00:30much different with this team i think we thought they were going to use some of that money to get
00:35another bet that the team would be better overall coming off you know that playoff appearance last
00:40year um you know and the fact that even devers himself isn't producing as well as you know um
00:45he he you know historically has over in the giants yeah i think there's a lot of elements to it

00:51are hopeful to look at like a year later and why the organization is in the position it's in
00:57currently okay so you know obviously at the time it was very controversial just right off the bat is it
01:05was the fact that there wasn't communication could this trade been have been avoided if breslau was a
01:12better communicator and they had dealt with devers in a different way in your opinion i think so yeah i

01:19um part of the whole process of the trade was that you know they felt that devers wasn't gonna
01:25be you know really a team player and move over to first but they kind of jostled them around in
01:31the
01:31beginning of the year they didn't really tell him to uh until the very end that they were in the
01:35bregman negotiations when they signed bregman and late in spring training early in spring training last
01:40year um and then you know had devers move off of his third base that he'd been almost the entirety
01:47of
01:47his career um he was frustrated by that and then sort of relented obviously and then tristan casas
01:53has his massive knee injury in may and they want him to move they want devers to move to first
01:58and he basically said no he you know he was sticking at dh after they had asked him to do
02:03that so it was
02:04kind of rehashing a lot of remembering kind of reminding people of all of that drama it was drama
02:10you know and i think they had evened it out but then the cost of stuff sort of reflamed it

02:16henry flies out to kansas city to meet with you know to meet with devers that happened too and
02:21that was sort of writing on the wall and um leading up to all this but i do think yeah

02:26communication aspect of it was extremely poor um and definitely could have been handled differently
02:32and i think brezla admitted that you know the one of the big takeaways he had from the whole thing
02:36was
02:36that he he messed up on that end now i don't know if he necessarily has learned a ton uh
02:41since then
02:42from that just because of you know other communication issues that have cropped up
02:46but um at the same time uh yeah that was a huge factor in and why this all went down
02:52so
02:53he's he's got charisma yes correct he has learned his lesson in that case
