00:00Where are we going?
00:02We're going to meet the McClellan family.
00:04We have always dreamed of having pickleball court.
00:08Francis!
00:10You've got a lot of work to do, Francis.
00:13Yeah.
00:13Don't go too far back.
00:15Yeah, be careful.
00:16Whoa!
00:17Yeah!
00:17See how far you can throw it?
00:19Can you play pickleball with that machine?
00:23Oh.
00:24Here he goes walking.
00:26Ooh.
00:27Hey!
00:28Hi!
00:28Hi, guys.
00:29Welcome back.
00:30Wow.
00:31Oh, boy.
00:33I love it.
00:42Welcome to Peanut.
00:43Thanks for having us.
00:46Where are we going?
00:47Is it Chase or Ashley?
00:49Ashley's driving.
00:51I don't know where I'm going.
00:53I just wanted to show off my new boat to you guys.
00:54Head that way.
00:56All right.
00:56Back on Cobsy.
00:58We're going to meet the McClellan family.
01:01Okay.
01:02They reached out a while ago and asked if we could do a landscaping slash boathouse project.
01:08And I told them that's not really what we do, but we decided to try something new.
01:12Give Francis a shot to show his stuff.
01:14So Francis is the boss on this one.
01:17Francis is going to take the lead on this project.
01:19Working ten to two.
01:21I like it.
01:22Yeah, Francis does beautiful work.
01:23Francis has been working with us for a long time.
01:25What's up?
01:26Need some help?
01:28Ashley said go.
01:29No.
01:31Francis.
01:31He's come a long way.
01:33You know, it really gives Francis a chance to show off his stuff.
01:36Is he going to step it up if he's the boss and wear a tie?
01:38What are you talking about?
01:40There's some carpentry work that does go along with it.
01:42Oh, I see people.
01:44Look.
01:44They're here, Walt.
01:45Hey.
01:46Hey.
01:47It's just a good opportunity for everybody.
01:50I'm so excited.
01:51And something the family's looking for.
01:53How's it going?
01:54Welcome.
01:55Back in 2018, when dad moved into this camp, we had done a lot of updates to the inside to
02:03make it livable.
02:04And we feel like the kitchen, the living room, the bathroom, and the bedrooms are all in great
02:09condition.
02:10Hi.
02:11Hi.
02:11Nice to meet you.
02:13This is Walter.
02:14I'm Chase.
02:15And then over the years, we've definitely noticed that the outside has been neglected.
02:20And that includes some of the porches that are on the camp.
02:23And so our goal is to be able to enjoy the outside as much as we enjoy the inside.
02:28It's a beautiful place.
02:29Thank you so much.
02:30We love it.
02:31And continue to enjoy being up here during the summers.
02:33There's actually two houses on it.
02:36The one in the back doesn't need any work.
02:38It's in great condition.
02:39But what we call camp out front here does need some TLC.
02:44The camp has a few porches on it.
02:46What we call our sun porch here, where we spend most of our family time.
02:51There's an old and nasty rug that needs to go.
02:54It definitely could use some paint.
02:56And then what we call the sleeping porch up top.
03:00It is sinking a little bit.
03:02But it's charming otherwise.
03:04Like we would want to keep as much charm as possible, but make sure that it's safe.
03:08Front porch has a hole in the flooring.
03:12So every time there's a storm, we need to cut down trees.
03:15And the wood is now multiplying faster than we can burn it.
03:19We also have a boat shed.
03:21Two of the trees fell down.
03:23They knocked out the bottom post.
03:25And it's getting hard to get the boat in and out of the boat shed.
03:28So we need it reposted.
03:30And those natural skylights have got to go.
03:34Nobody wants natural skylights.
03:35No.
03:36No.
03:36So the big thing, our family loves to play pickleball together.
03:40And we have always dreamed of having pickleball court.
03:45That's a new one.
03:46That is new.
03:47Yeah.
03:47Some friendly competition.
03:49Yes.
03:49And what is pickleball for people who don't know?
03:51The best sport in the world.
03:53Are pickles involved?
03:55It's like tennis and ping pong combined, right?
03:57Yeah.
03:58Pickles are not involved.
03:59No pickle.
04:00Playing sports has always been something that we do as a family.
04:03Our dad is athletic and he's competitive.
04:05And at this point, we all have a passion for pickleball
04:09and would love to be able to do so right in our backyard.
04:12Francis!
04:14Usually you call, but you can yell.
04:16You know?
04:17You know, when we get here, we realize the cabin's in good shape.
04:22Francis can do a majority of the work.
04:23Wow.
04:24Look at him.
04:24Best dress.
04:26We're just on porches and, you know, make it a little bit pretty.
04:30And helping Francis out when he needs it.
04:31Meryl.
04:32Yeah, nice to meet you.
04:32Sarah.
04:33I'm Jenny.
04:34Jenny.
04:35There are a lot of porches though.
