00:00I'm trying to do more TikToks.
00:02Get in and have a career.
00:03Now, back to Stiney and Guru on 95.7 The Game.
00:09It's time for the crossover brought to you by Bay Alarm.
00:11Rest easy.
00:12We've got you covered.
00:12Bayalarm.com.
00:13Before the break, I said that, and I'm going to need Evan, your backup right here.
00:19According to the 650, they're saying, Stiney, it would have been out at Fenway Park.
00:25And according to Evan, you said no.
00:27Yankee Stadium was the other one.
00:30I thought you said none.
00:31Well, it was none, and then they re-ran the numbers.
00:34I saw two also.
00:36I saw one that said Yankee Stadium.
00:38No foul on the play, Evan said.
00:40They re-ran the numbers.
00:42Well, because I said, when he said it wouldn't have gone out of any other park, of course,
00:48being the baseball aficionado I am, I said Fenway?
00:51But they re-ran the numbers.
00:52Because of the pesky poll, obviously.
00:54You guys were on air for that bad boy.
00:56I found a video.
00:57I had to hurt you.
00:58So good.
00:59I should have been more dramatic.
01:00I didn't know that we were being filmed.
01:02I needed that.
01:03I mean, I saw it, and I saw him first, and then I looked over, and I'm like, oh, that
01:07thing is high, and it's deep.
01:09Yeah, it's out of here.
01:11And it is.
01:11Then we went to the bathroom and came back and saw it land.
01:14Stiney said he didn't think you were professional.
01:16I didn't.
01:17I was lazy.
01:19I was incensed, Mark.
01:22I was absolutely incensed.
01:24I mean, I didn't play.
01:27We did not know.
01:28No, you did a good job.
01:28We did not know that we were on.
01:30You put the hands up.
01:31That was not for effect.
01:32That was.
01:32You didn't know?
01:33That was my, we're 14 under 500 fandom still exists.
01:37And it's funny, because earlier, like, he, whatever, we go to the bathroom, and we come
01:41back, and Sue Sack had just knocked in a run.
01:43I'm like, hey, the sack, the sack is back.
01:46This game's not over.
01:47And he did the eye roll that your teenager would give you.
01:50I heard this part.
01:51The eye roll was crazy.
01:52And I was like, I only said it because I was trying to kind of piss him off, because I
01:57didn't think they'd come back, but.
01:58Who did?
01:59Well, I mean, nobody.
02:00Nine to one.
02:01Nine to one.
02:02I mean, the sack drove that in.
02:03I think it made it nine to five.
02:05And then, you know.
02:06You give up a homer to me, then the 10th, you're like, there goes our homer.
02:10There it goes.
02:1010 to six now.
02:12I mean.
02:12First batter.
02:14Not only was that the biggest collapse in the history of the NBA Finals, it wasn't the
02:19most unlikely comeback of the day.
02:23Come on.
02:24It's never happened as well.
02:25I read the numbers.
02:27It's never happened on that stage.
02:29The ESPN numbers were when De'Aaron Fox, when he actually made a basket, to put him up
02:3529, it was a 99.6% chance they'd win.
02:39Okay.
02:40The Giants, the Nats never got the 99%.
02:43Really?
02:44Not in the end?
02:45I'm just telling you what the.
02:46What was it?
02:47It was a 98.9.
02:49Ooh.
02:50Well, how about this?
02:50I don't buy it.
02:51I'm just telling you.
02:53Somebody brought this up, and I had completely forgotten.
02:56What?
02:57The Warriors blew a 31-point lead to the Clippers in the playoffs in 19.
03:05At Chase.
03:06We were there.
03:06Lou Williams went crazy.
03:07Okay.
03:08That's a, like, as rare as a 29-point comeback is, like, it happened in the playoffs less than
03:1310 years ago.
03:14Well, what if I tell you, Will, we've seen 1947, last time the Giants did it.
03:19So, it happened before.
03:20The 29 on the final stage, it's never happened.
03:23Yeah, but basketball game, I feel, I'm just going to have my feeling of a 30-point comeback
03:30in the NBA or an 8th-inning, 8-run comeback.
03:34No three-pointers in baseball.
03:35With, by the way, the other team scoring more.
03:38Like, they scored again.
03:40That just feels to me like we see that less.
03:44That's all.
