05:22And the general classification with Matisse Vanker Kove leading the Maglia Rosa classification.
05:30Matisse, congratulations.
05:32The pink is yours.
05:33We have seen you happy but also exhausted.
05:35How was today?
05:36Oh yeah, it was a really hot day.
05:39And also every time this lapses are pretty hard.
05:44And yeah, the beginning of breakaway went.
05:47And we keep it calm and let the other teams do it work.
05:51And yeah, then at the final I could follow a finish attack in the second last lap.
05:56And then I jumped in before the last downhill in the finish to the breakaway group.
06:05And then I had great legs so I kept riding also.
06:09Yeah.
06:10And then at the end Finn joined again.
06:13And then unexpectedly they let us a gap with the other with the other.
06:18The second guy was also really strong.
06:20And we rode together till the finish.
06:22And yeah, I'm really happy.
06:23When you played the attack in the hospitality zone there was your dad and your grand bands of court cheering
06:31for you.
06:32How much this makes you proud, you know, to win the stage here in front of your dad, of your
06:37family?
06:37Yeah, it's always special and it's really casual that they came today to watch the race.
06:44and I just want already the day they come here.
06:48So it's really special also.
06:50And yeah.
06:50The Maglia Rosa is yours.
06:52The goal, of course, is to keep it.
06:54Today we start with the climb with the hardest stage.
06:56What do you expect also from the other teams from Lorenzo Finn the attack today?
07:00Yeah, I expect they will make it make my day hard, I expect.
07:04And yeah, tomorrow is a really hard day and we will see how we're going to do it.
07:09But I will for sure defend this jersey.
07:14So, David, first of all, today has been a hot stage, kind of nervous with multiple attacks.
07:19How it went?
07:22Yeah, already yesterday when I saw the route I was, I already know it was going to be harder.
07:30I think for me it was the hardest stage of the World Giro because then tomorrow I will keep it
07:37easy when I drop on the climbs.
07:39But yeah, today we took the control of the race and with the help of other teams.
07:45But mainly we worked for not, yeah, for not giving the break too much time because I immediately saw it
07:53was a really strong breakaway.
07:55And yeah, I think we did a pretty good job.
07:57At the end we saved the day and then that's the most important.
08:01We have seen the Red Bull controlling the race, trying to attack the first attacks of Lorenzo Finn during this
08:07Giro.
08:08What can we expect from your team starting from tomorrow with the hardest climb, the time to, you know, try
08:13to get the pick?
08:15Yeah, I mean, I saw Lorenzo is really strong actually.
08:20And also in the last weeks he was really doing well during trainings.
08:25I'm pretty sure he's going to be one of the main favourites for the Giro and we'll try to help
08:32him as much as possible.
08:33And what about your Red?
08:35For my Red, I mean, I'm still trying to get some points in the intermediate sprints and I have a
08:43quite big gap.
08:44So I, I can also take it a little bit easy, but I will for sure keep an eye on
08:49it.
08:51So then looking at today, it's going to be, it will be a hot stage, multiple attacks. How went the
08:59circuit?
08:59Well, for me it was very hard today. It didn't went I wanted. I felt not super good with the
09:05heat and eating and drinking was not going well,
09:08but still happy to go away with white jersey.
09:11Now you have the white jersey. The goal, of course, for the next day will be to keep it, try
09:16to keep it.
09:16Yeah, it will be to keep it, but the main goal is to go good with Ramirez the next days.
09:22Looking at the next stages, the real Giro, the hardest climb of the Giro are coming. How will you face
09:27it as a team?
09:28I think we will ride good as a team, try to help Ramirez as best as possible and see what
09:34he can do on the climb.
09:36So Matthew, you're one of the athletes during this huge breakaway, like 100km of breakaway, first of all.
09:44How are you and what's one of your goals to do this?
09:47Yeah, I'm pretty cooked to be honest. Initially the goal wasn't really to defend blue, it was just to try
09:55and go for the stage.
09:58Literally after that first climb, I basically just took the downhill first, pushed it quite hard down the downhill, turned
10:07around and I had a gap.
10:09And then there were six guys with him, no, seven or something like that.
10:15And yeah, we worked well together and figured this is a kind of circuit where, you know, in a break
10:25you're more agile through the corners.
10:27If you work well together, you can take the descents just as quickly as a bunch.
10:32So the gap stayed around two minutes for quite a while and I just, you know, took the points.
10:37Every time I realized I was in a position to do it. So, you know, why not go for it?
10:42And then yeah, we obviously got caught, caught later on and yeah, I was pretty cooked by then, but yeah.
10:50Today seven of eight GPM was yours. The Maglia Azzurra is still yours. Tomorrow we start with the hardest climb.
10:57So what do you expect maybe in order to keep the jersey?
11:00Yeah, I need to have a look at the stage first, to be honest. Like, yeah, like, like I said,
11:04it was a bit of a, you know, it was never really a goal coming into this,
11:07but I've got myself into this position. So yeah, I think now I will try and try and go for
11:12it.
11:13Yeah, I'll see what happens, but I think, yeah, trying to go for the early break and get, get the
11:20points and then drop back and sort of help our GC guy.
11:23Probably could be, could be the way to go. But yeah, I need to have a look at the profile
11:27tomorrow first. Yeah.
11:29So get, get my blood sugar back up and then, and then work out what I do tomorrow.
11:34Mattia, you were one of the main characters of today's breakaway. First of all, we would like to know it
11:39was your intention. How were you?
11:42No, this was the, was the plan of the team. Try to win the breakaway and then try to play
11:47the card.
11:51The imagination was to finish in the break, but this was not, was not the plan of the group. So
11:58we did our best.
12:01Now you have the Tricolore, of course, I think it makes you proud to wear the Tricolore in Italy. And
12:06that could be a goal, you know, to keep it during the hardest stage you are going to face.
12:12I would like to keep it, but it's not possible for me. No, for sure we will try, but we
12:19have one, one GC leader and we follow the, our goal. So go all in for Matteo.
12:27We believe in him and we try for this. I'm so happy to wear this jersey for one second. Also,
12:36I was trying to win also the, the pink, but this is also super good.
12:43Looking at the GC today, we have seen the first, you know, kind of selection gaps. In order to fight
12:48for this, tomorrow we'd be in a hard stage with the first hardest climb. So what do you expect?
12:53For sure today was super hard day, maybe more than the expected. And I think from tomorrow and the day
13:04after we'd be really casino, we say in Italy.
13:10Really chaotic, yeah.
13:12Good luck.
13:13That's our way.
