00:00Yes, I'm comfortable, in fact, telling you, there is a Giants game that is still ongoing.
00:05The Giants are getting blown the bleep off of their field yet again.
00:10The game is absolutely over.
00:15High drive.
00:19Right field.
00:22Out of here.
00:26And this game is over.
00:34I'm the biggest moron of all time.
00:37Now, back to Dillard and Wibs on 95.7 The Game.
00:42And boosh.
00:44That's a boosh from Grandy to you.
00:48Boosh.
00:49Yeah.
00:50Ouch.
00:50I do believe Kipe and I both ended our rants with the exact same phrase.
00:56This game is over.
01:00Right.
01:00His was when it was actually over.
01:02His was better.
01:03You said a little bit more edge to it.
01:05This game is over.
01:09I am so happy to be an idiot today.
01:14You can go ahead and cut that one, too.
01:15I'm just glad your eyes are okay because Susack with a little bass knock as you were returning from the
01:21restroom.
01:21And I said, cut it from nine to five.
01:23You were being sarcastic.
01:25A little.
01:26I liked what I saw from this offense.
01:28Your eye roll was so deep and so hardy.
01:31I was concerned about the old corneas, those baby blues.
01:36I'm upset.
01:38This has been a really awful season.
01:41Yeah.
01:42And this is now the signature moment.
01:45And for.
01:46So far.
01:46Until the next, like, letdown of a game, this is going to be an awesome one to hold on to.
01:52The rest of today.
01:53Tomorrow's an off day.
01:54We can bask in it.
01:55And then we can turn our attention to a weekend series.
01:58The Cubbies are coming to town.
02:00Exactly.
02:00You can throw the records out.
02:01Blah, blah, blah.
02:02But forget the standings, forget the wild card, forget everything that's happened in this moment.
02:07What we just saw from that player in that spot and another Grand Slam, another one.
02:13Yeah.
02:14What is that?
02:15Seven now?
02:15Sounds about right.
02:17Seven Grand Slams.
02:18And I think five of them are in the last, like, 20 days.
02:24We had a neck and neck battle between Grand Slams and blown saves.
02:28Right now, I think it's eight, seven blown saves.
02:31Stay in it, Grand Slams.
02:33You hang in there, Salamis.
02:35Yeah.
02:36They didn't blow the save today.
02:38Maybe this is their new philosophy.
02:39Right.
02:40You know, if we don't get the lead until the bottom of the ninth, we don't need a bullpen.
02:43Uh-huh.
02:45That's just not checkers right there.
02:47I like what Vitello's doing here.
02:50Right.
02:50That's good planning.
02:51Hey, guys, let's just score at the end, and then we can leave Keaton and Caleb and all
02:59of the other people who are in that other room.
03:02We can just leave them there.
03:04Right.
03:04They did.
03:05And we can go ahead and pitch, is it Rainiel?
03:08Rainiel?
03:09I mean, you told me earlier that Tristan Beck was option, and I said, who'd they recall?
03:14San Martin.
03:15Right.
03:16And I was like, what?
03:18Yeah.
03:18Sounds like an Italian liqueur.
03:20No.
03:21I don't even...
03:22Reaver.
03:23I don't know if I'm pronouncing it right.
03:25Reaver San Martin.
03:27Yeah.
03:27Gets the wind.
03:28That's his name.
03:28Yeah.
03:29Yeah.
03:30And the Giants are having one of those years where if you do watch every night, you'll turn
03:33the game on, and you're like, ooh, who is this guy?
03:36Where...
03:37Like, if you don't know...
03:38If you're not super tapped in, there's a new reliever who shows up every day.
03:42And that's because they don't love the ones that they have.
03:47And the people that they're about to call back up, you know, Jason Foley just had a little
03:53bit of a setback.
03:54I was a little surprised that Ryan Walker hasn't been called up for this series.
03:58I do think he might get called up for the Cubs series.
04:01He's...
04:02And I know that triggers some people, but he has been pitching really well down on the
04:06farm.
04:07And let's be real.
04:08They need him.
04:10They need him.
04:10They need big league relievers.
04:12They need relievers who have stuff.
04:14And Ryan's got stuff.
04:16He just, you know, struggled.
04:19I don't know if you reinsert him into the closer role, but they need guys down there who will
04:26get some outs and throw some strikes.
04:28So I'd expect to see him soon.
04:30Brace yourselves.
04:32Yep.
04:33But anyway, if you're just joining us, a banner day in San Francisco.
04:38The weather could not be better.
04:40Sunsplash day.
04:42I went down there for the first inning.
04:44This was still something else I was going to bring up.
