The General Staff of Ukraine has indicated that the cumulative military losses for Russia since the initiation of its large-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, have exceeded 993,910, including a single-day total of 1,160 casualties noted in early June 2026. This alarming statistic, closely monitored by Ukraine's military, suggests that Russia's losses in this conflict far exceed those of any military engagement it has experienced since World War II. Alongside personnel losses, Russia has also suffered the destruction of over 10,889 tanks, 22,685 armored fighting vehicles, and 39,193 drones. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russia has also lost a net area of 91 square miles in territory over the four weeks leading up to June 9, 2026.
