00:00Big statement coming in from U.S. President Donald Trump on the peace deal with Iran.
00:05Barely 48 hours before the signing of that framework agreement in Geneva,
00:11President Trump says the Iran MOU is not final.
00:14If I don't like the agreement, we will go back to dropping bombs.
00:18Well, that's right. The agreement will take 60 more days.
00:21It's an initial MOU that will be signed on Friday in Geneva.
00:25And Trump is talking about the final agreement, saying that if the final agreement is not to his liking,
00:31he's going to go back to bombing.
00:33Now, Trump has also said that the alternative that the world faces is worldwide depression.
00:39Stupid people want to have a worldwide depression. That's what Trump is saying.
00:43Warning the world that should they not agree with Trump's terms and conditions,
00:48that they will go back to the war and it could mean depression.
00:52Another statement that he's made, go on, Gida.
00:55He's also said that the Strait of Hormuz has partially opened up, but will reopen fully in two days.
01:02Interesting. Before I get you more on the story, listen in to the U.S. President.
01:08We'll be discussing a little bit about the deal with Iran at the 4 o'clock news conference.
01:13It's a great deal for a lot of reasons.
01:15But, number one, by far, 99.9 percent is they will never have a nuclear weapon.
01:21And you can't give Iran a nuclear weapon.
01:24And they will never have a nuclear weapon.
01:26So that's very, very strong.
01:28It's a very strong deal.
01:29Nobody knows what it is, but it's very strong.
01:32And most people seem to be very happy.
01:36Who's really happy is the market.
01:38Because the market's gone up thousands of points over the last four or five days since hearing about it.
01:44And the Strait is going to be opening.
01:45It's already partially opened.
01:47It's going to be opening up soon in full over the next day or two.
01:51It's false.
01:53People, you can invest if you want.
01:55I mean, what am I going to do?
01:55Say nobody's ever allowed to invest?
01:57No, we're not investing.
01:58We're not putting up 10 cents.
02:00And people can decide to do that.
02:03But that's up to them.
02:04I mean, do you want me to say nobody's ever allowed to invest in a country?
02:08I'll say it with Egypt.
02:09Nobody's allowed to invest in Egypt.
02:11Am I supposed to say that?
02:15Let's quickly cut across to Washington, D.C.
02:17Rohit Sharma joins us with the latest on this.
02:21Rohit, is this again President Trump blowing hot, blowing cold on that deal with Iran?
02:2848 hours before the deal.
02:30If I'm not happy, we go back to bombing Iran.
02:33Yeah, you know, one of the things that has come out through this MOU, Gaurav,
02:36is the fact that there is going to be an extended period of negotiations
02:41when it comes to those two sticking points, which is one of them being the nuclear weapons.
02:45So I think the MOU, which President Trump is going to go line by line,
02:48as we've been told, during his press conference today,
02:51I think that one of the things that they've agreed to is that there will be at least a 60
02:56-day time
02:57where they would negotiate those finer details.
02:59And I think this is what President Trump is trying to say.
03:02Like, in those 60 days, if they're not able to reach an agreement,
03:06that would mean that President Trump is saying, well, we can go back to bombing.
03:11And which, again, as you said, is blowing hot and cold at the same time.
03:15But I think he's eluding the fact that he's putting pressure on the Iranians
03:18that, look, we have an MOU right now, but we still have a lot of work to do,
03:22which means we still need an agreement that Iran should not pursue those nuclear weapons.
03:29Hita, you've traveled to Iran. Does Iran come under pressure?
03:31Well, see, this is exactly what the question is.
03:36The nuclear weapon question, Gaurav, was always going to be discussed after the Memorandum of Understanding.
03:43President Trump keeps emphasizing and re-emphasizing that we will not allow Iran to have nuclear weapons.
03:49Look at what Iran's stated position has been.
03:52Officially, they have been maintaining that they never wanted a nuclear weapon,
03:56that they do not want a nuclear weapon.
03:57We do know that they have uranium enriched to about 60 percent.
04:02And, Sandeep, if you could weigh in, that certainly means that it's not just for civilian purpose.
04:06But they themselves have been saying that it's not for nuclear weapons,
04:09that they need to continue having the right to possess enriched uranium for civil nuclear purposes.
04:16And all this conversation would take place in the 60 days that would follow.
04:20So, the MOU is what is important because that is going to be the focus,
04:25bringing about peace and stability in the region, Sandeep,
04:28at a time when we are looking at Israel and some of the ministers in Israel who want to continue
04:33bombing Lebanon.
04:34Yeah, absolutely, Gita.
04:35You know, there are two questions here, really.
04:37One is the Lebanon question, which is Israel's uninterrupted bombing of targets in Lebanon.
04:46Basically, Israel is going after Hezbollah.
04:48And the other question, of course, as you mentioned, is the highly enriched uranium.
04:51There are 440 kgs of that.
04:54That is the most contentious thing.
04:55That is actually at the heart of the matter.
04:56Because if Trump wants to claim that he has kept Iran away from a nuclear weapon,
05:01then that HEU has to be seized, it has to be destroyed.
05:06And then he can announce that they have at least achieved something out of this,
05:11the war that he began on February 28th.
05:14And, of course, there is going to be obvious comparisons with the JCPOA,
05:18which President Obama steered after several years.
05:21They came out with an agreement which held until Trump tore it up about eight years back.
05:27He will want an agreement that is much better than the JCPOA,
05:31which keeps Iran further away from a nuclear weapon than it has ever been, Gita.
05:35He will want an agreement that is much better than the JCPOA of the JCPOA of the JCPOA of the
05:35JCPOA of the JCPOA of the JCPOA of the JCPOA.
