the first preference.

00:08:58Secondly,

00:08:59you are our guest.

00:09:00You are our guest.

00:09:02No doubt,

00:09:02an unwelcome guest,

00:09:04but a guest at that.

00:09:05And according to our culture,

00:09:07you have the first preference.

00:09:09So,

00:09:10the reverend founder,

00:09:11was forced,

00:09:12to start the debate.

00:09:13And he started,

00:09:14with a question.

00:09:15It was all worked out.

00:09:17In Urdu.

00:09:19Said,

00:09:19Mawlana Sahib,

00:09:21respected Mawlana,

00:09:23where is your Prophet Muhammad,

00:09:25now,

00:09:26this moment,

00:09:28where is he?

00:09:30So,

00:09:31the Mawlana thought for a moment,

00:09:32and he said,

00:09:33that he is in Jannatul Firdaus,

00:09:35heavenly bliss,

00:09:36with Allah Bari Ta'ala.

00:09:38Out of that answer,

00:09:40came the second question.

00:09:42Said,

00:09:42alright,

00:09:43alright,

00:09:44Mawlana Sahib,

00:09:45tell us.

00:09:47Where was he,

00:09:48when his grandson,

00:09:49Hussein,

00:09:49was martyred at Karbala?

00:09:51Where was he then?

00:09:54Sayyidi Mawlana,

00:09:55again thought for a moment,

00:09:57and he said,

00:09:57he was still in Jannatul Firdaus,

00:09:59heavenly bliss,

00:10:02with Allah Bari Ta'ala.

00:10:05came the third question.

00:10:12that if your Prophet,

00:10:17was being butchered,

00:10:19martyred at Karbala,

00:10:21didn't he ask his Allah for help?

00:10:23Ya Bari Ta'ala,

00:10:24look what they're doing to my grandchild,

00:10:26please help him out of his difficulty.

00:10:28Didn't he cry out for help,

00:10:29to Allah?

00:10:32And there was a long pause,

00:10:37long pause,

00:10:38and the reverend couldn't hold his peace,

00:10:40says,

00:10:41started banging his feet,

00:10:42come on,

00:10:43didn't he ask his Allah for help?

00:10:46So the Mawlana said,

00:10:48yes,

00:10:48he did.

00:10:50And so what did he say?

00:10:52What did Allah say?

00:10:53Because we know,

00:10:54he was in help.

00:10:55What did he say?

00:10:56And there was an inordinate pause,

00:10:57an extra long pause.

00:10:59And again,

00:11:01the reverend couldn't hold his peace,

00:11:02started stamping his feet,

00:11:03said,

00:11:03come on,

00:11:04come on,

00:11:04he thought he had to kill,

00:11:05and the people also felt,

00:11:06that the Mawlana got us,

00:11:09chopped off,

00:11:11he said,

00:11:13come on,

00:11:14come on.

00:11:15So the Mawlana says,

00:11:17that Allah cried,

00:11:20Allah cried,

00:11:21so what?

00:11:22Allah cried?

00:11:23He says,

00:11:24yes,

00:11:24Allah cried,

00:11:25he said,

00:11:25I couldn't save my own son Jesus,

00:11:27how can I save your grandson?

00:11:37And the debate was over.

00:11:39And the debate was over.

00:11:41You see,

00:11:42it was only a matching of the width.

00:11:44It has nothing to do with facts.

00:11:47This is one trying to be cleverer than the other.

00:11:50As the saying goes,

00:11:53that twice armed is he,

00:11:55whose cause is just.

00:11:57If you are on the right path,

00:11:58your strength is double,

00:11:59because you know you're fighting for your rights.

00:12:01Twice armed is he,

00:12:03whose cause is just.

00:12:05But twice armed is he,

00:12:06who gets in first.

00:12:08Like our Jewish cousins,

00:12:09every time,

00:12:10you know,

00:12:10we go into battle in 48,

00:12:11the guy gave us a hand.

00:12:17the Muslims took the initiative,

00:13:01If the Spanish were ruling us,

00:13:03we would be speaking Spanish.

00:13:03Can't you see?

00:13:05You are all English-speaking people.

00:13:07What for?

00:13:08Because they ruled us.

00:13:10They are the one who created us,

00:13:12that we can talk to them in their own mother tongue now.

00:13:15Another example from this book,

00:13:18I've had another confrontation.

00:13:20You see,

00:13:21the Christian missionaries,

00:13:23they have the patience,

00:13:24and the perseverance,

00:13:26to follow up.

00:13:29Any opportunity.

00:13:30Unlike the Muslims.

00:13:31You see,

00:13:31you have an argument,

00:13:32a debate,

00:13:33a discourse,

00:13:34with a non-Muslim,

00:13:35and you seem to have,

00:13:37got him cornered.

00:13:39What do you do?

00:13:41You start going around,

00:13:43boasting,

00:13:43say,

00:14:11They have the patience,

00:14:12and the perseverance,

00:14:14which we haven't got.

00:14:15Shame on us.

00:14:19So,

00:14:19this Christian missionary,

00:14:21got stuck into an Arab sheikh.

00:14:25Day in and day out.

00:14:27Preaching to him,

00:14:28that you're wasting your time,

00:14:29ya sheikh.

00:14:30Pray five times a day,

00:14:31up and down,

00:14:31up and down.

