00:00The 2026 World Cup is right around the corner, and if you're like me, you'll be avoiding those crazy ticket
00:05and travel prices to enjoy the matches from the comfort of your own home.
00:10But what settings will get your TV the best-looking matches?
00:13For this video, I will be using the Hisense UR9, but regardless of what model you have, you'll still see
00:20similar settings based on my recommendations.
00:22They just might be called something different.
00:25And if you happen to be shopping for a TV, I've got you covered there too, with links in the
00:30description for some of my favorite picks.
00:34I'm sure most of you are thinking, wouldn't I just change the picture mode setting to sports?
00:39Well, let me be the one to tell you, cinema is actually the way you want to go.
00:45Sounds counterintuitive, I know, but cinema mode is going to give you the best-looking image.
00:50Sports mode makes the colors oversaturated and adds all this other processing that will just make things look bleh.
00:58Put it in cinema mode and you're at a good starting point.
01:01If things look too dark or stuttery, fear not, we are not done yet.
01:06White balance would be the next thing to look at.
01:09Neutral or cool is the way to go.
01:12Cinema makes things look a little bit warmer to give that filmic feel that we're all used to when we
01:17go to the movies.
01:18Neutral or cool will get rid of that yellowish tint to give you those accurate colors without the cinematic flair.
01:30Speaking of cinema, most of you probably have motion smoothing disabled or set to film mode.
01:35And if you don't, please disable it when watching shows and movies.
01:41Please.
01:41But for sports, here's what you want to do.
01:45Look for your motion smoothing settings.
01:48Make sure judder is at the lowest settings with blur reduction up to the highest setting.
01:55This will help make the sports content feel more lifelike and action-packed,
02:00which is exactly what we want in such a constant back-and-forth sport like soccer.
02:10Another want that I have for the sport of soccer is consistent 4K HDR broadcasts of games.
02:16And although we are starting to see that, most of the soccer we watch here in the U.S. is
02:21still broadcast in 1080p HD.
02:24But keep in mind, if you have Fox 1, you'll have 4K broadcasts of the World Cup.
02:30For the rest of us, go ahead and boost the sharpness setting a tad.
02:34Try to keep it at about 15 max.
02:38This will bring a little more clarity and detail to your match without making things look too fake or artificial.
02:45Also, final touch, adjust your brightness so it's within the 65 to 70% setting.
02:50For sports, this is a nice area to be in.
02:55Let's not forget the importance of sound though, guys.
02:58If you don't have a soundbar, first off, I would definitely recommend you get one,
03:03and even the cheap ones will be better than your TV speakers.
03:06I've got you once again with links in the description for some of my suggestions.
03:10If you're still going to just rock the TV speakers, look for a setting that helps boost dialogue.
03:15It's different per TV, but this will be helpful in not drowning out the commentator's voices from the crowd.
03:26All right, you guys are now ready to watch the World Cup at home the right way.
03:32Hopefully, you found this video helpful, and if you did,