03:44That's all I'm going by.
03:45I'm kind of with you, like, yeah, 29-point lead.
03:48That's a pretty big lead, and you shouldn't blow it, but, yeah, it's basketball.
03:51Oh, man.
03:52But, Giants, where they are, right, especially, like, the, kind of the situation they're into
03:58I thought it was a sweep, right?
03:59Like, an 8-run deficit in the biggest pitcher's park in America, where the other team then
04:05added an insurance run.
04:06When I saw that home run, I'm like, oh, just wow.
04:09Can I, I gotta, I do want to ask you about a play, hopefully you guys saw it, maybe you
04:13didn't.
04:13I did.
04:14Because I just heard, I just heard it, heard Flem call it.
04:18Okay.
04:18And I was like, no, I wish I could see this, because I, the play where Gilbert was back
04:23at the wall again.
04:24Oh, God.
04:24But, Will, I'm a defendant.
04:26I thought the sun got in his eyes.
04:27He didn't know where he was at.
04:29Brilliant.
04:30It is what he says.
04:31I didn't hear it.
04:32He describes it.
04:33But then he goes back, and he kind of says, would it have been, would it have been a tough
04:38catch?
04:39But, eh, and it's just like every conceivable, you know, gap was covered, and at the very end
04:46he was like, you can't blame Gilbert.
04:50As much as you'd like to.
04:52Yeah.
04:52It was a tough play.
04:54Missed time to jump, it felt like.
04:55Well, it's like his glove was in the wrong spot.
04:58That's all.
04:59There it is.
04:59I don't mind if you miss it, but when your glove is here and the ball is over here, you
05:07had it wrong, it looked like, you know.
05:10But, Dibs, you come down, but Butch had his baby boy, I get it, 9-1, Carter left, my son
05:16stayed.
05:16Any problem with anybody that left, or I'm giving them the license, get out of there.
05:20No, we've all left games that you look back and you go, man, I probably shouldn't have
05:24left, and mine is the pick at the stick, last game at Candlestick, and I was there.
05:29On a special pass, and I was there with a friend who had a Kinder's BBQ hookup, and
05:35so I'm in the Kinder's thing, and I'm going, you know, four, five, six deep, and I'm there
05:40with great seats, not media, and, you know, you look at it and you go, you know what, it's
05:45getting late, and I know how Candlestick is, I gotta get out of here.
05:49I do not want to be a part of the Candlestick crawl where it's gonna be 90 minutes or two
05:54hours, and so I looked at it and I'm like, you know what, this game is gonna end and someone
05:58will win, someone will lose, I'm out, and so I walk and I get about halfway across the
06:03parking lot, and you hear the, huh, huh, huh, huh, and you're like, oh, that doesn't feel
06:11good, and you come to find out it's, you know, a pick six, last game at the stick, the pick
06:16at the stick, and you're like, you know what, I should have stayed, but I didn't, so there's
06:20that. Okay, why did I think Cap's big game against the Packers was one of the last games
06:27at the stick? No, that, I think that was already Levi's, I believe? No, no, no, when he had
06:33180 passing and 180 rushing, that was at the stick, that was at the stick, I was at, that's
06:38Grandy? Yeah, that was at the stick, but that was a year prior. When Grandy pulls the mic
06:43down, when he pulls the mic down, it means there's information, it means he knows, and
06:49Grandy's different information, there's the right information. He's like Judge Wapner, like
06:54he pulls it down, it's like we have a decision. And if you put Grandy, Mike pulls against
06:59Steph Curry's free throw percentage, I'm taking Grandy, he's better than 91%.
07:05Well, not that time. There you go, that's a miss. Well, I asked something, I was watching
07:10the Giants two nights ago, and for some reason, I had the volume down, but I'm watching the
07:15game, and in the middle of the fourth inning, they show Buster Posey's grand slam from a game
07:19against Cincinnati in the playoff, and I'm like, what are we doing? It's 14 years later, like
07:27what, they're not playing the Reds, it's not a playoff game, and I'm like, does anybody
07:32know? Grandy. It was the, what was it, Grandy? The anniversary of Buster's first home run.
