00:00I will say this there's a little bit of breaking news today as I was walking here okay uh I
00:04have
00:04flushed out Dustin Pedroia to finally get on Instagram oh really yeah yeah okay okay does
00:09that mean anything I mean as far as I don't know who knows I mean I just put up a
00:14picture of me
00:15wearing a t-shirt he said uh pd1515 says dang rob mixing a push-up I said is that you
00:22chirping
00:22me on an Instagram and he's like yes so I'm like okay all right you know baby steps here to
00:28get
00:28Pedroia back here but there you go well maybe that does mean something who knows I know that uh when
00:32Sam Kennedy was on with Greg Hill the other day they talked about a lot of things as I'm sure
00:37a lot
00:37of clips of these you know they got a ton of publicity but one question that was asked was
00:41they said have you been talking to anybody like and they mentioned Dustin Pedroia specifically
00:46and Sam Kennedy actually answered that by saying I talked to him a lot now he obviously was trying
00:52to play out or play it off as if there was anything important that you know recently that they've
00:56discussed like managing the team but does that sound like something Pedroia might one day want
01:01to go into one day is relative rich one day and I do think they would love to have Dustin
01:07Pedroia as
01:08part of this equation but Dustin Pedroia you know first of all it would be absolutely have for him to
01:13move across the country yeah and turn his life upside down it wasn't going to be like you're going to
01:18be in the in the legend suite waving your hand in the fifth fourth inning for whatever how much money
01:23you're paid so I think they would have to be substantial and right now as we sit here there
01:28is no scenario where where you would bring in a Dustin Pedroia and be like okay that's substantial
01:33yeah manager no GM no you know advisor to the GM no what about a co-GM like they have
01:40a coordinator
01:40on offense okay all right how would that work like how is low handles pitching right Dustin handles
01:45and what happens when Dustin Pedroia says hey Brez I think your pitching ideas stink well he can't say
01:51that Brez well you can't but again how's that which may have been may have been part of the
01:56problem in the former regime I don't know I have an idea man it's not a finalized I'm just a
02:00working material here you know I get it it's your work your workshopping answers to the Red Sox which
02:05is nothing wrong with that because we're all workshopping answers I don't have any reason to
02:09believe that Pedroia and ownership don't have a good relationship they paid him a ton of money
02:14obviously when he was oh they have a great relationship that's what I was about to say he's a big
02:17John Henry guy okay all right well that because because I mean but what would you see if I mean
02:22because it does sound like Sam Kennedy has been trying to get him involved in this team in some
02:26way like what position ideally do you think that there are looking to have him fill none I mean they
02:33they would love them to fill a lot of positions but he's not going to fill them well if what
02:37do you
02:37think they are trying to get him to fill they want him to come in here and be part probably
02:42I'm
02:42guessing part of the organization in some capacity where you know for instance Craig Breslow does not
02:48have a guy a dissenting view advisor type guy like for instance the Texas Rangers have a guy named
02:55Dayton Moore used to be the Kansas City Royals GM yeah he's that guy for them is he a no
03:00guy is that
03:01what you're saying like someone who goes no no he's just a guy who who's been around who has a
03:05lot of
03:05experience has thoughts and instead of you have a lot of the same sort of guys in the organization at
03:10least that's the perception of it and so they're all computers I mean I guess but but it's you know
03:18so you ideally you would have another guy there but Pedroia is not going to be that guy because I
03:23think Pedroia would ultimately like hey I want to have final say whether it's as a manager whether
03:27it's at the GM whatever it is and that's the yeah they would love for him to do that but
03:31there is
03:31not a scenario right now where that's a fit do you believe the Red Sox when they say not on
03:38the table
03:38the firing of Craig Breslow and on other words right now yes are they going to let him exist
03:44through the trade deadline I don't think yes and I think that this is pretty cut and dry to me
03:49if
03:49you're giving them a vote if you're giving him a vote of confidence right now is saying we're going
03:53to trust you through the trade deadline but with a big but we're talking about June and July I don't
03:58know how you get to the end of the year after making this momentous decision this this decision
04:03which is there is no room for interpretation this is putting a bullseye on them on the front office
04:09we did this because we thought this would make this team which we said has World Series aspirations
04:14have World Series aspirations yeah and if you get to the end of the year and that doesn't happen
04:19where you made this move which has never happened in baseball yeah you're firing five coaches in a
04:24manager yeah then everybody's job should be up for investigation what what did you what was the thing
04:30you took the most outside of the one comment where where you talked about Breslow's job being safe
04:34what did you get the most out of that Sam Kennedy Kennedy interview uh well I mean I think the
04:38the
04:39Roman thing was kind of interesting yeah straight up apologizing yeah but it's you just can't here's the
04:44thing you just can't do that like this is you and I know that Sam said hey I got the
04:50whatever the
04:51status report in front of me is and we all knew you shouldn't know by now everybody knows that a
