00:00President Donald Trump blamed Iran for downing a U.S. Army helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz
00:04and said the United States must respond. U.S. Central Command says the crash happened about
00:093.30 a.m. local time Tuesday off the coast of Oman. The helicopter was on patrol near the
00:14waterway that Iran has effectively closed since its war with the U.S. and Israel. An unmanned
00:18drone boat located two Army aviators who were aboard the Apache attack helicopter when it went
00:23down. Trump sent in a social media post that both service members are safe and uninjured,
00:27but the United States must of necessity respond to this attack. Military officials didn't say what
00:32caused the helicopter to go down, saying the crash was under investigation. The helicopter went down
00:37as the Middle East is still reeling after Iran and Israel exchanged fire just the day before in the
00:42biggest blow yet to the strange ceasefire. Officials have been unable to turn the April ceasefire into
00:47a deal to permanently end the conflict, particularly as Israel intensifies and expands its military
00:52campaign in Lebanon against the Iranian-backed militia Hezbollah.
