00:00And now we go to Honduras where the Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating former presidential candidate Salvador Nasralla for corruption
00:07involving campaign funds.
00:09For many, this is the latest in a series of betrayals by the National Party and the leadership of the
00:14Liberal Party against Nasralla who denounced them for fraud in the last elections when they imposed Trump's chosen candidate as
00:22the winner.
00:23From Honduras, Gerardo Torres Elaya tells us more.
00:30For alleged irregularities in campaign finance and the possible diversion of campaign funds to personal accounts, the Honduran Public Prosecutor's
00:38Office has formerly charged Salvador Nasralla, former presidential candidate for the Liberal Party, who is presumed to have actually won
00:47the last elections, but was robbed on the orders of U.S. President Donald Trump, who demanded that the winner
00:53be Nazles Fura of the National Party.
00:57The devil pays poorly those who serve him well.
01:01And in this case, former candidate Salvador Nasralla, who was once very close to the National Party and the Liberal
01:08Party, is now being persecuted.
01:11I want to think, I want to believe, that he bears no responsibility for the accusations against him.
01:18Because it's not a simple accusation.
01:20He's been accused of very serious things.
01:24The rapid and efficient indictment is possible thanks to the impeachment proceedings against Attorney General Joel Zelaya, elected in the
01:32previous administration and replaced by Pablo Emilio Reyes, a well-known member of the National Party.
01:39All this was possible by the votes of the Liberal Party in the National Congress.
01:44The Liberal Party congressmen were advised and told that they would be persecuted later, but they are in cahoots.
01:52They are the same.
01:53Sabal Nasralla is just a useful leader for the powerful groups.
01:57He plays into the game of splitting the vote and attacking Libra.
02:01And today, he will be persecuted.
02:04And make no mistake, they will disqualify him as a candidate in the next elections.
02:09Nasralla has participated in the last four presidential elections in Honduras.
02:14In 2017 and 2021, in coalitions with the Liberal Party, with whom he created a strong electoral bloc and enabled
02:22Xiomara Castro's victory.
02:23In 2025, he participated with the Liberal Party, but some politicians believe there are some actors inside that party interested
02:32in keeping Nasralla out of further elections.
02:35We see the excellent relationship that the president of the National Congress has with the Liberal Party's congressman, Jorge Calix.
02:42They are also catering to his wins, because who benefits more from Sabal Nasralla being out of the political arena
02:49for the Liberal Party?
02:50Without him, the Liberal Party will return to its 300,000 votes, or those votes could even decrease if Salvador
02:58Nasralla continues to be persecuted by this government, the political security office, and the two-party system.
03:06Nasralla, who is 73 years old, assures that he will again seek the presidency of Honduras in 2029, without specifying
03:14which party.
03:15He continues to maintain the recently adopted far-right discourse, finding to understand that for both Washington and the Honduran
03:22right, he is just another opposition figure.