04:56strain
04:57and a tear is the same thing you just cannot defend you had an hour from the report to when
05:03you went on the radio yeah you cannot come out and say that is definitively not a tear because
05:08ultimately what happens is exactly what happened with Roman Anthony people hear sprain it's one
05:14thing people hear tear it's another so they Roman by the way no update again today right he was
05:21running the bases oh that's good but crochet no update no crochet on top of it you just spoke to
05:26and he's trying to correct a record from a couple days ago right yeah he said it was said that
05:31his
05:31lat had gotten worse and it wasn't his lat it was basically his shoulder hadn't progressed like they
05:37had hoped and you know and so now he said I think the biggest thing to take out of when
05:41you met with
05:42crochet right now is he's like well he's an all-star break you know no I'm not coming back before
05:47the
05:48all-star break there's no really no scenario where that happens yeah yeah and but that's a setback I
05:53mean he said there's no setback but they don't know yeah but we know basically they're saying
05:57because we were saying how does the lack get worse when you didn't do anything with a lat and he's
06:02saying no it was misinterpreted of whatever you want to say it was not the lat it was not it's
06:08still
06:08a shoulder the shoulder hasn't bounced back like they had hoped and that's where we've landed where
06:14we land when do you think he'll be back like if just from august and what's the point then well
06:19yeah I mean it's listen you go back to spring training and the I've said this a bunch of times
06:25last year spring training at the end of February he's throwing 100 miles an hour in simulated games
06:32this year is up and down and you know you had that workload it didn't seem quite right all along
06:38and
06:38then you land in April and then you still haven't pitched for the manager that you've had for two
06:42months and so yeah I mean you have to if you get to august and you are out of it
06:48and you have any
06:49question about that capsule and to me guys that's another thing that's scary google capsule in a
06:55shoulder it's there's been a lot of progress in terms of treating this yeah but about five ten years
07:02ago if you had a capsule forget about it yeah yeah but so anyway it's not it's not great and
07:09and what's
07:10bizarre is that he's kind of the least of their concerns right now yeah right right I mean they've
07:15I mean it's right it's probably like 15th on the list well sort of but since he's been out there
07:19starting era is like four or something right I mean early and totally have been less good I mean if
07:23you had an young candidate in there that's the problem is that you can't keep leaning on early and
07:27totally and say go get him go get him go get him you're we're gonna we're gonna score two runs
07:32a
07:32game yeah and you hold it down and rangers on a 90 pitch count I mean yeah ranger suarez and
07:37and sunny I mean they're it's almost like they're taking on water they're the pitchers the starting
07:41pitchers are doing everything they can but as we said this when they did the whole run prevention
07:46thing you this is not sustainable for an entire year if you want evidence of that go across the
07:52field yeah talk to the texas rangers who tried to do that exact thing last year and ended up at
07:5781 and
07:5781 all right so rob it is hard to gauge how good of a job chad tracy is doing because
08:03obviously we don't
08:05think right now the team as put together I mean you have to you'd have to be a miracle worker
08:09to
08:10all of a sudden make all of this work to have any kind of expectation that he could turn things
08:14around
08:14but I want to know just from what you've seen in the locker room and the way that they're
08:18functioning behind the scenes they are historically bad team yet I'm not hearing a ton of complaining
08:24or drama out of the locker room is that a credit to chad tracy or how can you gauge how
08:30well of a job
08:30or how bad of a job I think he's done a fine job with what he's been given okay there's
08:35that's what
08:36it feels like yeah and and a big part of this was communication was the little things and I think
08:43in-game manager he's done fine and there's been some bullpen hiccups whatever it is but I think
08:48ultimately rich what this is what the chad tracy uh dynamic also represents is that this isn't about
08:55chad tracy much like this probably wasn't about alex cora and all those coaches yeah this was about
09:01the roster that was put together and everyone's talking we're back at fenway park congratulations
09:06and you're back at fenway park and everyone's trying to figure out why are you so bad at fenway
09:12park scoring runs and Isaiah kind of for left for when he got up there I think he was just
09:16trying to
09:16be a leader trying to be a guy trying to solve a problem that a lot of people thought was
09:21unsolvable
09:22here's the solution you need better hitters who hit better at fenway park yeah that's it
09:28yeah I mean that is that is it they are this roster is not conducive to hitting in the place
09:33you play
09:3381 games and maybe they'll score 10 runs tonight and they have before and we in you know pants off
09:39tarps off game you know like if they had a lonzo by the way by the way kilts off kilts
09:44off oh yeah
09:46you should see what i got underneath mine yeah yeah just a sweater to and fro i'm dragging these
09:51things like i'm bored so when people say tarps off while the scottish people what is this oh no well
09:57you know if they score over 10 runs it's kilts off that's what that's the tradition that's right
10:01you don't want to see that according to the people we've been interviewing you don't want to see
10:04no no no
10:04Good job.