04:36So it's not like we're just going to be doing nothing.
04:39Yeah.
04:39And boathouse, it definitely needs a new roof.
04:41It needs to be re-stabilized.
04:43Well, either way, I think we're excited to help Francis out.
04:45Because I like landscaping.
04:47I know Ashley likes landscaping.
04:49No, I like Francis.
04:50So Francis, normally you come in.
04:52Yeah.
04:52Right at the very end.
04:54But this is a pretty big landscaping project.
04:57What do we got going?
04:58If you want, we can walk around and take a look.
05:00Yes, please.
05:00Let's go for a landscaping walk.
05:02This is a lot of land.
05:03Yeah.
05:04You don't see this that often.
05:05Super lucky to have this.
05:06And the more trees we lose, the more land we realize we have.
05:09But we want to take advantage of it.
05:11Yeah.
05:11Absolutely.
05:12We did stake off where we thought the pickleball court might be.
05:16Oh, it's nice and flat.
05:17And so it's going to need to be dug down, a good solid base.
05:21And then whether it's concrete or asphalt, on top of that, lines painted, everything.
05:28You've got a lot of work to do, Francis.
05:30Yeah.
05:31Yeah.
05:31Call us in and finish in touch this day, buddy.
05:34Yeah, it's a huge piece of property.
05:36What are you going to need?
05:38Gravel.
05:39Gravel.
05:40Dump trucks.
05:41Can you reuse all these piles of wood chips?
05:44Oh, yeah.
05:46What about the fire pit itself?
05:49Try to recycle and reuse everything.
05:51The McClellan family wants to give their property a refresh.
05:53So we'll start on the camp by jacking and leveling the first floor porch
05:56to secure the carrying beams to the second level and make both of them safer.
06:01Then we'll go inside to the sun porch and brighten it up with nice blue paint and new floors.
06:05We'll replace the shingles where needed and give the entire exterior a fresh new paint job.
06:10We'll fix up the boathouse with new posts and a new roof.
06:13And we'll get Francis in here to spruce up the fire pit area and build out a pickleball court.
06:18What's our time frame to get the work done?
06:20We have a lot of people out on the fourth.
06:23But if you can get started right after that.
06:25You know, we don't want to interrupt anybody's fourth.
06:27So after that, hopefully we can hit the ground running.
06:30So 11 weeks, Francis, you definitely have the bulk of the work here.
06:33Tables have turned here.
06:35Yeah.
06:35What do we have to put into the project?
06:39We have about $50,000.
06:41Okay.
06:41I think we just need a set of keys and then we can get going.
06:44We were hoping you'd say that.
06:46Great.
06:46All right.
06:47We just spent so much time out here together.
06:50And if we get the pickleball court.
06:52We'll be pickleball experts by then.
06:54Oh, good.
06:54We can come here and just all be together.
06:57Anything we can do to make it a heartbeat of the family would be great.
07:01We got to call the guys.
07:12Morning.
07:13Morning.
07:14Morning.
07:14We didn't get the pickleball court in yet.
07:16What?
07:17We haven't even started.
07:18I thought Francis was building the pickleball court.
07:20This is day one.
07:21Today we're at the McClellan camp.
07:23Francis is getting material loaded here.
07:29And we are starting work.
07:31What is going on with you?
07:33Well, Francis is always the best dressed guy on the job site.
07:36So I wanted to give him a run for his money.
07:37Francis still is the best dressed guy on the job site.
07:40Yeah.
07:41So Francis is here with his machine.
07:42He's going to start breaking ground.
07:43He's going to get rid of the stumps.
07:46Start hauling out some material to bring in the new fill.
07:50We need to get the boathouse cleared off so we see what we're working with.
07:54There's a lot of pine needles down here.
08:00Oh, look at it go now.
08:02Doing a good job, Ash.
08:03Thanks.
08:04This is sketchy.
08:05How does that work again?
08:07We need to get the shutters on the upstairs porch removed.
08:12These might even have to be cut off.
08:13Who knows?
08:14Get those back to the workshop, starting to get those repaired.
08:18You want to drill?
08:19You good?
08:19No, I'm good.
08:20You know, it's a drop-down shutter.
08:22There's two rods that help push it out.
08:24Do you have another pair of vise grips?
08:25Oh, let me see what I got.
08:26We need to detach the handle and unscrew the shutters from the outside.
08:31Ryan, we got it!
08:33Now we can take that shutter out, right?
08:35You always got to be safe when you're working on heights.
08:37Want to take that vise one out, John?
08:38Yeah.
08:41Nice thing about this, it's got a wide roof.
08:46Otherwise, it'd be a lot more challenging to take the shutters down.
08:49Uh-oh, you need something to pickle.
08:51Yeah, lift up on that.
08:53Yeah, be careful.
08:54Don't go too far backwards.
08:56Yeah.
08:56Oh, man.
08:57Okay.
08:58Hold on.
08:58Whoa!
