00:00New York has been ranked second among all states for porch pirates. If you are lucky enough to not
00:06know what this is, it's package theft from your front porch or in New York City, more often your
00:12building's lobby or vestibule. New data estimates package thieves stole more than $1.2 billion
00:18worth of deliveries across the Empire State in 2025. California, though, took home the top prize
00:24with more than $1.5 billion worth of goods pilfered. I have personally been a victim of this crime in
00:31the Golden State, and I can tell you it sucks. Behind New York, Texas, Florida, and Pennsylvania
00:37rounded out the top five. The figures land as millions of households lean on home deliveries
00:41for everyday purchases, regularly leaving unattended parcels sitting outside doors, apartment blocks,
00:47and mailrooms. The data was compiled by SafeWise, and in this, their eighth year publishing the report,
00:52they estimated that these Grinch vibes are rampant. 104.3 million packages were stolen nationwide,
01:00creating $14.9 billion in consumer losses and around 90.8 million theft incidents.