04:46You know, and I, if you want to see, like, you all know what it looks like.
04:50But I walked in with some friends right at first pitch.
04:54You would not believe what third and King looked like.
04:57And I took a video of it and put it on my IG story.
05:00And I was like, this is what 14 games under 500 looks like.
05:05Place is jammed.
05:06Yeah.
05:08Absolutely jammed on a Wednesday at lunchtime for a team that's 14 under.
05:13Spectacular weather.
05:14Just beautiful.
05:14And honestly, if you are out by where I live, which is in the East Bay, we're looking at
05:18mid-90s today.
05:20And if you're even further east, you're in the low 100s.
05:22And so you're looking at the forecast and you're thinking, man, kids are out of school
05:27for some of us.
05:28And it's going to be 103 here.
05:30Let's go to San Francisco where it's only going to be 78 or whatever it is out.
05:34It's a picture postcard day.
05:36Baseball's still fun to go to.
05:38And you never know what you might see, Mark, when you go to a ball game.
05:41Well, you never know.
05:42And then they fell down 9 to 1.
05:45And then for the same reason a lot of people showed up to the ballpark, I think it's the
05:48same reason some people left.
05:50You know, it's 9 to 1.
05:51And they're like, well, we're here.
05:53And let's see.
05:54It's 3 o'clock on a Wednesday.
05:57And it's sparkling outside.
05:58I bet the bars surrounding Oracle Park are doing rather well.
06:02would be my guess.
06:04I was at Momo's before the game.
06:07I was doing rather well.
06:08So, you know, people headed out and said, let's just go get a couple of cocktails.
06:13The Giants are down by 8.
06:16And it was probably in those bars on the TVs that many of the ticket holders watched the
06:22Giants erase a 9-1 deficit and win 11 to 10 on a 21-year-old shooting stars.
06:30Welcome to the Biggs moment with a walk-off Grand Slam.
06:33And I would say to those fans, had it been 1991, go ahead and save that ticket stub.
06:38That's going to be a keeper.
06:40But I don't know if we do ticket stubs now.
06:43It's either a printed out 8.5 by 11 piece of paper or you could screenshot your e-ticket.
06:48But neither one of those can go in a scrapbook and none of those can go up on eBay.
06:52You could print out the screenshot.
06:54And I'm sure some people still get tickets issued or is that completely a thing of the past?
06:59Oh, I think that's a thing of the past.
07:01Because this is definitely one of those ones where if you had something to prove that you
07:05were there for Bryce's first Grand Slam, a walk-off slam to come from eight runs down.
07:12Tell your friends tonight, no, no, no, look at my Apple wallet.
07:16No, no, no, I was there.
07:17I was there.
07:18Look at my Apple wallet.
07:18Check out my IG story.
07:20I stayed.
07:21I think about when I went to the game in 2021 with my then lady friend, now wife, when
07:27they were down 7-0 and Yaz hit the Grand Slam to bring them all the way back.
07:31And five years later, almost to the day, I'm still remembering it.
07:35And it still is one of my favorite Giants memories.
07:38I'm sure they're not listening.
07:39But a shout out to some of my absolute best friends in the world.
07:44He's gotten a lot of run on the show this week because he's been in town and we're playing
07:47golf.
07:48We're playing golf again tomorrow, by the way.
07:49But John Bloom, the voice of the Suns, Scott Engelman, Craig Pond, John's big brother,
07:54Michael Bloom.
07:55I met all of them at Momo's before the game.
07:58They went in.
07:59And as we got to the eighth inning and then the ninth inning, I did fire off a text.
08:04And I just said, please tell me you stayed.
08:09And all I got back was a picture of the whole group right in front of the scoreboard that
08:15says Giants win.
08:17They didn't move a muscle.
08:18Nice.
08:19Then they got pissed at me for asking.
08:21Fair.
08:21They're like, what kind of a question was that?
08:23Well, you know how we do.
08:25Hopefully they are listening because we can talk about when it was nine to two and you're
08:29screaming, this game is over.
08:32And not in Kypian fashion, but in the angry Mark Willard fashion.
08:35But I mean, we didn't turn it off.
08:38We kept it on the screen here.
08:39Mainly because what else are we going to watch?
08:41I wouldn't have left if I was there.
08:43I mean, like you're sitting there with your friends in sunshine.
08:46What's wrong?
08:47Where are you going to go?
08:48Yeah.
08:49Order another beer.
08:50Like we're good.
08:51You need a beer?
08:52Yeah.
08:53Yeah.
08:53Yeah.
08:53So whatever.
08:55But, but yeah, yeah, I'd have bet my last dollar that the Giants had already lost that
09:03game.