09:04Don't go too far backwards.
09:05Yeah.
09:06Yeah, be careful.
09:08Here, you want me to...
09:09Yeah, our lakeside needs to come out.
09:12Two more inches.
09:13Oh, uh...
09:14Yeah, let's get into the screen.
09:17There you go, Chase.
09:18I got those.
09:20Okay.
09:21All right.
09:21Thanks.
09:23The porch system at McClellan's house is amazing,
09:26and that's what we're focusing on.
09:27We'll take this screen off real quick,
09:28and we'll send it through and go down the ladder over there.
09:31Yeah, this one's in horrible shape.
09:32The upstairs porch has these cool shutters,
09:34and they're all custom-built.
09:39So we just got to carefully take those apart.
09:41There you go.
09:42Oh, yeah.
09:43So Chase brought a ladder over there.
09:44Looked like he had enough room,
09:45but you have to pull those long pieces of metal off,
09:47so it got really close.
09:54Three.
09:54Yeah, buddy.
09:56It all worked out in the long run.
10:06What's up, buddy?
10:08Looks good.
10:09This is a stump.
10:11Stumpin'.
10:12This is the biggest stump I've ever seen.
10:14Uh...
10:14This is a two-for-one.
10:16Two-for.
10:17There's two in here?
10:18Mm-hmm.
10:19So are we going to play some pickleball?
10:21We need to make a scoreboard.
10:22You can make a scoreboard,
10:23but you don't hit...
10:24It's all on the hand, right?
10:25It's not like you're whacking.
10:26It's called Dinkin', isn't it?
10:28No, it is.
10:29Dinkin' and Duncan?
10:30Dinkin'.
10:31I feel like you know more than you're leaning on to.
10:33I do, too.
10:33Because you're like,
10:34I'm not playing!
10:36I just know I'm not playing a sport
10:37that you call Dinkin'.
10:38I play a sport called Cornhole.
10:42Good point.
10:43So you're sure you're not a secret pickleball player?
10:46The only thing I know about pickleball
10:48is it's called Dinkin'.
10:49I might have to buy a pickleball outfit.
10:51Yes, you do.
10:52I don't even know what it means.
10:54But I know it's a pickleball term.
10:56I want to see you break that stump up.
10:58Okay.
10:59Yeah.
10:59I mean, this is kind of a one-man show.
11:01Drake, come here.
11:02Out of the way.
11:02We did our piece fairly quickly.
11:04Got the shutters and the windows removed.
11:08Saw what it's going to take from the boat shed.
11:11And so it's really just sit back.
11:14I am Iron Man!
11:16No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
11:20And watch Francis dig.
11:22Come in here with a suck.
11:24Ah, yavel.
11:26We gotta grind her down a little.
11:30Trigger come!
11:31Trigger come!
11:32Come!
11:33Yeah, yeah.
11:34Spin bark here, boys.
11:36Spin bark.
11:45Shake it.
11:46Shake it out.
11:48See how far you can throw it.
11:50Yeah.
11:52I want to see you drive a dump truck.
11:54Can you play pickleball with that machine?
12:01Do you have any go-to process for tackling such baby stumps?
12:05A couple great podcasts here and there.
12:07Don't mind me just mixing some materials up.
12:14Slow and steady.
12:16Just work your way around.
12:18Yeah.
12:19Yeah.
12:23What's the next steps?
12:25Keep digging.
12:26You're the boss on this one, so when do you see us coming back?
12:29I'll call you when we pave.
12:30I think we should all be here when we pave.
12:32Oh, we'll call us before that.
12:34Really?
12:34Yeah.
12:35Okay, I will.
12:36We'll go, buddy.
12:37We're going to get out of here then.
12:38Okay.
12:39We'll take our chairs with us.
12:40Are you sure?
12:40Yeah.
12:41Bye, Francis.
12:42See ya.
12:43See ya, Francis.
12:44You got our numbers.
12:45Yeah, I do have your numbers.
12:46We'll be there.
12:47We'll be square.
12:48Close to square.
12:59Morning.
13:03Okay, that's going to pop up there.
13:05It's a foggy morning.
13:06It's a McClellan camp, and I'm going to start our portion of the project.
13:09Trigger, leave me alone.
13:12Good morning.
13:13You know, this project is focused heavily on Francis and the pickleball court and the landscaping,
13:19but we do have some things to do.
13:25Nice.
13:26That'll go in the save pile.
13:28It's a really cool porch system.
13:30You have a closed porch, open porch, and then that cool second-story porch, but everything's
13:34sagging in the middle, and there's a lot of water coming down, so I think there's some
13:38rot in here.
13:39So I think one thing we'll have to do is put some gutters on here.
13:42I think that would probably solve all this problem.
13:47So I'm going to start jacking up, get everything on even planes.
13:51Bring it back to life and get it safe again.
13:58Here goes nothing.
13:59And then we'll go from there.
14:05That's interesting.
14:06See that?
