Homeowners on this Redrow-built estate are being forced to pay ongoing private maintenance fees for land that, in reality, can be freely used and damaged by anyone. This video exposes how Redrow has refused to hand the estate over for council adoption, instead locking residents into unfair and often extortionate charges for the upkeep of the areas.
Despite the absence of any private signage, and despite the road being fully open to the public, every repair and every piece of maintenance must be funded by the homeowners themselves rather than by the local authority. The result is a system where residents pay twice: once through council tax, and again through compulsory estate fees.
The footage highlights a striking example. A resident from a different street arranged delivery of a super‑sized sauna. Heavy goods vehicles drove across our green spaces and park, tearing up the grass and causing significant damage — yet the cost of repairing that damage will likely fall on us, not on the person responsible.
Even more concerning, the delivery took place with no visible health and safety measures. As the lorry lifted the sauna over a garden fence, a child was playing in the park just metres away, underscoring the risks created by this unregulated, privately controlled arrangement.
