ARTIST CREATES INCREDIBLE HARRY KANE PORTRAIT USING MILK
WITH PIX AND VID
BY SHUK YEE TSANG
An artist has wowed football fans by creating an incredible portrait of England captain and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane using nothing but oat milk.
Wayne Wright, from Solihull, UK, filmed himself carefully painting Kane’s likeness onto a glass surface, with the footballer’s features gradually emerging from the liquid.
The video shows the England record goalscorer’s face taking shape in a matter of minutes, with striking detail achieved using what is usually found in a morning drink.
Wayne, who works for a printing company, said the idea came from a simple curiosity and a free carton of oat milk nearing its expiry date.
He said the artwork was painted on glass placed over a dark surface to create contrast.
He explained it took around one hour to sketch and complete the painting.
Wayne said his artistic journey began unexpectedly after a request from his daughter Eliza, which led him to experiment with coffee and later other everyday materials.
After sharing his work online, he received hundreds of messages from around the world and has since sold artwork internationally, including pieces to celebrities.
The Harry Kane milk painting is the latest example of his unconventional creations, which have attracted praise online.
Wayne said:“I’m a big fan of the World Cup, even though I’m not actually a football supporter. I thought it would raise people’s spirits and maybe this might be our year.
“Like I said, I’m not a football fan, but the World Cup brings everyone together, even non-football fans like myself.
“I chose oat milk purely by chance. I was given it for free from my local store because they were about to throw it out due to the date.
“I thought, ‘I wonder what it’s like to paint with?’ and I was very surprised how easy it was.
“The process was simple enough. I painted on glass as I needed a black background.
“My daughter inspired me to paint. I had never painted before. It all happened by accident when she asked me to paint her a picture.
“I’ve had lots of interesting comments, some very funny milk-inspired ones, but all positive.”