14:07That's just moving the scarf joint up in there.
14:11Moving that too.
14:16Now it's catching.
14:21So in theory, we've got to start from the bottom.
14:23We'll get the lower porch all jacked and leveled, and it'll level all the posts out, and the
14:27carrying being that supports the second story should become perfect.
14:33Oh, and one more for Wes Gardner, aren't we?
14:36Ooh.
14:38All right, we'll let that sit for a little bit.
14:42This is a pretty complicated porch system, so I'm not going to jack it all in one day.
14:46I just jacked not even an inch, and it was popping and creaking, and it came back, and
14:52it already smartened it up right here.
14:53So we'll get this where we want to go.
14:55Okay.
14:56We'll see if this is level, and if that doesn't respond, I think those might want to be like
14:59eight by eights or something.
15:00But there's so much stuff coming together in here that we want to go really slow.
15:09We're making progress.
15:11We're doing forensic demo.
15:13I like it.
15:14All right, Jacks.
15:17Biggest thing, as you know, just keep it on the top.
15:23Yeah, so BJ and I, we got the front jacked, and we're going to let it sit for a while.
15:26Now we're going to attack the cedar shakes.
15:28A lot of this cabin was redone.
15:30The inside's phenomenal.
15:31It's beautiful.
15:33So we're just focusing on the porches, really.
15:36These are old.
15:37The sun hits it all day long.
15:38It's south-facing.
15:40So we're going to strip these or replace these.
15:42This whole wall is going to get stripped.
15:47I can touch the sky.
15:51We've got our foam board going down here at the pickleball court.
15:53And that's what we like, just a little bit of extra insurance for these main winters.
16:01Wow, this is heavy lugging today.
16:04So we'll start with foam, and then we'll start backfilling.
16:08Dump it.
16:09And I'll do 8-inch lifts.
16:11So backfill 8 inches.
16:13I'm on the edge.
16:17Compact.
16:23Yeah, wet gravel packs harder than dry.
16:33Slow and steady.
16:36We're going to be here all day.
16:38And we'll bring this up to grade, get it ready for pavement.
17:08I thought we were playing pickleball.
17:10This isn't a pickleball court.
17:12This looks like basketball to me.
17:13No, we play pretty much anywhere.
17:15Nice.
17:16So today, my cousin Michael and my niece Eva are here with me.
17:19Hold on.
17:20I've got a few things here.
17:21And they have offered to help me learn pickleball.
17:25What did you bring?
17:26I didn't know much about pickleball, but I do know a lot about pickles.
17:29Got to get us in the pickle spirit.
17:31Love them.
17:31So I had some nice props.
17:33I got a pickle hat.
17:34That was good on you.
17:35Well, you haven't seen this.
17:37This is a whole pickle suit.
17:38Ooh, baby.
17:39And some pickleball sweatwear.
17:41Make me look good.
17:45I decided to wear the least embarrassing of the three.
17:49Oh, no.
17:51Oh.
17:53And I don't think that that actually turned out to be the case.
17:56You've got the two back courts.
17:57You're standing in one.
17:58Ashley, move over to the right.
17:59There you go.
18:00That's a back court.
18:01Yep.
18:02And up over here.
18:03Have you guys heard what this is called before?
18:05The kitchen.
18:06There you go.
18:06You got it.
18:07Yeah.
18:07So we want to stay out of the kitchen.
18:09There's so many rules already.
18:10So many rules.
18:11All right.
18:13Like that.
18:15Oh.
18:16Oh.
18:16Okay.
18:17No, I was out.
18:18All right.
18:18That was out.
18:19So I get a point for that.
18:21Okay?
18:22So now I say my score first, your score second, and I say what serve we're on.
18:27This is when it gets really confusing.
18:28So the score now is one, zero, two.
18:31Right?
18:32We'll just go with it.
18:33Okay?
18:33Okay.
18:34Casey would be so proud of us.
18:35Got it.
18:36Gah!
18:36Sorry.
18:39We didn't talk about it.
18:40We didn't talk about it.
18:41I'm sorry.
18:42What did you learn about me?
18:44I learned that pickleball is really fun.
18:51Gah!
18:52It's a point for us.
18:53So what is it now?
18:54Three, two, two.
18:56Three, two, one.
18:57Three, two, one.
18:57What's the one about?
18:58I don't know.
18:59I learned that I have no idea how they score.
19:03You!
19:04Yes!
19:06We're catching up to you.
19:08And I learned that Michael and Eva are pretty good.
19:14Oh!
19:17The school and the coach.
19:19So the information I'm taking back to the guys is going to be the pickleball does not use scoreboards.
19:25Okay.
19:26I can't stop laughing.
19:28Yeah, I mean, I don't want to make a scoreboard if they don't use scoreboards.
19:34So we have transitioned our project into a sign.
19:40Oh, game point!
19:41Yay!
19:44See, that's all they need to know.
19:46I learned a lot.
