Not enough people are talking about Ring of Honor, so be the change you want to see. I'm not normally going to be a day-of person, but I postponed from Monday and want to seize my momentum and actually make stuff.

00:00What up nerds? It's ring of honor time. It's always ring of honor time.
00:06My original plan was to do rankings for AEW proper, but I'll admit I grew frustrated quicker than
00:12someone with the project should. I've seen at least two people carrying forward with their own
00:16weekly rankings, but for me it came down not feeling comfortable making those choices. The
00:21data set was so muddy that making proclamations felt dishonest. Scraping cage match data is fine,
00:27but anyone can do that. The theory I've run with as a small creator is do you want attention or
00:32do
00:32you have something to say? I have at least four drafts about how pieces don't seem to fit,
00:37but there's another reason why I'm doing this. Be the change you want to see. Not enough people
00:43talking about ring of honor. There is a simple way to fix that. Another instance of changing things,
00:49I'm speaking it into existence to motivate me. I'm trying to go to the next set of tapings.
00:54I saw social media chatter about why ROH talent wasn't more included in the 30 under 30,
01:00including the ring of honors, the ring of honors, the honorable mentions,
01:06why it was compared to other small companies. I pulled up some Osaka pro and those crowds are alive.
01:13We can debate the merits of the current studio taping arrangement, but comparing this week's episode
01:20to any of the Osaka pro matches and I checked more than just one show, the energy lifts everything
01:26and helps what could be unremarkable performers stand out. That's a lot of words to say I'm going to
01:32try and be performatively enthusiastic, which I'm also defining as remembering to cheer and boo
01:38instead of just sitting there, politely clapping and thinking that's nice. But the real story is the
01:43discourse, big quotes, on our forever ROH Women's World Champion, the Minion Overlord, the Fallen
01:49Goddess, the American Joshi. Yes, I did actually write it all out on my paper version, but how do
01:56they go on from here? First thing is I want to say, if you wanted this record-setting reign to
02:01end in a
02:01multi-person match, I question the logic you used. Do I understand how we got here or when it was
02:07decided
02:08to go for over a thousand days? No, not at all. Now that Billie has graduated, please don't tell me
02:15she's in post-grad. I would not be shocked with an IB graduate. Final battle round three is what I'm
02:21expecting to happen with the build. I expect Maya to beat Athena in the Owen as it comes up. She
02:28loses
02:28in the pay-per-view main event and then we get to the meat of it and hopefully the payoff.
02:35But I do want
02:37to say as a reminder to some of you that although I really like these characters and am invested in
02:42the story, my prediction is nothing more than looking at the pieces. And if that doesn't happen,
02:48I hope whatever happens is told well and we get emotional resonance if the godless is finally
02:53falling again. But if it doesn't go according to what I thought, huh, that's interesting.
02:59Okay, that's enough housekeeping to talk about the actual episode last Thursday.
03:03Premier Athlete Skyflight. Please, can it be top flight time now? I appreciate the respectful
03:09boos throughout the crowd. Like I said, hopefully I'll be there. I do notice athletes rule is getting
03:16to near 50-50. Like I said in the roster video, they, I hate to admit it, but they do
03:23kind of rule.
03:24Los ColĂłn and Snakeman against STP. How is this a match? I know they won a match,
03:31but respectfully, I have a memory. But can we have a Puerto Rico show now? Grand Slam Puerto Rico?
03:38If you don't know the ColĂłns, also respectfully, use this as a fresh start. Good example of people
03:45being held down by circumstance beyond their control. BBC being a running bit is nice, but I
03:50appreciate that they don't bring it out right away and make you work for it. What are those words that
03:55I
03:56just said? We have more MXM collection on our TV. Always a good thing. Mason Madden and Teriyaki,
04:04which Teriyaki has been doing good work all over the indies. It's nice to see him get this opportunity.
04:09A tip touch coat of honor is a beautiful thing. Just as is Ian Rigavani being flustered about
04:15Mason Madden and his marvelous muscles. He is all of us. I know not all, but let this boring
04:23sis dude remind you all to fix your hearts or die. We stay with MXM and Thirsty. Mansoor gets
04:30Ace Austin and his thighs. We need to be better each other. I don't care how sexy he is.
04:37I don't remember what part of the match actually inspired me to write that note, but that's where
04:43we are. I was slightly surprised there was no comment about Mansoor getting hit with the fold at the end.
04:49I kind of appreciated something about him getting folded up with how thirsty everyone was being.