07:38Which was also in Cincinnati, they showed that highlight, and then shortly thereafter, they
07:42showed the grand slam as well. Oh, so they did show the original. You just saw the second one
07:47they showed. And told the story of how Matt Latos once threw a ball that broke Dave Fleming's window
07:52in his car, and that Dave had to fight years for Matt Latos to pay for it. I have heard
07:59that story.
07:59Yeah, yeah. But if you had the sound, they would know that that was on there. That was
08:03on there as well, yeah. Yeah, that's fine. I get it. They're 14 under. I get it. You
08:08can listen to music, and you can go to Underdog Cantina and Momos when the Giants are down
08:139-1 in the 8th. You can do that. You can, like, be a human being. We've been having some
08:17fun with Bryce after the game, saying that he wants to be the face of the franchise. It was
08:22not Pods-like to me. Steining thought it was weird. Your thoughts? It's only Pods-like if you've got
08:28Barry Bonds on the team. If he goes, you know what? I want to be the face of the franchise.
08:32And Bonds is like, yo, yo, hold on, young buck. I'm still here. The Giants don't have
08:38a Bonds. They've got Logan Webb, and, you know, if you believe John Paul Morosi. Well, that's
08:44a great question, Dan. He might be on the move. Webb came down my road on IG. You saw that?
08:51No. I told you yesterday. Did he? That's what you mean. I didn't get it. Wait, wait, wait, wait.
08:57But I don't hear this. No, you saw it. What happened? We put up a clip. Steining and I were
09:01going back and forth. It started with Steining said, he's not a one. And I'm like, he's our one
09:05with the Vitello, and I wanted him to be more demonstrative and get the ball. So Evan clipped it,
09:11and he responds. What did he say? Who are these guys? So, who are you? I can, I can, I
09:18can
09:18share a little bit with you. You were, you were only one example of this. Apparently, and
09:24I didn't see it. Oh. But I heard that MLB Network, some analysts there, had this, a similar
09:30take, which was, Logan should have dominated the ball. Okay, gotcha. I gotcha.
09:40He's pleased. Yeah, no doubt. With the take, because I think he was like, I gotcha. And I
09:46thought this, you can infer something from all of this. Logan absolutely wanted the ball.
09:53Hello. And the pitching coach shook his hand, and I think he already thought, by the time
09:59Tony talked to him, he already thought he had been taken out. And I'm no groupie, but
10:03I told Snyder, he knows who we are now. Yeah. No, he knows. And they watch and all of those
10:08things. No doubt about it. He was bummed by, like, I think. The perception that he, yeah.
10:12Because he's like, I've tapped out. We've crossed that bridge a hundred times. I've been
10:16here for a lot of years. So, he heard that in other places. Yeah. Oh, yeah. They didn't
10:20clip the part where I said, maybe he's gutless. Uh. Well, let's do that today, then. He's
10:26still looking. He's still got his phone. Yeah, we came down on roads. I mean, you gotta love
10:30it. I take it as a badge. And we always talk about Steph Curry being the petty king. Turns out,
10:35I'm sure a lot of these guys are equally, you know, engaged in what's going on, but how
10:41could you not be? It's one thing to, like, not be on social media and clap back, but Draymond
10:45does. But all these guys, I'm sure, are aware of everything that's being said, or tweeted,
10:51or Instagrammed, or TikToked. Yeah. I gotcha. You're listening to 95.7 The Game, KGMZF. I'm
10:58at HC1 San Francisco and Odyssey Sports Station, always live on the free Odyssey app, now broadcasting
11:02from the Laughing Monk studio. I'm trying to stay in the moment. I've told Sonny, as
11:06soon as we laid eyes on each other this morning, but this is just who I am. I'm a lover,
11:11not
11:11a fighter. Can this be a momentum builder or somehow turn around their season? We'll find
11:17out tomorrow. The Giants, with a win like that, or is it just a win on a Wednesday, goo, relax?
11:23So I'm going to answer this in two ways. There's the yes answer, but no, not in the standings.
11:30Well, that's a no. No, because what I'm going to say is like, that's a no from the perspective
11:38that you're hoping, but it does, it does sort of represent a turning point for what I think
11:44this season unfortunately is, which is you're looking for the development. You're looking
11:52for the future. You're looking for people to be excited about. And I think Eldridge and
11:56Schmidt and Jung-Hoo Lee, like you can be excited. Those are three names you got. You can be excited
12:01about all of those guys and never, none of them have ever worn another jersey and all those things.