19:47I can't wait to play again.
19:49Hey, that was fun.
19:49Cousins family pickleball.
19:51I'm in.
19:52Oh, yeah.
19:52No big deal.
19:53No big deal.
19:54No big deal.
20:01Is that good?
20:02Good.
20:03All right.
20:05All right.
20:05We're back at McClelland's.
20:08Get out of the pizza.
20:09Get in the backseat.
20:10It's been about a week since I jacked and let things settle.
20:14Watch yourself.
20:17And we've got a plan.
20:19We've got guys working on putting up new cedar shakes.
20:24Reposting the boathouse.
20:30And getting a new roof on it.
20:37Done it?
20:38Yeah.
20:42But our biggest goal today is to get the front posted.
20:51Oh, nice cut.
20:56Oh, yeah.
20:58Love it.
20:59How's it look?
21:01Oh, it says it's absolutely perfect up there.
21:04This side here, it says it's absolutely perfect.
21:07God, what's wrong with that?
21:08Yeah, coming together now.
21:10Yes, we got a post on 45.
21:13And the second story responded.
21:15So all you got to do is secure that post on the end.
21:17It's going to be good as new.
21:18And once we paint it, you'll never even know.
21:23It looks great.
21:24Now I'm going to start getting the lattice back together.
21:27Great.
21:27Damn.
21:28I'm going to try to reuse as much of it as we can.
21:32I'll take that.
21:34And Christine's on the other side painting the cedar shakes.
21:37Once I'm done, she's going to paint all the lattice, the post, and the trim.
21:42We're going to give the whole place a nice new paint job.
21:49And it should go back together fairly well.
22:00So things are looking good at the McClellan camp.
22:02Asphalt has been put down.
22:04Francis is getting ready for pavers on the far end, right?
22:09What's going on? Yeah.
22:10Morning.
22:10How are you?
22:11Good.
22:11I think I'm going to do this one.
22:13Have at it.
22:13Okay.
22:14So like Chase was saying, we're back here at the McClellan camp.
22:17Things are going good.
22:18Finally, the pavement's down.
22:19And we're moving on to the next final landscaping, finishing touches sides of this project.
22:25For the carpentry side of the project, they've taken up the flooring, the little sunroom.
22:30And they've done a pile of exterior painting and have the place really looking great.
22:36Over at the boat barn, I saw them put the new roof on and straightened out the structure as a
22:40whole.
22:41So the front side of the McClellan camp, Chase and the crew have fixed the weak spots on the deck.
22:46They're going to be putting windows on the second floor.
22:49They are going to finish up today with installing the new gutters.
22:59Lovely.
23:00Today we are here back on lovely Carbassi Lake.
23:03Beautiful day.
23:05Is that far out enough?
23:09A list of things to do today.
23:11Spin it this way.
23:12Spin it that goes to the outside.
23:14Some screens.
23:15Some shutters.
23:16Some windows.
23:19Geez, you're good.
23:20A little bit of pickle court pavers.
23:23Oh, that good.
23:25Right?
23:27Oh, no, you got to pick it up.
23:29Pick it up.
23:29Pick it up.
23:30And it goes on the end.
23:31Yeah.
23:31Look at the lip there.
23:34If you look, stand back and look at this middle thing right here.
23:37Pushing that right up.
23:40Was this place jacked recently?
23:42Yep.
23:43That's why they're not fitting.
23:55We got one of the small skillies.
23:58We're on the small skilly right across your pencil line.
24:03Has it actually been nice to you lately?
24:06Because we could get her into running bricks.
24:09I'd plane this.
24:10Just plane it till it goes and paint her up.
24:13So pretty much we had the wood shop fabricate new upper deck screens and shutters.
24:19Eight quarter inch difference.
24:22Three sixteenths.
24:23And since the boys have leveled the front porch, which changed the outer measurements of the upper deck a little
24:31bit.
24:31But we ought to concentrate on the outside first.
24:34Get those shutters on.
24:36Yeah.
24:36So once we realized the screens weren't going to fit, we knew there was a possibility the shutters weren't going
24:41to either.
24:43So we brought them in.
24:47Tested them out.
24:50Oh.
24:51It's okay.
24:51The top doesn't even fit.
24:53Like I said, everything changed a little bit when they jacked and leveled.
24:59So basically what we had to do was shape the shutters.
25:04Okay.
25:05Okay.
25:06Test fit number two.
25:07To kind of fit in the opening.
25:09What do you think?
25:10Going to slide in?
25:11Oh ho ho ho.
25:13Two of the hinges line up, one does not.
25:16So move the one that doesn't.
25:17Right.
25:21Looks good to me.
25:25Push her out and see what happens.
25:28Let it shut on its own and see what it does.
25:31Yeah, perfect.
25:32It's not like that.
25:33But we got them.
25:37That food's going over.
25:38Ashley, she's been driving the Rhinestruck.