09:04Yeah.
09:04I mean, they had, you said it was nine to one in the seventh inning.
09:08What are we doing?
09:08And it's funny because we, there's a kind of a unwritten rule in our business of you
09:12don't talk about something that is on your competitors airwaves currently, which is why
09:17during these day games, we don't usually talk about it because we don't want you to be hyper
09:22aware of something else other than Willard and dibs, which is all you really need to focus
09:27on, on any given day.
09:29But today you were so outraged and they were getting so blown out that go ahead.
09:34I dare you to switch over to, to whatchamacallit, the sports follower and try to, uh, see about
09:40catching some of that crap.
09:42You want to get excited about a quote?
09:44I already am excited.
09:45Yeah.
09:46I'm excited, Jeff.
09:47You want to get even more excited?
09:48Sure.
09:49I'm going to give you an appetizer and then I'm going to give you the main course.
09:54Appetizer.
09:55And this is courtesy of our good friend, Alex Pavlovich.
09:57By the way, 888-957-957 if you want to celebrate with us.
10:01Uh, the Giants are 13 games under 500.
10:03Whatever.
10:04For one afternoon, it doesn't matter.
10:06This is, that, that, that was the best.
10:08That was the good stuff.
10:10Absolutely the best stuff.
10:12Anyway, Pavlovich says, was Bryce Eldridge thinking about a homer in that situation?
10:20You know how batters are.
10:21It's like, you're not supposed to try to hit a homer.
10:23You're supposed to try to hit it hard.
10:26Were you thinking about a homer?
10:28Eldridge, quote, yeah, honestly, end quote.
10:33Yeah, yeah.
10:35Yeah.
10:36Here's the banger.
10:39Bryce Eldridge on the walk-off slam, quote, I want to be the face of this franchise.
10:47I want to be in that moment.
10:50I want to be that guy.
10:55So it was pretty special.
10:57Yeah.
10:58You, uh, you're becoming that guy.
11:0121.
11:0221.
11:02He's 21.
11:03And in the cut you played before, and I know you have a few of them on your board, he
11:06talked
11:06about how he had already visualized it.
11:09And so you're in the on-deck circle and you know you're going to get up because there's
11:13nobody out.
11:13And you're thinking, if the bases get loaded, I can see myself putting one up on that little
11:18green roof out there.
11:20Not quite to the water.
11:21That would be a little too much.
11:22That's arrogant.
11:23I mean, that's a little much.
11:24A little much for me to go splash slam.
11:26We got some more years ahead.
11:27But he talked about visualizing it.
11:29I think this is the one you're talking about.
11:30I'm looking for a pitch to drive.
11:33Being on the on-deck circle, I think the only thing I was envisioning was Jungi getting
11:37on base and being in the game.
11:38And I think the mind's a powerful tool and I saw it before it happened.
11:43So that was pretty cool.
11:44But yeah, I was just looking for a pitch to drive and I got one hanging and I'm glad I
11:49did what I'm supposed to do with that pitch.
11:51I did what I'm supposed to do with that pitch.
11:53I saw it before it happened.
11:55Bryce Stradamus.
11:56And, you know, shout out God upstairs.
11:59He gave immediate credit to the big fella or, you know, whoever else you want to put the
12:04worship in.
12:04But that power of visualization, you're not supposed to have that at 21.
12:09You know, you're supposed to still be like wet behind the ears and the moment's too big.
12:14And, you know, I was just looking for a pitch to drive.
12:16No, he's like, I saw Jungi getting on and yeah, I visualized it and self-fulfilling prophecy.
12:23I did that thing.
12:24And then I did it.
12:25Then I did it.
12:26Then I got drenched and mobbed and yeah, we win.
12:29This is a guy who hit what should have been a game-winning double on Monday night and says
12:32he went to bed pissed because when the bullpen forced him to come up again, he struck out.
12:37And he's been wearing that for 48 hours.
12:42And then there's this.
12:44There's this.
12:45There's this walk-off Grand Slam.
12:48He walked, I think, at least one, I think two other times in this game as well.
12:55There was a, just a wonderfully, and I mean this in the right kind of way, the right kind
13:01of arrogance moment earlier in his previous at-bat.
13:062-2 pitch, fastball, right on the outside corner.
13:104-4 umpire, ha, rings him up.
13:13Bryce reaches all the way up to his 6'6 head.
13:16He's got long arms if he's that big.
13:18Tap, tap, tap.
13:20You mentioned yesterday that he's 4-0 in ABS.
13:244-0.
13:24Change it.
13:255-0.
