00:52And I'll tell you what, you are going to, I love this skirt band. Glitter, glitter, glitter. Well, very apt
01:00because the tour that you're doing, it's basically just great songs. It's kind of a party, isn't it?
01:07It absolutely is exactly that. It's just an excuse to, to get up on, on a stage, wear some sequins
01:13and sing everybody's favourite dance floor finners, really. It's, um, I'm really excited about it. I, you know, it's a
01:21chance for me to do a really kind of glitzy show. And I think everyone's just gonna, I want everybody
01:27to come and just sing along and have a really good night.
01:29This is good. So the audience, we're allowed to sing along. Absolutely. We're allowed to dance. We're allowed to be
01:33part of your party. Yeah. It's like you're inviting us all. Absolutely. I think, you know, we all need a
01:38bit of that every now and again, don't we?
01:40Absolutely. And whenever we do a step show, we always say, it's an excuse to leave all your worries behind
01:45at the door just for a couple of hours and come in and let yourself go and just have a
01:50bit of escapism.
01:51Exactly. And this is what this is. And this is exactly the same.
01:53So how many of you do you choose the songs that you're going to sing? I don't know. I think
01:58it's just going to be tough.
01:59Lots of years. I think it's going to be favourites of mine. I think, thinking about what the audience are
02:04going to want to hear me sing. There'll be a few step songs in there.
02:08I would hope so. Because I think, yeah, you know, Stomp is a disco dance floor filler. So hopefully that
02:14one will be in there. And yeah, it's not going to be easy. There might have to be a few
02:18medleys just to get them all in.
02:20Well, exactly. This is it. Just mashups. And it's from the 70s up until now. So it's not just modern
02:25hits or kind of 80s. It's from, we're thinking of
02:28disco and dance hits from the 70s up until now. So it's something for everybody, hopefully.
02:35Oh, no, absolutely. And you'll get, you know, you'll get people who have just kind of grown up with steps.
02:39Yeah. They'll be bringing their kids along. They'll be bringing their mums and dads along as well.
02:42Because this is the thing about the show that you're doing. It's for everyone.
02:45Yeah, it really is. It's everybody dance. Everybody dance.
02:49Yeah. Just like that. That's the thing you see in my head when I'm listening to steps and dancing in
02:53my kitchen.
02:54I'm kind of channeling you. But I don't really think that I do look like that.
02:58To be honest, I think that as well. Sometimes I would watch myself back and think, I'm sure I was
03:03putting way more effort in.
03:05No, it's great fun. And of course, as well as this, and you're going to be all over the country,
03:09aren't you?
03:09Yes, all over the country, starting in October the 14th.

03:17thing, which is great.
03:18As well as that, though, we have got steps to the musical to look forward to.

03:22Now, tell me what this is going to be. You guys are not in it.

03:25They're not avatars. They have, I.

03:27Yeah. One day, hopefully, we'll get to that.
03:30Just keep that in the background every minute.
03:31So what can people expect from the musical?
03:35So it's featuring our music. So it's not our story. It is a completely independent story that's been written brilliantly
03:42by Sean Kitchener.
03:44And it's, we had a workshop back in April where we've seen scripts from start to finish and had a
03:51taste of them singing our songs and hearing them in the way they're going to be performed.
03:56So it's not a story, but weaving yourself a story.
04:00It's actually, it's quite scary how, it's almost, the songs have been written specifically for a musical. It's really weird.
04:08I mean, obviously, that is the key to getting a jukebox musical right.
04:15But, um, it's, I, I don't want to jinx it, but I think it's really good. It's, you know, it
04:21made me cry. It makes you laugh. It's funny.
04:23Yeah.
04:23It's, there's a really lovely, heartfelt story in there. And it's just, I think, I think people are going to
04:29like it.
04:30I'm sure they will.
04:31Yeah.
04:31I'm sure they will. Of course they will. I mean, you've got them already with the songs. You want to
04:35go see those songs anyway.
04:36Yeah. And I hope that ultimately, yeah. And ultimately, hopefully it'll be musical where the people who aren't necessarily Steps
04:44fans can go and watch it. And the song, they really do stand up. They're, you know, they tell a
04:50story.
04:50And what I love about it is that you've all been very hands-on and you've all been involved in
04:54this. Yeah.
04:55I know it's something you want to do for a long time. Yeah.
04:57And, and that, that's important. I think that gives it that sort of, it's authentic. It's coming, you know, it
05:01works.
05:02We haven't just put our name on it. It's been something we've been working on for a very long time,
05:06actually. And it's really come to fruition now. And we're, it's exciting. It's so exciting. It feels huge. It really
05:12does.
05:13It's going to be great. It's going to be really good, isn't it? It just gets, the Steps universe just
05:17gets ready to bring it in bigger.
05:18Like, well, and it gives us a chance to, you know, for somebody else to perform it for a while.
05:23We can just sit back and enjoy it a little bit.
05:24Now, look, your kids must be teenagers now, obviously. Yeah. Are you the cool mother? Do they think you are
05:30cool?
05:30I don't know. I don't know about that. I mean, I try and, because there you are on the stage
05:34and doing all these amazing things.
05:35They did come and see me at Mighty Hoopla a couple of weeks ago, which I'm really pleased that they
05:40still want to come and see things like that.
05:42Oh, that's really good. Yeah, it's really, it was, it was a lovely day. It was a really, really lovely
05:47show.
05:47And it was, and they kind of had a little walk around, and then they were there by the side
05:51of the stage watching, and it's, it's lovely.
05:55My son's 17. He doesn't. Is your boy 17? Yeah.
05:5917. He's ready to drive. Yeah, he's actually having a driving lesson right now.
06:02Oh, he's adorable looking at the air. He looks so grown up.
06:06I know, it's scary, isn't it? He's a man.
06:07Is it, how do you be baby boy a man? How did that happen? With that beard and everything.
06:14He's so determined to pass really quickly as well.