25:41Shape the shutters, shape the screens, shape the sills.
25:46So we were shape changers today.
25:50Sweet.
25:59The court's not ready.
26:00Things take time, okay boss?
26:03I bought an extra paddle for you.
26:05Are you serious?
26:06Yeah.
26:06Come on.
26:07I've been practicing up.
26:09Maybe after.
26:09I've been going to lessons.
26:10Practicing up.
26:11Maybe like after lunch or something, you know?
26:13What do you mean after lunch?
26:14I think we should try to get something done today.
26:16We have to work up the appetite.
26:17Where's Chase?
26:17He's gone now.
26:18They're here playing games.
26:20Today I am here to check the progress of the pickleball court.
26:24So listen, you want to help?
26:25You see the pad?
26:26Ryan had hip surgery, so I have been just taking care of him.
26:30I've been learning about pickleball, so I brought my paddles.
26:35I thought we were going to hit some balls.
26:37No, I think we should do that after lunch.
26:38So I'm working with you, is what you're saying?
26:40Well, you've pushed your brother out of this, so.
26:43Ah.
26:44Ah.
26:44Ah.
26:45Yeah, you know, the second I showed up with pickleball paddle and balls, Chase ran off.
26:51Okay, so what's happening?
26:52So go two by two.
26:54Okay.
26:56And then we just bang him in.
26:57The only thing that means to me is that he's afraid that I am going to beat him.
27:09Found this guy slinging gutters.
27:12I like what he has to say.
27:14Perfect.
27:15How are you?
27:15Good.
27:16Thanks for joining us.
27:17Absolutely.
27:18So on the front of the porch, on the top of the stairs, you can see where it's rotted
27:22out.
27:23The posts were definitely sagging.
27:27And one of the McClellan's worries was that the second floor porch wasn't properly supported.
27:32What's wrong with that, boys?
27:33We went through and reposted, re-supported everything.
27:37Is that how you're getting home?
27:38Yeah.
27:40I'll hitchhike.
27:41So we've met with Bob, who's a representative for gutters.
27:45Not going to bend it.
27:46Not going to try.
27:47Okay.
27:47And they're a heavy-duty gutter.
27:51That we're going to put on the McClellan camp.
27:57To help with drainage issues.
28:00To try and direct as much of the rainwater coming off the roof, away from the camp as
28:05possible.
28:06So that we don't end up getting into the same issues with rotting out the posts.
28:14Marvelous.
28:15That's lovely.
28:16Just lovely.
28:17Looks good.
28:18Looks really good.
28:19Chase, you hit yourself.
28:21You ever that?
28:21I have.
28:22Thought about hitting some other people.
28:24I was just going to say.
28:28That's brotherly love right there.
28:30Yeah.
28:31Francis.
28:32I was talking about Francis.
28:32Yeah.
28:34Porch is painted.
28:35Yeah.
28:37Upstairs porch, windows and screens are in.
28:39Yep.
28:40We're out of bricks.
28:41Good day.
28:42Good day.
28:43All right.
28:44Good job, everyone.
28:45Rock and roll.
28:45Let's go.
28:46Beautiful.
28:47Nice job, guys.
28:59Ooh.
29:00Dang.
29:01Wow.
29:02What's up, boys?
29:03Ooh la la.
29:04Look at that.
29:05Francis, you've been busy.
29:06Well, I started yesterday and I haven't let up.
29:10Do you work all night?
29:11The escalator does have lights.
29:14But don't let it fool you.
29:15There's plenty to do.
29:16So we've got a week left at the McClellan camp.
29:21And Francis has been very busy.
29:23It's almost like an amphitheater.
29:25It is.
29:26It is.
29:26Right out onto the lake.
29:27He got the fire pit installed.
29:30He got the area to the side of the house cleared up.
29:34He didn't take down any trees, but it looks more open.
29:37Way more open.
29:37Yep.
29:38Yep.
29:38Put down some sod.
29:40Made pathways over to the boathouse.
29:42Nice.
29:43Yeah, this looks great.
29:44Inside, we've got the guys finishing up flooring in the sunport.
29:50A little bit of stuff done just to finish off the pickleball court.
29:53Get some lines painted.
29:55And we can hand the camp back to the McClellans.
29:58Are you going to start bringing mulch over to cover those stumps?
30:01Sure.
30:02Yeah, so Jedi Dixie and I showed up this morning.
30:04Francis was putting the final touches on the fire pit area.
30:08There are a few more stones to set.
30:12Yeah, it lays down pretty nice, huh?
30:14A little bit more of a sod to lay down and just dress up the front area.
30:19Good morning.
30:20Morning.
30:21Hiya.
30:23Morning.
30:24Are those your work shoes?
30:26Uh, I got on my work jacket and my work shirt, but Ryan took out all my work shoes.
30:31You're lying.
30:32Yeah, but he cleans my car.
30:34No, he pays someone to clean your car.
30:36Well, he does that too.
