00:16not from the Celtics perspective but from the league why was the league not interested in
00:22Jalen Brown I think there are a lot of reasons why the market went the way it did
00:30if you look at it like other teams that that were interested in a shake-up got other players
00:40like Toronto got Kawhi the Timberwolves who expressed interest in Jalen they they got
00:49LaMelo Ball instead and so some teams that would have been interested dropped out other teams didn't
00:55value Jalen as highly as his contract paid him and I think the contract is a big piece of this
01:02because he finished sixth place in MVP voting I don't think there were too many teams that saw him
01:09that way and and some teams saw him a lot less valuable than than sixth in the NBA there was
01:17um one one GM who told us that he didn't have him in the top 50 and and so so
01:24that was part of it
01:27and and and then I I do think like at the end of the day um the fact that the
01:36Celtics did do the
01:38trade that they did showed like they were just ready to move on for whatever reason um I do think
01:46they
01:46had some some concerns about whether Jalen after being given so much freedom this past year would want
01:56to go back into the type of role he had in the past and I I don't know if like
02:00number one option is the
02:01right term but basically um they they they were going to ask him or hoping to ask him as as
02:10I at
02:11least the way I see it they were going to ask him to go back into the type of role
02:14he had played in the
02:15past where he had a little less freedom and I don't think they they believed that he was going to
02:21want to
02:21do that willingly um and and then at some point I'm not exactly sure when I think the relationship
02:30just soured and I think part of that might have been the way the Celtics handled the offseason
02:35obviously you know Jalen was in talks for Giannis and then the Celtics kept shopping him and
02:42I I don't know exactly when he started to feel disrespected but I do think the Celtics were under
02:48the impression that if they did bring him back that they they might have had a a problem on their
02:54hands with with just kind of managing that relationship as great as it had been over the
03:01last 10 years and as much as they'd accomplished and really as much as they respect Jalen like there
03:07was a lot of respect for Jalen in that organization that I think what's going to be lost because they
03:14traded him now is just how much his teammates valued like the way he led them this year like
03:20that wasn't fake that was real like players really like they to a man were were very um like they
03:31they continuously praised what Jalen did throughout the season how the intensity he brought the way he
03:37refused to let them slip even though they bought so much talent even though Jason Tatum was injured
03:41and so that will be lost but I do think um that moving forward the Celtics thought they would have
03:47had a problem on their hands if they brought Jalen back
