The death toll from the 7.9-magnitude earthquake that struck off Mindanao has risen to 53, with more than 680 injured and dozens still missing. Over 45,000 residents have been displaced, while thousands of homes and infrastructure were damaged. Authorities said on June 12, 2026 that they were now shifting efforts from emergency response to recovery and cleanup operations.