30:39Okay, you need to take that cordless blower and clean off the pickleball court.
30:43All the water leaves everything.
30:45Okay.
30:46Because then we're going to heat it up so we can put the lines down.
30:48Okay.
30:49So, Francis has done an amazing job on the pickleball court.
30:52Oh, Francis, you put a nice row down here.
30:55The pavers are all in around the whole entire court.
30:59Oh, boy.
31:02The only thing left to do is to paint that pickleball court.
31:06Okay, okay, okay.
31:07Go find your friend.
31:14Yeah, I mean, Francis has never done a pickleball court, nor have we.
31:19Blow this wet spot.
31:21Real good.
31:22And we did our research, and we decided that a low temperature, fast drying paint is our
31:29best option.
31:31So, we dried off the court, we heated up the areas we needed to, blew off any moisture.
31:37Well, Matty, actually, this little, this is your corner, right?
31:41Yep.
31:41So, we should be 20 feet.
31:43Said I got the dimensions of the pickleball court, got everything measured out.
31:46All right.
31:46Chalk line.
31:48Lines chalked, nice and straight.
31:49Pull your end tight, Francois.
31:51Happy with that.
31:52Oh, look at us, y'all.
31:54I grabbed a couple of pieces of sheet metal, straight edges, nice and flat.
31:59So, Francis, we're going to stand on this.
32:02Because I'm big.
32:03Yep.
32:04Because I'm thick.
32:07So that we didn't have to tape down the lines, we could just reuse it, set it, roll
32:11it out, and then we lift it up.
32:12Move it over.
32:13Move it over.
32:14Again, we used a low temperature paint.
32:17Test number one.
32:19Water-based paint, something that will dry quickly.
32:21Ooh.
32:22Oh, I like it, Chase.
32:23I like it.
32:24It's going to be mint.
32:24It's going to be rosy.
32:26And roll it out.
32:28Okay, Matty, we're going to roll it back and just straight up.
32:32Reset it, roll it out.
32:34Just got a coat of paint down.
32:38And, you know, with regular upkeep by the McClelland, this court will be usable for many,
32:43many years.
32:44Hi, Heidi.
32:45Hey, how's it going?
32:46So once we got started painting the pickleball court, Heidi showed up.
32:49So I left the guys to finish it off because Heidi and I are working on the sign today for
32:55the pickleball court that says McClelland Court.
32:58What color do you want to paint it?
32:59What about if we do, like, green because it's pickleball?
33:02Ooh.
33:03Oh, I like that.
33:04I like that color.
33:05Nice job.
33:06Thanks.
33:07That green would look pretty for the pine cone project.
33:10Oh, yeah.
33:11While we're working on the sign, there are pine cones everywhere scattered about.
33:15Look at all the pine cones.
33:17I realize I haven't really done anything special for the interior of the camp.
33:21And we have the spray paint.
33:23You want to be pickles instead of pine cones?
33:26Okay.
33:27Let's get creative.
33:28Ooh.
33:29That's a pretty pistachio pine cone.
33:31It's a little bit cold out here.
33:33So we are going to take these.
33:35Oh, I like the minty.
33:36Yeah.
33:37And finish off the project back at my house.
33:40Love it.
33:41We'll place them in some sort of cool pattern.
33:44The final icing on the cake?
33:46Oh, yeah.
33:48It's like you're lighting the candles.
33:49Glue them onto a piece of board, put a nice frame around it, and then hang it up on the
33:53porch.
33:54Looks like a pickleball court to me.
33:57You ready?
33:58I don't know. Are you?
33:59Yeah.
34:00I know about pickleball now.
34:02I've had a lesson.
34:03Yeah, I'm a dinker, I'm a dunker.
34:05All right.
34:06What are you guys cooking us?
34:07You in the kitchen?
34:09I now spend more time in the pickleball kitchen than I do my own kitchen.
34:12You guys like it?
34:13Very nice.
34:15All right.
34:15So I guess your guys' work's done here, and now you can leave it up to us.
34:19Leave it up to them.
34:20Leave it up to them.
34:21Love it.
34:22All right.
34:23Nice job, guys.
34:24Yeah.
34:24Nice work.
34:32Grab a low and try to stand it up.
34:34Oh, yeah.
34:36We're here on, like, the last day, before the reveal.
34:41Everything's winding down.
34:42Oh, that was pretty nice.
34:45Yep.
34:46And Ashley's got her team getting the place all ready to go.
34:56So everything is looking great at the McClellan camp.
35:00I was able to take the painted pine cones home, and we pasted them onto this picture frame, and came
35:08up with a cool piece of art.
35:10So I think hopefully they'll love it.
35:13That looks good.
35:18Looks good.
35:19I like how the sign ties into the court.
35:21They are going to be psyched.
35:22They are.
35:24Let's go meet them.
35:25Let's go.
35:28Walter.
35:30Hey.
35:31Hi, guys.
35:32Welcome back.
