00:29oh my goodness hey guys they're welcoming us under the bar cases
00:38get a little wet and eat look at this guy oh my gosh that's a big fish
00:48acres going down we made it we are in the marquesas how do you feel so happy
00:59I'm ready to be on land I'm ready to touch the grass I'm gonna hug a tree this gives
01:06a new meaning to you have to go touch grass I'm a tree hugger now I just want
01:10I'm gonna give a treat a big kiss I want to eat some fresh food and just not be
01:17rolling for a little while
01:19oh my gosh it's so
01:40bye bye
01:44the first few days were spent catching up on sleep and eating good food but we also had a few
01:50things we
01:50needed to take care of a line that had frayed during the crossing needed replacing and our
01:56ladder needed some welding once everything was fixed and we finally felt humid again we were able to
02:02properly start taking in where we had arrived
02:10in sailing there are really high highs and really low lows the passage was definitely one of those lows
02:19but not long after arriving in the marquesas this experience made all the 28 days at sea feel worth it
02:44and we worked with you personally got to move on to the rope and you're all in the background that
02:44to the beach as the Angusian city of the river and you're ready to see us for a couple of
02:45hours
02:45now I am going to be able to go check out the lake and to give a treat
02:45and like a little bit more of it
02:45the next day after the lake is not going to see you
02:45you know
02:45you know
03:36One thing that surprised me was just how big Nuka Hiva is.
03:40Kate and I spent an entire day exploring by moped, and still didn't see half the island.
03:49On another day, we hiked an incredible ridge line with views stretching across the valleys
03:54and coastline, which actually brings us to our sponsor that made this video possible.
04:05You know, one thing we didn't really expect when starting this YouTube channel is how
04:09hard it would be to stay connected to everyone while literally sailing around the world.
04:15Half the time we're offshore with terrible Wi-Fi, and half the time we're onshore on some crazy
04:22adventure.
04:23But at the same time, we have to keep up with sponsor emails, messages, and update you guys
04:28while bouncing between five different apps.
04:30We've been using Brevo to organize it all in one place.
04:34What's actually made the biggest difference is the automation side of it.
04:37Instead of manually replying to the same questions or trying to keep up while we're offline,
04:41we set up simple workflows that handle emails, responses, and automatic updates.
04:46It's also all in one setup, so we're not bouncing between a bunch of different tools
04:51and paying for different apps.
04:52And the way the pricing works is based on how many emails we send out, not how big our
04:57contact list is.
04:58So it stays predictable even as our audience continues to grow.
05:02On top of that, there's tools for launches, updates, landing pages, and detailed analytics,
05:08so you can actually see what's working instead of guessing.
05:10We didn't really expect to be using something like Brevo when we started, but it's made it
05:15easier to keep things organized while we're living and working on the move.
05:19So if you run a business, create content, or you just want a better way to manage your
05:25online resources, we'll leave the link below.
05:31All right, guys.
05:32So we haven't done a talking section in a long time, and obviously a lot has happened since
05:38we've done one of these, so we thought we'd sit down and catch you guys up.
05:43All right.
05:43Question number one.
05:46Unuro Numbo.
05:47What?
05:47Numero...
05:47Numero Uno.
05:48That one.
05:50When are we getting married?
05:51The big question we've been getting for the last month, basically.
05:55Kate, when are we getting married?
05:56Probably next year.
05:58We don't have a date by any means just because we're so busy, but definitely next year.
06:02This year's way too busy to try to plan a wedding for...
06:05Too busy.
06:06Yeah.
06:06We're living on a sailboat.
06:07Life's super chaotic.
06:08We don't really know where we're going to be a month in advance, so...
06:11A good chaotic.
06:12It's a good chaotic.
06:13We're having a long time.
06:14Speaking of knowing where we're going to be in a month in advance, where are we going
06:18to be a month from now?
06:19We're going to be in...
06:22Well, a better question is, who's going to be here in a month from now?
06:27His family is coming out to the boat for a couple of weeks, and some of his friends.
06:31It's going to be a full boat.
06:34It's going to be really fun.
06:35Our friends.
06:35Our friends.
06:36They're my friends now.
06:37Our friends.
06:38Our family.
06:40About...
06:40What was it?
06:41Four months ago, did we call Trevor and Kalen?
06:44Shout out, Trevor and Kalen.
06:45Yeah.
06:45So, four months ago, we called one of my mates and his girlfriend.
06:49Funny story.
06:50They both have names that start with K.
06:52Kate and Kalen.
06:53So, it's going to be confusing.
06:55But, four months ago, I called him and I'm like, hey, I miss you.
06:59I want you out here.
07:01Let's get you out here.
07:02So, we started planning it.
07:03And then it didn't look like it was going to happen.
07:06And then one night, I got him on the phone and I'm like, hey, either this is going to happen
07:09or it's not going to happen.
07:10We've got to decide tonight.