04:56I appreciate the restraint. Zeta and Red Velvet. Yeah, why not? This is what I want. People who
05:03want to compete. It is that easy to make me care about a talent. I had no opinion about Zeta
05:09Steele
05:09when she came in. I knew she had done some stuff, but I had not honestly seen it. But since
05:15she's been
05:15here, it's good. Inspiration coming next. Commentary lampshading about Harley Cameron
05:21singing the song does feel a little strange. I did not realize we were going to go straight
05:25into the Red and Zeta match. The matching gear is nice. I used to watch them growing up.
05:31That is hilarious from Zeta to the inspiration. Good on commentary.
05:45No big commentary because it was a great establishment match. I am inspired, pun intended, for this new
05:51tag team of Zeta Steele and Red Velvet. They may indeed be running the women's division coming soon
05:57in both companies. Soleil and Andretti. I can't look at Soleil and wonder how much of a hand Danielson
06:04has had in his training and gear, giving advice, that kind of thing. The gear, the mask, the look,
06:12I think they have something. I do want to say I've watched him also team with Gringo Loco, so I
06:17know
06:17he's being seasoned all over. I'm not just saying because Danielson likes Lucha and did the dark tapings
06:22in the mask the one time. Although that's where I'm saying the inspiration is from. I know that
06:27Gringo Loco is doing a lot of work as well. Action doing really well. He's moving with confidence.
06:35He does feel more put together than before. There were those months when Crew was kind of missing.
06:40We were wondering where Action was to get his shots. But coming back, this is good. He's been putting
06:45the time to good use. Soleil hits a house call. I'm sorry, a Skywalker. This match has not been a
06:52fireworks factory, but I mean that as a compliment. Both guys are working hard. Skipping ahead to Action's
06:57promo. You don't get to swear yet. You aren't good or edgy enough. Robin Renegade. Charlotte,
07:03I hope you're doing well wherever you are. I'm holding firm with the prediction. Final battle,
07:10round three. My World gets the next pay-per-view title shot for Ring of Honor after winning in the
07:15Owen after Athena, but ultimately comes up short. Work Horseman vs. Eddie and Ortiz. I swear I've seen
07:22this match before, but I am too lazy to actually reference check against Cage match.
07:27Pour one out for the Wingmen, a group that overachieved at Hall of Fame level.
07:33Tag title discussion. As disappointed as I was that Busta and the Brain lost,
07:37if we're going to make it top flight time, by all means. I am glad to see the Work Horseman.
07:42I do wonder
07:43why we didn't get them so many years earlier. I know injuries have been in the way, but there's a
07:48whole list of high-level indie guys that never bubbled through. It's more intriguing when those
07:52people eventually do show up. The acoustic version of Angelico's theme is even better for those who
07:58haven't heard it. Glad to see Bandito defending the title. I thought it was Blake's time, but that
08:03was at least half-fueled by wanting to see the champ on the show regularly. Fun match, Bandito is not
08:09the
08:09master of the seat belt pin like Wheeler Yuta or the best friends. I appreciate we only had one 21
08:17Plex
08:17attempt, and it was well set up. Bravo, both men looking at making it not look contrived. The 21 Plex
08:25is an amazing move. Yes, the setup is...
08:31I mean, I used the word contrived there. There's... I'm trying to think of a better word to use for
08:36it.
08:36It's just... it's complicated. It's hokey. It's bordering on, at least with the 619, with them
08:42falling to their knees, the Tiger Feint Kick, excuse me. At least they're down, so you think that
08:49they're just there, but leaning on the ropes, it's kind of weird. Going to the deadlift one is
08:54extremely impressive, but yeah, I bet it's extremely hard to do, and I don't want to encourage
09:02people to hurt themselves. Not saying that he would, but we like these people. We want to see
09:08them as long as possible. We want them to stay healthy. But the... actually finishing the match
09:14on a regular pin, a regular move, not getting the... again, I love you, Ian Riccoboni, but the... the deal
09:21is
09:21set. The cards are... that when you hear it for the fourth time in a match, I'm only mildly exaggerating,
09:27because at Supercard, it felt like we saw it a bunch. This was... it felt... return to form feels
09:33insulting, but at the same time, this was a nice little wrestling match that you would never see
09:38on Dynamite or Collision. This is a great usage of Ring of Honor being different and just having some
09:44good grabs. Like I said before, I want to see more people talking about Ring of Honor,
09:49so here I am doing it. Enjoy the sunshine, because we gotta find it where we can.
09:58And here we are with the Late Night Tuesday to get it ready for you for the Thursday show.
