00:33the day 5th overall with 20 seconds from Van Kerkhove. They rolled out from Velletri, another
00:39hot and sunny day, maybe not as hot as yesterday, but today there is no hiding. Official start
00:51was given. And the Maglia Azzurra, right at the front, keen to make sure that he is able
00:59to get in today's break as well. There is a big breakaway, a leading group of eventually
01:0530 riders at the top of the first km of the day, Passo della Sella, with Mati Dodd getting
01:1318 points, Niccolò Rigetti, 10 points, Niccolò Smilesi, 6 points. And here is the classification

01:34of the intermediate sprint, with Pierre-Henri Basset getting 12 points and 3 bonus seconds,
01:41Gustave Blanc 8 points and 2 bonus seconds, and Cristia Remelli 6 points and 1 second.
01:54with 12 k's to go, there is Matteo Ramirez, the Equadorian climber for UOE team and here
02:00it's Gen Z, who didn't want to wait for Finn, he goes for himself, and what an acceleration.
02:07He catches also the riders, initially at the front, Maglia Rosa group distanced, the chasing
02:15group with 4 riders just in the middle. It's time for Lorenzo Finn to launch and attack
02:27and go solo, looks behind, there is a little bit of distance, Blanc at the front and looks
02:33back and sees his teammate in the rainbow jersey. Finn is now solo,
02:44after the massive effort of his teammate Blanc all day in the break and pulling also for him.
02:53The chasing group and the battle for second position is on between Vanhoefel, Bravo and Ramirez.
03:17and Ramirez. Second chasing group with Blanc and Arsac, the world champion looking pretty solid, still inside 5 k's to
03:28go.
03:28and the two chases Bravo and Ramirez, almost a minute behind.
03:37Lorenzo Finn is now 3 kms to the top of the mountain, the Cima Coppi of this year's edition.
03:51also making sure that he has enough of time ahead.
04:00Second chasing group with Blanc and Arsac, 1 minute and 40 behind the front of the race, Lorenzo Finn.
04:082nd group still 1 minute behind, but it's now Lorenzo Finn who passes through the flamme rouge of the queen
04:17stage of Giron X Gen Carta Giovani Nazionale.
04:27A big Italian flag is waved to honor him. Big applause to the world champion, the king of Montelivata.
04:39Tomorrow he's gonna swap his rainbow bands for pink.
04:45It's the top 10 of today's stage.
04:52And the general classification, Lorenzo Finn leading the overall standings with 56 seconds ahead of Ramirez.
05:04Davide Donati instead keeps the maglia rossa and Mati Dodd, of course, the maglia azzurra.
05:14Having been in the break today as well, getting some extra points.
05:18And a new maglia bianca wearer today from Spain, the rider of Movistar Javier Cubillas.
05:24And, of course, Lorenzo Finn is gonna wear the tricolore, being the best Italian rider in the race.
05:33Lorenzo, after the youth performance, the Maglia Rosa is yours. First of all, how are you? How it went today?
05:39Oh, today was, yeah, it was really incredible.
05:42From the start, we put three guys in the break and so we didn't have to work too much.
05:49Then, on the final climb, it was amazing. Like, first Paul and then Gustav, they waited for me.
05:56They did some good pacing and then I had to just, yeah, follow them and then do the last bit
06:01on my own.
06:02But, yeah, this one was really thanks to them and I had really good legs today, so that helps.
06:08But, yeah, this one is for the team and still two stages to go, but I'm really happy with today.
06:14We have seen that huge attack and we have seen that the other GC riders tried to reply but with
06:19no success.
06:20Could this mean, you know, the Maglia Rosa is still near to you? What do you expect from the others
06:27today?
06:27Because today, I haven't made such an important reply.
06:33I don't know the time gaps, but I heard the Maglia Rosa was over three minutes down, so I think
06:38it's quite a big gap.
06:40But, yeah, the climb, they attacked straight away Ramirez. I just didn't follow because it's a 16K climb. It was
06:50way too hard.
06:52Then I did my pace and just went solo from there.
06:54We have seen you in such a good shape in the last K. How do you feel and what that
06:59was in your mind when you were finishing this climb alone?
07:02Oh, yeah, it was good that the last few K was a bit easier because I was suffering, but I
07:09think it's normal with the heat and, you know, a long effort.
07:12Hot stage and, yeah, I'm really happy it was over.
07:18Davide, on hot stage today, what are the impressions of how we went?
07:23Yeah, it's been really hard. We tried to take the control again and we already knew Lorenzo was going to
07:31be really strong on the climb and it was feeling also really good this morning.
07:36Yeah, we trusted him and we were really confident and, luckily, he just did it. Like, he won.
07:49We have seen the huge work of your team. The plan will be, you know, to do the same maybe
07:54tomorrow in order to keep the maglia.
07:57Yeah, 100%. I mean, I think having the jersey means also we have to take our responsibility a little bit
08:03and, yeah, we'll try today to try to make it smooth and try to keep the jersey until the end.
08:12And you're red?
08:14As well.
08:16Matthew, another GPM for you in the box in such a hot stage. How went today?
08:22Yeah, cutting bad at the start. Sort of a massive breakaway form. And I had Milky House and Nico in
08:30there.
08:32Milky House did a superb job all day. Like, he was awesome today. Took those first points and then sort
08:39of just, yeah, stayed in that group until the bottom of the final climb and dropped off.
08:43And, yeah, just road to finish. But, yeah, I'm pretty cooked now after three days in the break. But, yeah,
08:50yeah.
08:51So what can we expect from you tomorrow looking at the hardest climb that are coming?
08:56Yeah, I mean, I sort of knew that I had to build a bit of a buffer today going into
09:02tomorrow. But if there's the opportunity to take more points tomorrow, obviously I'll go for it. But, yeah.
09:10The Maglia Azzurra, we know it's not properly your goal, but it's still with you. So...
09:14Yeah, yeah. It wasn't something that ever crossed my mind coming into this race. But it's, yeah, definitely. So I'm
09:21going to try and keep it to the end now, definitely. Yeah, yeah. Thank you.
09:24Javier, top 10 for you today. First of all, congrats. How do you feel? How was the race?
09:29Yeah, the race was really fast, but I have to say thanks to all my teammates because they did an
09:36amazing work. So, yeah. The day was really hot, really hard. But at the end, I was able to keep
09:43my own pace on the climb and to finish on the top 10.
09:47We are in the hottest stage of the Giro. Today, other important climbs. How will you face it in order
09:54to maybe, you know, keep the jersey?
09:57Yeah, we... We knew that today was a really hard stage. So, yeah. We just focus on staying on the
10:06front of the Peloton all day and to reserve all the energy that was possible to this climb.
10:12Thank you.
10:13Thank you.
10:18Thank you.
