00:00The vitamin C serum has gone bad.
00:01That's why she's got a yellow tint.
00:04Well, this is incorrect.
00:06Vitamin C serum typically has a yellow, kind of golden hue.
00:10So you really can't tell that it's gone bad by looking at it.
00:13I mean, if it smells bad, then maybe you could tell.
00:14But by looking at it, it's really difficult to tell.
00:17When you're buying a vitamin C serum, what's key
00:19is that the bottle should really be opaque,
00:21because vitamin C can be quite unstable.
00:24And so we take lots of precautions and lots of steps
00:27to stabilize.
00:28And because it's sensitive to light,
00:30we typically put it in an opaque bottle.
00:33The average shelf life, you know, it's hard,
00:35because different products have different ingredients.
00:38Some of them have more water.
00:39Some of them have more oil.
00:41Things to look for if your products are separating,
00:43that's a concern.
00:44Typically, you get about a year with your products.
00:47Things that have more water in them,
00:49you get closer to nine months.
00:51But typically, at about a year, you're safe with most products.
00:54Once products have gone beyond their shelf life,
00:57A, they're not as effective.
00:59And B, we start to worry a little bit about safety.
01:02Once those preservatives aren't working in the way
01:04they're intended to work,
01:05then you can have bacterial overgrowth in your creams
01:08or your moisturizers or your cleanser.
01:10So it's really important that you abide by those expiration dates.
01:12So just not that it's not very early in the morning before.
01:12So let's get rid of it.
01:12And then see if the price is really good.
01:12It's about 10 minutes.
