00:00Hey, it's Mike DiCaro, and what a couple of days the last couple of days have been, huh?
00:04I mean, in New York, everybody's in a good mood.
00:07Everyone wants to shake your hand.
00:08You don't see that in New York very much.
00:10You see it a lot in the Midwest, maybe in the southern hospitality states,
00:14but in New York, everyone's in a good mood, and why not?
00:17On Saturday night, the Knicks won the championship,
00:19and it's just been an amazing reaction among the folks in New York.
00:24Look, we all know that the Knicks are a team that unifies us more than anybody else.
00:28Every time the Yankees win a championship, there's a whole lot of Mets fans who are unhappy about that.
00:33Same thing with the Jets and the Giants, and the Rangers have the Islanders and Devils fans to contend with.
00:38And look, the Knicks fans are loyal.
00:40They just aren't as numerous as the Knicks fans.
00:43And so as a result, the last couple of days, last couple of weeks, last couple of months really,
00:47has been one wave of Knicks response, Knicks reaction, Knicks joy, a little Knicks trepidation,
00:54although not much when you only lose three games in the 19 you play during the playoffs, as the Knicks
00:59did.
00:59And obviously, in the last couple of days, it's just been nonstop,
01:02and we're all waiting for the parade now, which ought to be one of the great days in New York
01:07history,
01:08in spite of the fact that it goes up against the Regents exam.
01:10So I know a couple of disappointed kids aren't going to be able to go,
01:13but I guarantee you a couple of million other folks are going to make their way to lower Manhattan
01:19and salute this team in a way it's never been saluted before.
01:22The first two Knicks teams did not get a parade at the Canyon of Heroes for various reasons.
01:27This team will, and I suspect that they'll celebrate with enough verve and vigor for all three of those champions.
01:34We don't get a lot of these days in New York.
01:36We don't get a lot of these teams in New York.
01:38We certainly haven't had a team in the four major sports win a championship since 2012.
01:45Ironically, the day before the Giants won the last of those championships until now was the beginning of Linsanity.
01:52So that's how long ago that was.
01:54Now we have Jalen Brunson Saturday and all of his mates, and it's going to be someday on Thursday.
02:00Certainly the equal of what we've had across these 19 games across the last two months.
02:06These games are going to last in New York forever, and if you're a Knicks fan,
02:09they're going to last in your memory and your soul just as long.
