00:00This is Stefan Bondi from Atlanta, where last night the Knicks pulled off a thrilling victory over the Hawks 108
00:07-105,
00:08a game that required Jalen Brunson to rediscover his captain clutch persona.
00:14Down the stretch, it really was all about Jalen Brunson.
00:18With an assist from his teammate, Carl Anthony Towns, they were locked into a two-man game
00:24that really gave the Hawks fits, because all game they were blitzing and double-teaming and throwing Dyson Daniels at
00:32Jalen Brunson.
00:33But when the Knicks put Carl Anthony Towns in the mix, and remember, Carl Anthony Towns is not only a
00:40great shooter, but a great passer.
00:42So he was able to ease a lot of the pressure on Jalen Brunson, who took it home.
00:47There was a play with about 30 seconds left, where Brunson had C.J. McCollum one-on-one, took him
00:54off the dribble,
00:55did some Jalen Brunson things, hit the jumper, and that was probably the biggest bucket of the game.
01:00At the very end, though, a half-court heave by McCollum nearly tied the game at the buzzer.
01:07The Knicks had decided to hit their final free throws. Jalen Brunson was at the line with 1.2 seconds
01:12left.
01:12He hit both of those to give the Knicks a three-point lead, which gave the Hawks an opportunity to
01:18make an inbounds from the baseline,
01:20leading to C.J. McCollum making a half-court heave, which would have tied the game and sent the game
01:25into overtime.
01:26But it was determined after a view that happened just after the buzzer.
01:30It was their biggest win in over a month, their first win over a team with a winning record in
01:35over a month.
01:36They had been struggling against, you know, top-tier opponents and had been feasting on the bottom feeders of the
01:43league.
01:43So this was a big win for them, for their confidence, for everything moving forward.
01:48And we have a big game upcoming Thursday at MSG against the number two seed right now, the Boston Celtics.
01:55That is a massive game. It might be the final game that the Knicks actually try to win, depending on
02:01how the standings shake out.
02:02They might be locked into a seed after that. So all eyes now are on the Boston Celtics.
02:06Jason Tatum is back. The Celtics are playing really well.
02:10That could be the—very well could be another rematch in the second round of the playoffs.
02:16Yeah, but otherwise, a big win here tonight for—last night for the Knicks in Atlanta and moving on to Boston.