12:05So they can be part of it. They don't have the pitching to compete. They just don't. They don't
12:11have the pitching to compete right now. Yeah, I mean, that's not going to change this year.
12:16I mean, could it? Yeah, it could. It could be the, it could be a turning point. I just feel
12:21like
12:21in baseball, like, I got you, man. Of all the sports, it's kind of the least one where you could
12:28have pivotal moments that you can point to just because there's so many games. You know, in the NBA,
12:35like a basketball game, you win a game, it can give you confidence in it. Like baseball, you could win
12:39a game and the next night you're facing Pedro Martinez. But I do agree that the season is now,
12:48well, like, something's changed now. And the way we'll talk about the Giants, let's say on
12:54Monday, it, it, some will be different. I won't be able to put my finger on it, but it'll be
13:00different than the, they stink and they're not, you know what I mean?
13:04It's awesome. Let's watch TV now, Dibs.
13:06If they win three games over the weekend and they come back and they'd be, you know, 10 down,
13:11it's like, well, four in a row, maybe, you know, guru looking for six in a row, but maybe they've
13:15got momentum at least toward 500 where Mark would talk about the playoff hopes. But I do think that
13:20between now and the deadline, most of the talk will be like, yeah, the young core, how are they
13:25doing? And then the older guys who's tradable, who Robbie Ray, eight innings, two hit, you know,
13:30two hit shutout. Maybe you, you, you, you trade him now.
13:33And not a lot of young core in that rotation. And then that's where the problem, I mean,
13:40Rupin McDonald, but they need more. And that's kind of my point is like, okay, everything that
13:45yesterday was, it's just a beautiful, memorable day in the city. But if what I'm worried about
13:50on a team is the pitching staff, then I'm not going to get excited about a win where the
13:54other team got 10 runs.
13:55I got you.
13:57You know what I mean? So that's all.
14:00I do feel like though, you're, you're, you're onto something where, you know, we've talked
14:05giants a lot this year and you know, it's about, they should be better. They're not very
14:11good. And I do feel like now it's like, even if they go through tough times, it's like, well,
14:18it's about Eldridge and it's about Schmidt and it's about Jung Hu Lee. And now will Webb be
14:24around. We, you know what I mean? Like it's, it's not, not quite as hopeless.
14:29Well, did you also hear what, what Marossi said about the trade deadline?
14:34Singled out the Giants as potentially the most interesting team in all of baseball
14:38approaching the deadline.
14:39I get that.
14:40And then kind of looped in the Tigers because I think we've all been preparing for the
14:46idea of.
14:47They just showed the place.
14:48Yeah, here's the play. We're looking at the replay.
14:51There'll be a replay, yeah.
14:51Here comes run number seven.
14:53We'll show the replay.
14:54Yeah, go ahead, Will.
14:55Anyway, my point, Tariq Scoobal is, is the prize of the trade deadline, but we don't
14:59actually know if he's available or not. And if he, especially if he's not available,
15:06the Giants could swoop in and make Logan Webb the absolute prize of all of the Major League
15:11Baseball deadline. I know that's emotional.
15:13I know, I got you.
15:14But you, you, there, there's a scenario that plays out where you get an unbelievable heart.
15:19And he's been up to old Logan Webb since the IL step. My good.
15:23My goodness. I hear you on the heart, but man, I would do it.
15:28Yeah. I mean, and if you're the Giants and you're looking at where you are now and where
15:31you might be next year, and this is what, you know, John Marossi said, and we'll play
15:34the clip when we get into our show. He talked about, well, I mean, the Dodgers and the Diamond
15:39Vax, they're both ahead of you as are the Padres. So between now and the end of Logan
15:43Webb's contract, are you able to really close that gap? If the answer is maybe or no, then
15:49it makes a lot of sense to go ahead and deal them now. Two more years of team control and
15:54then you might get a hole.
15:56Yeah. That's the thing. And look at the way he's pitched in his last time. He looks like
16:00he's back. And that was the best offense in the national league. That's his last performance
16:05against the Nats. Yep. Yep. Yep. And the Brewers before. Man. I don't want to trade Webb.
16:12I don't either. You're not that guy. You always talk about that. I want to get, I want to get
16:16a pitcher in here that's better than Webb. And then things will start looking a lot different.
