00:00Brendan Soresby is headed to the NFL supplemental draft after deciding yesterday he was not going
00:06to attempt to return back to college football. And this, of course, supersedes any decision that
00:12was made by the court, which said that he could play. It's been a very complicated situation.
00:16If you're unfamiliar with Soresby, played at Texas Tech, ended up making some bets on sports
00:22and was ruled ineligible, then ruled eligible by a court, but the NCAA seemingly not having it.
00:28Well, one team that could potentially be in the mix for Soresby services is the Cleveland Browns.
00:34Todd Munkin spoke with the media a couple of weeks ago and weighed in on the quarterback.
00:40Not at all. I mean, that's not even come across my desk. I don't think we're in a position
00:45to want to go down that road. That's my opinion. That's not Andrews. And that I like the quarterbacks
00:51that we have. I think that's a slippery slope when you go down that irrespective of talent.
00:57Right? In terms of the situation he's put himself in. We all know what that is. He put himself
01:04in that situation. And we've seen in other sports with players that have been banned for
01:10life from playing in professional sports. I think that's a slippery slope to go down
01:14that road. Again, that's a question for Andrew and for management. But for my end of it, kind
01:21of a tough angle to go down that road and think that that's going to be your franchise quarterback.
01:28And then last night, Joe, Andrew Berry probably picked up the phone and Todd Munkin looked at
01:36his phone and it says Andrew Berry and he answered it. And he said, hey, Todd, remember everything
01:41that you said two weeks ago about Brendan Soresby? Yeah, we're just going to throw that out because
01:46we're going to put a bid on this quarterback. So Joe, for those who missed the story, it looks
01:52like he's headed to the NFL supplemental draft. Remember, that audio and video was from a couple
01:56of weeks ago. But it is kind of funny to see because I do think respectfully to Todd Munkin,
02:01he probably at the time thought, hey, I'm saying all the right things. This guy's not going to be
02:04eligible. And now he could be in a position to have to walk that back. I don't think there's any
02:09doubt that Cleveland's going to put I mean, Cleveland needs a quarterback, maybe not as badly
02:12as some of the other teams. But you're telling me that the Browns aren't going to try and toss a
02:16fourth round pick in just to see what happens. See, you know what they should do? They should
02:21make a trade with Texas Tech, send them Watson back and they take Soresby off the hands and good
02:27to go. You have to Sean Watson and and we'll take Soresby. But the reality is, listen, somebody is
02:35taking a shot on him. Somebody is going to take him. It's there are a lot of very quarterback needy
02:41teams in the NFL. Now, the funny part here, Craig, is that we thought this was the option for him
02:48regardless whether the judge had ruled in his favor or not. The prevailing thought was ultimately
02:54he was going to land in a supplemental draft and begin his begin his career. And the fact that the
03:00judge ruled in their favor, great. But I always thought he was likely not going to play for Texas
03:08Tech here. The sooner he's 22 years old, he's going to be 23 years old. So it's not like he's
03:14an 18 year old kid anymore. So he's he's got more than enough opportunity, I think, in the NFL. Six
03:19three to thirty five. Again, he mirrors what Jackson Dart was at Ole Miss. Very similar kind of game
03:27arm skills running. He was the most sought after transfer in all of college football this year. So
03:34that tells you everything you need to know. He would have been a first round pick without a doubt
03:39had none of this transpired. And he played this year at Tech.