35:33I want to look all over at you.
35:34I know.
35:36Walking up, I was really excited.
35:38I couldn't even imagine what was going to be done.
35:41Nice to see you.
35:42We are so excited.
35:43Just excited to see it come to life.
35:45Yeah.
35:45So Ashley and her team have been busy finishing everything off.
35:49Frances has been working quite hard to get everything wrapped up.
35:54Our painter, Christine, went through everything.
35:57New cedar shakes across this side, across the side facing the fire pit area.
36:03Look at that.
36:04And we added gutters.
36:06And, you know, there were a few structural issues out front we wanted us to look at.
36:10So we kind of went over everything with a fine tooth comb.
36:14And then Frances came in, did a ton of landscaping.
36:17And then Ashley's team came in and pretty did it up.
36:20Yeah, pretty did it up.
36:21Yay!
36:22All right.
36:23Well, there's a lot to see, so let's head on in.
36:24I know.
36:25I can't wait.
36:26All right.
36:27Theater shakes look so much better.
36:29So much better.
36:30They were falling apart before.
36:31Yes.
36:31Feels like it can look clean again.
36:33Yeah, clean.
36:34Yeah.
36:34And refreshed.
36:35Look at the floor.
36:37I was not expecting that at all.
36:39Let me see.
36:40Oh, boy.
36:42Wow.
36:43Wow.
36:43Oh.
36:45I'm obsessed with this.
36:46Love it.
36:47Yes.
36:48Wow.
36:50And so we found some pine cones out there.
36:52We spray painted them and made a nice little piece of art for you.
36:55Oh, that's great.
36:56That is beautiful.
36:58If you want to head upstairs and check up the upstairs porch, Chase will head up with you and Frances
37:02and I will meet you on the porch.
37:04Come out to the deck.
37:06Yes.
37:07Look, Walter.
37:08You want to see outside?
37:09We were worried about the structure of the sleeping porch before today.
37:14This is great.
37:14So you did a lot up here.
37:16Yep, yep, yep.
37:16Right?
37:17New shutters.
37:19Fixed up the windows.
37:21Leveled it out.
37:22Yeah.
37:23Yeah, new screens.
37:23It's a beautiful space.
37:25And now it's shored up.
37:28The windows were redone.
37:30They retained, you know, their uniqueness.
37:33We're really appreciative.
37:35Oh.
37:36What'd you guys think of that porch?
37:38Oh.
37:39It was great.
37:40It was so nice of it.
37:40Yeah.
37:41Great.
37:41But I love not having a hole there.
37:43I know.
37:44It's gone.
37:45I could walk on it.
37:46The small things.
37:48Yep.
37:49Love that.
37:50I can't believe.
37:52I know.
37:53We used to gather right there.
37:55It was a small fire pit.
37:56Yeah, we've kind of outgrown that.
37:57Yeah.
37:58We kind of moved into our new spot.
37:59I love this.
38:01Oh, look at how big that is.
38:03Yes.
38:04Wow.
38:05I feel like the view is so much better.
38:07It's a little bit amphitheater.
38:09A little bit elevation.
38:11Yeah.
38:11You had already had quite a few trees taken down.
38:14There was a lot of wood chips on site.
38:16And so Frances was able to reincorporate a lot of that.
38:19Made a pathway over to the boathouse.
38:21Let's go check that out.
38:23This was definitely a living roof.
38:25So then once everything was off of it.
38:28Stripped it back.
38:29Put a new metal roof on it.
38:30And resupported it.
38:32And added posts.
38:33Just to, you know, make it hold up and last.
38:35So you can keep using this great boat launch right here.
38:38This is a lot better.
38:40Yeah.
38:41Look at this.
38:42Wow.
38:43Oh my gosh.
38:44Wow.
38:45Look at the sign.
38:46I'm well in court.
38:48That's so neat.
38:50Oh.
38:51And the papers around.
38:51The papers around it are great.
38:53Yes.
38:54It's beautiful.
38:55That's really great.
38:56Oh, Frances, you outdid yourself.
38:58Wow.
38:58Wow.
38:59We insulated the whole thing.
39:01Everything is fabric.
39:02And we just started with gravel and compaction and building up and building up until finally
39:07we were ready for commercial paving.
39:09This is, this is forever.
39:11Nice.
39:13Perfect.
39:14Yeah.
39:14So we had $50,000 and 11 weeks to get the project completed.
39:18The court is ready to play.
39:21All that's left is to hand you over the pickleball.
39:25All right.
39:25All right.
39:26Well, have fun.
39:27Enjoy.
39:28We're so grateful.
39:30The winners are.
39:31Yes.
39:32Keep it friendly.
39:33Keep it friendly.
39:35Game on.
39:35I'm so grateful to the Cabin Masters.
39:39This place has become the heartbeat of the family.
39:42And now that heartbeat is even stronger.
39:45Aw.
39:47Thank you, Cabin Masters.
