Storm chaser Connor McCrorey reports from Galveston ahead of what may be the first named tropical system in the Atlantic of 2026.
Transcript
00:00Here in Galveston, conditions are still fairly manageable for the moment, but you can definitely
00:04tell the weather is starting to go downhill as this tropical system moves closer to the
00:08upper Texas coast.
00:10We've had light rain along the seawall here, and while the beach certainly isn't packed
00:14behind me, there are still plenty of people out walking, taking photos, trying to enjoy
00:19the water before conditions deteriorate even further.
00:23This is one of those situations where impacts can increase fairly quickly.
00:26The biggest concerns with this system are going to be heavy rain, gusty winds, rough
00:32surf, and dangerous rip currents.
00:34There could also be some coastal flooding, especially near times of high tide.
00:38So even though it may not look too bad right now, officials are urging people to stay weather
00:43aware, avoid flooded roads, and stay out of the water as conditions worsen.
00:48In Galveston, for AccuWeather, I'm storm chaser Connor McCrory.