07:11And then a lot of chaos ensued and then we made it work and they're going to be here in
07:17a month.
07:18And we're so stoked.
07:19I'm really excited.
07:21Especially for Kalen.
07:25I hope they watch this video.
07:28Okay.
07:29Question number two.
07:31Why don't I wear my wedding ring or my engagement ring?
07:35It's because I am a very active person and I don't want to lose it or break it.
07:40So, I just wear a replacement ring all the time or I just take it off because it's easier that
07:45way.
07:46When you're on a sailboat, you're doing things with your hands and places where stuff could get lost so easily
07:50and it could just slip off or you're in the ocean, jumping in the ocean and slip off.
07:55You don't even notice it.
07:56Or it could rip my finger off when I'm climbing something.
07:58But he usually does wear a different ring, just not the nice one.
08:03Not a nice one.
08:05Not the engagement.
08:06A lot of girlies, they'll get it.
08:07They'll get it.
08:08People are saying we're getting engaged super young and super fast.
08:14Let's address the fast first.
08:16Yep.
08:16Okay.
08:17A year engagement, I think it was actually like 11 and a half, 10 months.
08:21That might feel fast to a lot of people.
08:23And I agree that could be fast.
08:25The difference between us and a regular relationship is we spent every single day together for the last 10 months.
08:34And besides three days.
08:35And outside of that, we were doing everything together every day and we were on passages, we were on long
08:44road trips, we were in stressful situations.
08:46You know, we got put in literally just about any kind of bad situation you can think of.
08:52So like, as far as just testing the relationship goes, we've been through just about all of it at this
08:58point.
08:59Well, I wouldn't say all of it.
09:02I wouldn't say all of it, but I'd say we've been through more of it than a regular couple would
09:06be through in like three years.
09:07I definitely agree with that.
09:09For sure.
09:09For sure.
09:10So it may feel fast.
09:11As far as us being young goes, we are young.
09:15Yep.
09:15It's definitely true.
09:16We are young.
09:17But I feel like when you know, you know.
09:20Mm-hmm.
09:21And waiting until you're 25 isn't really going to make a difference.
09:28And a lot of people say, well, your frontal lobe cortex isn't fully developed.
09:32You don't have the ability to make decisions like that.
09:34You don't really know who you really are.
09:35And that might be true.
09:37But I think a cool part of that is that as your brain does develop, you're developing together.
09:44So all those, you know, thought trees that you have in your brain, they're growing together instead of by yourself.
09:50So instead of growing apart as this like individual person, they're growing together as this team.
09:56People ask a lot, how do we pay for the sailboat?
10:00And are we paying for the sailboat?
10:02So this is obviously not our sailboat.
10:04We can't afford a nice sailboat like this.
10:06We're super grateful to be able to have this experience and be on board a awesome sailboat.
10:12But what we are pitching in for is we're splitting the costs of passage.
10:17So things like, you know, gas and food and, you know, what else?
10:22Gas, food, data, what we just talked about.
10:25Data.
10:26We all split work on the boat too, even though that's not cost.
10:29But yeah, it splits work.
10:33Yeah, just provisions and all that stuff.
10:36There's really actually not that much, but we all split it and that's how we all pitch in for it.
10:41And insurance.
10:42We split insurance.
10:43Yeah, and insurance.
10:44Yeah.
10:44Insurance for the boat.
10:46There are some costs.
10:47There are definitely costs, but we didn't have to pay the base cost of getting a boat.
10:51Buying the boat.
10:51Which we're super grateful for.
10:53We understand we're lucky to have that position.
10:56Yeah.
10:57What's coming next?
10:59Okay.
10:59So we talked about my family and friends, our family and friends getting here.
11:04It's our now, our family and friends.
11:07But after that, after they get here, we're actually leaving.
11:11We're going back to Oregon for a little bit.
11:14We had kind of a family reunion, you could say.
11:17We got the exciting news that my sister's having a baby.
11:20So we're having a baby shower.
11:22It's going to be so fun.
11:22It's going to be so exciting.
11:23I'm going to see my nieces and nephews, which I haven't seen in so long.
11:27Excited to see them.
11:28And then after that, we have the barn to go finish.
11:31So we're heading back to Montana and we're going to finish the barn.
11:34And then depending how long that takes, we might road trip the west coast of America for a little bit.
11:40And then after that, we'll come back out to the boat.
11:43And we haven't decided yet.
11:45We're either going to go south towards New Zealand or we're going to go north to the North Pacific and
11:49explore the explore.
11:50We're going to go explore the Royal Marshall Islands and Palau and Indonesia.
11:56And that's what Kate and I are hoping to do.
11:58It depends if everyone else wants to do that or not.
12:00Because I don't think Kate and I want to take on the boat by ourselves yet.
12:04No.
12:05After Marquesas, we head to the Tuomotos.
12:08So, next video, we'll see you guys in Tuomotos.
12:12Bye!