13:26That ball's an inch and a half outside.
13:29Ball three.
13:30Next pitch, high.
13:32Ball four.
13:34Take your base.
13:36This is the moxie of a veteran.
13:40These are the words of a veteran.
13:42This is the thought process of a veteran.
13:45These are the big leagues.
13:47They're coming for them.
13:48They're going to get a book on them.
13:49I get it.
13:50But at the same time, if you spit on the pitches that are out of the strike zone and you
13:58have
13:58this kind of barrel rate on the balls that are in the strike zone, there ain't a whole
14:03lot that the bigs can do with you.
14:05You're a problem.
14:06And for him to have accelerated this quickly through all of these situations is mind-boggling
14:15and absolutely the most exciting non-playoff thing that has happened to Giants baseball
14:23in, I don't know, a decade.
14:27I'm not overstating it.
14:28I'm like, again, not talking about the standings and making the playoffs.
14:32But as far as an individual that you want to remember all the discussions about, I want
14:39a jersey to buy, I think you found it.
14:42Size XL, he's big.
14:44It's funny you say that because I was walking around.
14:46You went to the park.
14:48I got off Bart early and I did like a three-mile loop near the park and I'm looking at
14:52jerseys
14:52and really the only current jersey I was seeing was the old 51 from J.H. Lee.
14:57I saw a lot of Posey.
14:59I saw some Hunter Pence.
15:00Of course, you see some Timmy Lincecum.
15:02I saw a few Matt Cain jerseys as well.
15:05But as I was looking, walking the streets, I was thinking that same thing.
15:09Like the jerseys of the current team, even Chappie, you don't see a lot of Devers.
15:15You don't see a ton of Adamas.
15:16Certainly not a rise.
15:17And, you know, you see some Logan Webb out there for sure.
15:20But beyond that, this is now going to be the hot seller.
15:23It has to be.
15:25Oof.
15:26This is, it's a feeling that we haven't had in a really long time.
15:32You know, sometimes people think about, well, okay, the Giants not that long ago had multiple
15:39championships and there was a lot of homegrown stuff on those teams, you know.
15:42There was Buster Posey and then all the pitchers, Lincecum and Cain and Bumgarner and, you know,
15:50throw Pablo Sandoval into that conversation.
15:52And so a lot of us have experienced that.
15:56And then you stop and you go, well, that was like 15, 16 years ago.
16:02I mean, I look at that as, well, these are completely different people.
16:07You know what I mean?
16:08Grandy couldn't vote or drink yet.
16:10I hadn't had my 40th birthday yet.
16:14Damn.
16:15Um, like that's a completely different world.
16:18I only had two kids that I know of.
16:23Kaboom.
16:24Yeah.
16:25You're right.
16:27Whatever.
16:28I mean, anyway.
16:30But you know what I mean?
16:31I do.
16:32That's forever ago.
16:33That's a long time.
16:34And so tell me, um, since those four guys, if I, or even five, let's put Pablo in there.
16:41Since Pablo, Buster, Timmy, Mad Bum and Cain, who is the homegrown giant that has excited you since then?
16:53Probably Logan Webb.
16:54Okay.
16:55And that's fair.
16:56Yeah.
16:57And I'm trying to think of a position player and I'm struggling a little bit to, to come up with
17:02that one.
17:03Because even the ones that have looked good for a little bit, they have either fizzled out like Elliot Ramos.
17:09He made an all-star team.
17:10Yep.
17:10That counts.
17:11And, you know, since then he's been, he's been fine.
17:14Fine.
17:14But he hasn't been that exciting.
17:16Casey Schmitz got you excited now, but not to this level.
17:18Not to this level.
17:19No.
17:19And even, even like, I hope that I'm able to sort of explain myself here.
17:26Logan Webb, that's a, it's a different experience because he's only there once every five days, number one.
17:32And number two, I just think there's two different kinds of athletes in terms of fandom.
17:37And certain guys are really, really good.
17:40And then other guys are just poppy.
17:44And they've got some sort of a skill set that's just out of control.
17:50And, and therefore it, it resonates in a different way.
17:54That's kind of how I would describe Steph Curry.
17:56Like, he's not just good.
17:58Like, oh, he's a really good homegrown player.
18:00No, he's iconic.
18:01And he has a skill set that is not anything we've ever seen.
18:06Logan Webb, like, if you're a baseball fan, you really appreciate what he does.
18:11But he doesn't even really touch 95 on the gun.
18:14He doesn't, like, he's a tactician out there.
18:18The, what, what we're seeing with Bryce Eldridge arrive here and do, that's eye poppy.