10:04Red Velvet Hyena Horror opens tonight's show. Hyena has good poise, nice gear. The hair does
10:10distract me. Nice interactions with the crowd. I like what I'm seeing, and I will keep my eyes
10:14open for their indie bookings going forward. Red Velvet is giving her a bunch. I heard the
10:19Let's Go Velvet chant from the crowd. Thinking back, she was babyface against Jade Cargill,
10:24but that was... before she was as good as she is now. They let Hyena look really nice. I don't
10:29know
10:29how much I like Red being a counter-wrestler, but with the boxing background, which they did bring up
10:34again, it makes more sense. TV title match video by Leo. This is amazing. I get the feeling something
10:41will be revealed, and we'll be there watching. As of now, Blackheart is still my spirit creature.
10:47Yes ma'am. The kitty is still here, even if you can't see her. Promo by Neeson Sterling. Nice,
10:54I can go back to athletes suck. It really is fun to say. Time for the party match. We see
10:59if they have
10:59it in them to meet the high standard for a multi-person match, and... yeah, this was not a
11:05dynamite party match. I'll just say that. I love the Castle Runners. I love the boys learning the
11:10choreography before the match. I love Dalton talking to the camera in his walk to the ring.
11:15As I've seen said online, these are my silly little guys with a massive package. The match is fine.
11:22The notes I'm writing make me remember why I had made a point to watch things twice before recording,
11:27but this is the world we live in. Shibata, one of the most handsome men in wrestling,
11:32ready to take Aaron Solo's toe and insert it somewhere. At least that's where I think the
11:37training came from. The mention of Liger, he of the infamous PWG sequence with Ciampa and many others,
11:43taught it to Gabe Kidd, who shared it at the Deathrider torture dungeon. I'm rambling a little
11:47because I have no need to see Shibata against Zack again, Saber Jr., or Lee Moriarty. More pure matches
11:54are overall a good thing, but I still like matches to build to something, and this is a heck of
11:59a
11:59tangent to build Shibata up for whatever's going on with the ops. Zeta Steel, the horizontal sunglasses
12:06are a wonderful touch. Call me unobservant, as I'm sure it's been a thing before, but the expressive
12:11eyebrows over the frames are a good look that stands out on the promo picture, especially for
12:16this Tuesday night episode. The Marina Shafir transformation has to be the goal. No titles,
12:22yet, but she's gone from not very impressive to borderline can't miss. The chatter is real,
12:28the jersey is a nice start, but the people do clamor for more Marina Shafir merchandise.
12:33Heck of a demonstration for wrist... Yes, I'm... Yes ma'am. Chelsea is also very excited about Marina.
12:40Heck of a demonstration of wrist control with that judo throw sequence. Fantastic finish,
12:45going from the standing submission by Zeta on Marina into Marina spinning as a counter. I didn't
12:52understand what was going on at first, even with commentary pointing it out, but the transition
12:57right into Mother's Milk for the finish in the instant tap, that was very good. It sells her as
13:02the killer that she portrays. Story was told very well by everyone involved. I've probably been spending
13:09too much time in 2x KO, but Zeta reminds me of Ahri with the hair and the look. No, I
13:14don't know
13:15anything about League itself and do not want to. Athlete's rule slash suck meter is still around 50-50,
13:22in that it's indecipherable instead of pure suck when it started. I do wonder when Mark removes the sling
13:28here. I understand the abundance of caution that everyone is taking. I would hate for him to get re-injured.
13:34Feels like a version of Final Hour early on as a message. I don't know a move of Andretti other
13:39than the running shooting star he used to beat the Vortex Man. This crowd has been good through the
13:45tapings, I'm impressed. The earlier recorded points about crowd noise hold true, and yeah,
13:50this match feels bigger than the Premier Athletes match from the last episode. I can't help but notice,
13:56this is two YouTube episodes in a row closed out by Blackheart Leo Rush. It makes me think the company
14:02is indeed pivoting a little to feature the hot act. I'm not saying he's winning the TV title,
14:08or that he should. I actually wouldn't be surprised if Action Andretti gets it. I would be sad at AR
14:13Fox
14:14only having a short run, but that wouldn't last long at excitement for giving the young guy a try.
14:19I said earlier he's not good enough to swear in his promo, but that doesn't mean he can't hold a
14:23belt. Most of us have seen worse. I don't want Fox to lose, I'm rooting for him to retain, but
14:29I'm
14:29completely fascinated with where the Blackheart character and lore is going. I already can't
14:34remember if I said it earlier, but Leo in Wrestling Revolver over the weekend was also very good and
14:38worth watching if he interests you at all. That's the start of a new thing and a reminder to work
14:43the
14:44two vocal stims into your everyday life and vocabulary. How you know, and it's fine.
14:53All right.
14:54Here we go.
14:54And now,
14:54We're gonna have to use our other guy in the back.