16:23Yes. We were talking about two timelines and not for the Warriors, but for the Giants. And
16:27if you think about what they've done the last two years in the international market, they've
16:31found a couple of pups who are going to be here in, I don't know, four or five, maybe
16:36six years. And right now this team, you've got Schmidt, who's young, Eldridge, young, Jung
16:41Luli, quietly, still young. Elliot Ramos is young. And then you've got old guys. And
16:46it's kind of a little bit of a two timelines thing, I think, where you need to pick what
16:51you're going to do. Either you go all in like the Warriors did on older guys, or you
16:56start to shave off some of the old guys, Robbie Ray. And, you know, Logan Webb's not old,
17:00but, you know, he's a guy that you could part with and, you know, really start a rebuild.
17:04So, Stiney, you want them to buy? Because that's the only way you're going to get somebody
17:07better than Webb. No, I was talking more about free agency and stuff like that next year.
17:12Yeah. Oh, offseason. I mean, you know, Ray's got to be traded.
17:16No, I'm, I'm for trading the guys, the veterans for younger guys, but like, I'd like to see
17:23him get, I mean, a frontline pitcher to pitch at this ballpark.
17:28Like Gaussman or Rodon.
17:32They've done it.
17:35I'm not trying to be funny, but would you consider either of those guys a true ace or true one?
17:45I'd say Gaussman. Yes. I mean, Rodon at times, but yeah, I'm talking about like Scooble.
17:53Well, and you're talking about like a four or five or six year deal.
17:57Yeah. I mean, that's like, I'd like to acquire a pitcher who's young.
18:02Yeah, like Kyle Harrison would be a guy. You'd love to acquire.
18:05No, laughing. That's wow. That's perfect.
18:07Laugh now and cry much later.
18:09What if I throw a different scenario at you? Because I'm with you.
18:15I think most people, the Giants included in this moment, they don't want to give up Webb,
18:19but you're looking at these infielders where the idea is you're stuck with him.
18:25And what a word, right?
18:27Okay. So what if you had to, what if you attached Webb to Devers?
18:31Like stuck with Devers?
18:32Oh my. King's ransom.
18:34You take Devers in the whole deal, but you get Webb too.
18:36You get Webb too.
18:37Yeah.
18:38Or mostly a deal.
18:38Come on, man. That's the Cadillac fully loaded.
18:40It's a big blockbuster trade. And I don't know if the right scenario exists where there's
18:46a partner for that, but that's the kind of thing that you, it, that may help you.
18:52I mean, like Bryce Eldridge is, Bryce Eldridge is not going anywhere and I don't think he won.
18:58I want him playing first.
18:59Yeah, exactly.
18:59Okay.
19:00Exactly. And there's nowhere else to put either of them.
19:05So, I mean, I wonder if, if you'll let Devers finish at first base this year.
19:10And then you just, like, eventually Devers is going to have to become a DH again anyway.
19:16You would think, but he doesn't think that. He's not even 30 years old yet.
19:20Wow.
19:21We're talking about him like he's a warrior. He's not a warrior yet.
19:25His deal is up by the time he gets to the age of the Warriors.
19:30You know what I mean?
19:31Like, I mean, he's, how important, like, he's a big boy.
19:36This is just a philosophical, philosophical question.
19:41Why does Eldridge have to play the field?
19:44Couldn't he just be a DH?
19:46Why?
19:47I'm just asking.
19:49Same way Will Clark. Like, he's got a glove. You called him a bad defender?
19:52Well, he is.
19:53I don't think he is.
19:54He's not as polished as Devers and we know why, but, I mean, Stine, big boys bat and they field.
20:00Okay. I'm just saying, I wonder.
20:06What if he prefers it?
20:07Yeah, that's a good thing.
20:08What if he's a player who prefers the DH?
20:10I would be blown away, but I think my man wants to look at that.
20:14But, like, no, it's a fair question.
20:16I don't know if, my question would be, does it help your hitting or hurt your hitting if you're just
20:24sitting there?
20:24Well, we know Devers says it helps for him to play the field.
20:27I mean, most guys want to play the field.
20:29Like, you sit in the dugout on cold San Francisco nights and just sit there and you're on the field
20:35for four minutes a night?
20:36But if he did, it would definitely help their situation.
20:39Then keep Devers, you ain't got to go nowhere.