18:24Six foot seven, hitting bombs, um, and, and just changing the entire lineup at age 21.
18:32That's different.
18:34That's just different.
18:36It's completely different.
18:37And you look around baseball and there are seven or eight other teams that have this,
18:41a young phenom who is precocious, making his real debut this season and doing well.
18:47But I think the point for Giants fans, it's been so long as you were just laying out so long
18:53since you had a homegrown position player who was able to come up and have that kind of impact.
18:58It's almost like you'd given up on it.
19:00You know, Oracle Park.
19:01We got to change the dimensions because right center field is, man, you can't do it.
19:06And Bryce, boom, to center.
19:08Bryce, boom, to straightaway right.
19:10So it's not the day to have that conversation.
19:12But the fact that he's making that park look small-ish in a very small amount of time.
19:18And today was a great hitting day.
19:20I don't know if the wind was blowing out, but the ball was traveling really good.
19:24Yeah.
19:25It's crazy.
19:25He's got four home runs now.
19:29I don't think he's got a hold of one yet.
19:31Like, got a hold of one the way that he can.
19:35He's got four home runs.
19:36Two of them have bounced off of the arcade.
19:39He had the one last night, straightaway center that was, you know, over the fence by about 10 to 15
19:46feet.
19:46He's swinging easy.
19:47And then he had the Colorado one, which was a bomb, but it was Colorado.
19:50So you just, you know that if you put that anywhere else, it's not going to go as far.
19:57I'd almost love to ask him that question.
20:00I'd love to ask him that question and sort of see if he feels he's really, really gotten a hold
20:07of one.
20:08Because he had some in the minors.
20:11You'd see the clips and the highlights.
20:13The type where he would swing in the outfield would never move.
20:17Just like, whoa.
20:19Right.
20:19And I know, especially when he was in sack, the ball really, really travels well there and all of that.
20:24But anyway, I just, to me, that's what's so exciting about it.
20:29If this is what you look like now, where's this going next?
20:32There's no way that his learning curve is not still steep.
20:37There's so, he's going to get so much better.
20:41Yeah, and we don't want to do too many comps to superstars in the making, but I think about when
20:47I heard that Victor Wenbanyama and Stiney's been talking about, he doesn't really have a post him up back to
20:54the basket game.
20:54And he doesn't have a mid-range game.
20:56And already, Wemby is one of the easily 10 best players in the league, maybe top seven, maybe top two,
21:02if you want to go by the MVP.
21:04But think about Victor Wenbanyama, when he adds those other things to his game, such as 30 pounds of muscle
21:10and a back-to-the-basket post game and an off-the-dribble mid-range game.
21:14It's almost going to be unfair.
21:16Well, I'd love to get into this conversation further as we move into the 5 o'clock hour, 888-957
21:22-9570.
21:23Look, we're going to celebrate this, but I'll remind everybody that the discussion that we were having prior to that
21:30ninth inning where the Giants scored five and ended it with a Bryce Eldridge walk-off grand slam,
21:34the discussion we were having leading up to that was actually much more about Rafael Devers, who has been fine.
21:43Not really what the Giants signed up for all in all, but even if you're still a fan of Devers,
21:49and I'm going to put myself in that camp, I like Rafi Devers.
21:52I know who that dude is.
21:54That dude's a great baseball player, and he has held his own at first base, and he had a beautiful
22:00May.
22:00He homered today.
22:02I think Rafael Devers is, you know, it's been a little disappointing, but I think he can still get to
22:09where he wants to go this year,
22:11but there's completely a bigger issue at play.
22:15I mean, that's what we were talking about.
22:18How do you go the next seven years with both of these guys on your team?
22:23I don't know how you do it.
22:24Like, he's got to play first base, doesn't he?
22:28Bryce does, yeah.
22:30And so does Rafi Devers.
22:31I mean, if you want to have just those two as your first base DH combination, well, it takes the
22:37bat away from somebody.
22:38If you want to go out there and bring in another right-hand hitter who could also be your DH,
22:43then your roster becomes a total chokehold at those two spots.
22:48All right.
22:49We've been teasing this all day, and so we'll let you know again.
22:54If you want to win a $500 gift card to the Golden State Store so you can drip dad out
22:59for Father's Day, here we go.

23:28and then again with us tomorrow afternoon.
23:30More chances to win, so good luck.
23:32I would tune in to the Joes tomorrow.
23:34Joe Shasky did leave the game early with his son, but was out there,
23:39and I'm already making that appointment listening to get his reaction on air to that.
23:45But before we do that, we actually have his social media reaction, which I'm told is pretty funny.
23:53Let's see.
23:54Let's see.