00:14:32You fast for one whole month,

00:14:33and you straight jacket your life.

00:14:35You don't drink,

00:14:36you don't gamble,

00:14:36you don't eat the pig,

00:14:37and on and on.

00:14:39Allah is not hungry for that.

00:14:42You want salvation?

00:14:43You believe,

00:14:44that he sent his son into the world,

00:14:46and he died for your sins,

00:14:47and salvation is yours.

00:14:48God Almighty,

00:14:49he came down to earth,

00:14:50and he died for your sins.

00:14:51Believe,

00:14:52and be saved.

00:14:54And,

00:14:55he won't let go.

00:14:56Every day,

00:14:57he's there.

00:14:58Every day,

00:14:59he's there.

00:14:59He's making life miserable,

00:15:01for this poor Arab sheikh.

00:15:04How is he to get out of the difficulty?

00:15:07So he plans a strategy,

00:15:09he tells his,

00:15:11his prime minister,

00:15:12his wazir,

00:15:13he said,

00:15:14tomorrow when he comes,

00:15:15I want you to whisper something in my ears.

00:16:53This is the type of arguments that have been carrying on.

00:16:56But now they are becoming more sophisticated.

00:16:59You see,

00:17:00here is a book.

00:17:02The subject of this evening's talk.

00:17:05The challenge of Islam.

00:17:07This one says,

00:17:08in South Africa,

00:17:08but the challenge of Islam is everywhere.

00:17:12Because Islam is the only faith which claims for this honor,

00:17:19this status.

00:17:20You see,

00:17:20there are only two religions,

00:17:21really,

00:17:22on the face of the earth,

00:17:23which are competing for the hearts and minds of mankind.

00:17:25Only two,

00:17:26really.

00:17:27Two missionary religions,

00:17:28Christianity and Islam.

00:17:30They are the only two religions which are out to change people.

00:17:35So Islam claims,

00:17:38to confirm,

00:17:40to correct,

00:17:41complete,

00:17:42and supersede Christianity.

00:17:44It's the only religion which claims that.

00:17:46The Hindu would tell the Christian,

00:17:48look man,

00:17:49you be a good Christian,

00:17:50and I be a good Hindu.

00:17:51Leave me alone.

00:17:52The Buddhist will tell him,

00:17:53he said,

00:17:54look,

00:17:54you be a good Christian,

00:17:55I be a good Buddhist.

00:17:56Leave me alone.

00:17:58Not so the Muslim.

00:17:59The Muslim is told to tell him,

00:18:02that God is one God.

00:18:04He is not three in one.

00:18:06He is made to say,

00:18:08the Muslim is made to say,

00:18:09look,

00:18:09don't eat the pig.

00:18:10Don't drink alcohol.

00:18:12Don't gamble.

00:18:13Don't be promiscuous.

00:18:14Shh.

00:18:15At every step,

00:19:13to have them Christianized.

00:19:15But after 300 years,

00:19:16of hammering,

00:19:17they came out,

00:19:18one of the most militant,

00:19:19Muslim communities in the world,

00:19:21the Malays of the Cape.

00:19:22One of the most militant,

00:19:24Muslim communities.

00:19:27They failed,

00:19:29to change them.

00:19:30As a matter of fact,

00:19:31they multiplied,

00:19:32beyond the normal rate of increase.

00:19:34The Malays.

00:19:36And then the Indian Muslims,

00:19:37for about 150 years,

00:19:38we are there.

00:19:39We went there,

00:19:39because we are starving in India.

00:19:41Famines, famines, famines.

00:19:42So we went to eke out a living,

00:19:43our fathers.

00:19:45And they had the fantastic opportunity,

00:19:47of converting us.

00:19:49Poor,

00:19:50illiterate,

00:19:50ignorant,

00:19:51hungry people.

00:19:52That's my people.

00:19:53But they failed.

00:19:55And today,

00:19:56as this Christian missionary,

00:19:58shows in this book,

00:19:59the challenge of Islam,

00:20:01mosques after mosques.

00:20:02Mosques,

00:20:03we have more than 300 masjids,

00:20:05in the country.

00:20:06And each and everyone,

00:20:07is a masterpiece.

00:20:08Without any Arab help.

00:20:11Except for one.

00:20:11There's only one mosque,

00:20:12that the Arabs helped.

00:20:13Otherwise,

00:20:13all these 300 masjids,

00:20:15with our own sweat and toil,

00:20:16we build the masjids.

00:20:18And,

00:20:18we have created a community there.

00:20:20Alhamdulillah,

00:20:21we have nothing to be ashamed of.

00:20:23We supply more tablighis,

00:20:25to the tablighi jamaat,

00:20:26than India or Pakistan,

00:20:27on a percentage basis.

00:20:29South Africa.

00:20:30We send more hajids for hajj,

00:20:32on a percentage basis,

00:20:33than most Arab countries.

00:20:36More of our people,

00:20:37keep beers,

00:20:38than any other people,

00:20:39anywhere else.

00:20:40More of our people,

00:20:40go for salat,

00:20:41than anywhere,

00:20:42anybody else going to the masjid.

00:20:44We are a fantastic community,

00:20:45in South Africa.

00:20:46And,

00:20:48in an ocean of Christianity.