20:41There's also a positional flexibility thing to it.
20:43With these two guys on your roster, I'm not saying you don't want one of them to be your DH,
20:48but you can never have anyone else's DH.
20:51And they're pinch run candidates and they're just all of these things.
20:55I just think it's clunky, and it's not the only spot with the Giants that's clunky.
21:01Is there any movement on him playing outfield?
21:06Bryce?
21:07Yeah.
21:08No movement.
21:09I don't think it's, like, off the table.
21:11In other words, he doesn't move.
21:12Yeah, he don't have the wheels, right?
21:14He's just so huge.
21:15Yeah, like he's 6'7".
21:18I don't know where else he could put him.
21:20Although Dave Winfield was, I mean, is.
21:23I don't want to put him six feet under.
21:25He's a great athlete, though.
21:25Got drafted in all three sports.
21:27Bryce Aldridge?
21:27I mean.
21:28Dave Winfield was a.
21:29He got drafted in all three sports.
21:31Yeah, one of the best athletes ever to play baseball.
21:34But he also is, what, 6'6"?
21:36I don't know if he's 6'7", but he's a guy who could do it.
21:39Because I was looking at Wimby run up and down.
21:41I'm like, he's got some mean feet.
21:43But you don't.
21:44But you do.
21:44Like, you're tired, man.
21:46You ever watch Bryce run the bases?
21:48I know the Giants love what he's doing out there.
21:51He's been working hard on it.
21:52On his angles.
21:53It's just funny.
21:54But his angles are great.
21:55But it's just funny watching someone that tall, like, try to turn the wheels on.
22:00He's huge.
22:02How tall was Belt?
22:04I don't know.
22:056'4"?
22:06Oh, wow.
22:066'3", 6'4".
22:09Tall guy.
22:11Dwarfed by Bryce.
22:13Well.
22:14So you guys got quite the festivity.
22:16He's coming up today.
22:17And he's going to be fun.
22:18We're working on a few things.
22:19Oh, yeah.
22:19And you nailed the Wimby yesterday talking about, like, what he needs to do.
22:24And once he does what he needs to do, which is put on, like, 20 or 30 pounds of muscle,
22:29get a mid-range game, get a back-to-the-basket game.
22:32When he becomes that player, oh, my God.
22:36There's a lot of talk real quick about Fox.
22:38You've got to make those two free throws.
22:39You've got to not dribble and try to make a layup.
22:42You ruined him for the ball of that.
22:45If you want to talk about, like, and I don't want to say dumbest because that's kind of
22:48a mean way to put it, but the worst plays that you've seen in the finals ever, that's
22:54got to be on the Rushmore.
22:56There is online, if you guys want to see it on social media, some people have put together
23:00a compilation.
23:01I saw it.
23:02Of his second half.
23:03You know what that is, right?
23:03I do.
23:04It's a compilation sensation.
23:05Cha-ching.
23:06And it...
23:07Cha-ching!
23:08You want to text that to me, by the way?
23:09If you get a chance?
23:10The compilation?
23:10Yeah.
23:11No problem.
23:11He's going to be doing his show.
23:13Doing his own homework.
23:14No, it's fine.
23:15He's got a minute after I sign off right here.
23:17I'll do it.
23:17Plus, I got a bunch of live reads.
23:20Trust me.
23:21Will you respond, though?
23:22Baby Shaq.
23:22I'll watch it.
23:23I'll say thanks.
23:24Yeah, will you?
23:25I'll say thanks, and then I'll watch it.
23:26Just thumbs up it.
23:27Okay.
23:27I just want to know that you got it.
23:29I can do that.
23:29Okay.
23:30I usually don't like to use emojis.
23:31In fact, it's kind of stupid.
23:33I don't know why I do it, but I'll say, like, thumbs up and facepalm emoji rather than actually
23:38do the emoji.
23:39It's so dumb.
23:39You actually write it out.
23:41I write it out.
23:41You write out thumbs up.
23:42You write out facepalm emoji.
23:44Face palm emoji.
23:44That's correct.
23:46That's so easy.
23:47Now, that's weird.
23:49That's weird.
23:50Now, you are right on that, Goo.
23:51We can end it on that.
23:52Oh, God.
23:53The 95's having a game.
23:55I love the young people.
23:57You're right.
