00:00And here he is. He was on base for Seager's game winner Friday night.
00:05Went yard himself and Sunday's win outfielder Wyatt Lankford here with you on the fan.
00:10And a good afternoon, sir. How the heck are you?
00:13Hey, guys. How's it going? I'm good.
00:15It's going good, man. You feeling pretty good this weekend?
00:20Good to get back out there after the stint on the shelf?
00:23Yeah, great.
00:25You know, it's always good when you come off the I.L., especially for an extended period of time like
00:31that.
00:31You know, it's just good to be back playing baseball with these guys.
00:37Especially with the wins here lately, do you feel like you guys are starting to play your best baseball?
00:44Yeah, yeah. We're playing really good right now.
00:47You know, we've won, obviously, the last couple of series.
00:51You know, we're looking to just keep it going.
00:54I mean, I feel like we're playing really well.
00:56The pitching's been great pretty much all year.
00:58And the bats are kind of coming around right now, playing good defense.
01:01So, it's definitely a lot of fun when you're playing good.
01:09Was that your first time you've ever hit a home run so hard that a fan could not catch it?
01:13And you end up now having to sign a fan ball to give back to them.
01:17That entire story was pretty amazing.
01:19What was your perspective on this?
01:21Yeah, yeah.
01:23I mean, this is the first time as far as I know, I guess.
01:27But, yeah.
01:28I mean, I didn't see it originally.
01:31I was too busy riding, obviously.
01:33I got back in the dugout and everyone was kind of talking about it.
01:37And I ended up seeing the video.
01:39And, I mean, I did feel pretty bad.
01:46Have you ever taken a ball off the body anywhere?
01:49Like, have you ever been hit by the ball so hard?
01:51Like, was it in the box?
01:52Was it in the outfield?
01:55I mean, I can't say I've been hit by one in the outfield yet, thankfully.
01:59I haven't let one hit me.
02:00Like, but definitely been hit a couple times in the box and not by that hard, though.
02:11Are you familiar with the Jose Canseco play of the ball hitting his head and going over the wall?
02:20I can't say that I am.
02:22I feel like I've probably seen it before, though.
02:27It is definitely worth a Google search if you haven't seen it.
02:32Wyatt Lankford here with you on 105.3 The Fan.
02:36What's one thing you think fans would be surprised to learn about you that they don't already know?
02:45Honestly, there's not too much to know about me.
02:49I mean, I play baseball and I like to hunt, like to fish.
02:55I mean, that's really about it.
02:58I'm a pretty open box.
03:02All right.
03:02What's the biggest catch?
03:08Um, as far as, like, as far as what?
03:14Fish?
03:16Um, I mean, nothing, nothing crazy big.
03:20Um, do a lot of, like, bass fishing and stuff, um, during the season, really.
03:26Um, and then growing up, I was one that I mostly went in Florida, um, back home.
03:32Um, I, I've bass fished a little bit in Texas on off days and stuff.
03:39Are you a guy, and I, I'm sorry about more fishing questions, but I'm fascinated by fishing
03:44because I love it myself.
03:45Uh, are you a guy that would work the trolling motor?
03:49Or are you a guy that stands in the back and just kind of lets somebody else work the trolling
03:55motor while you fish?
03:57It just depends.
03:58Usually, usually it's me if it's just me and my wife.
04:04Gotcha.
04:05Gotcha.
04:05So, so, if it's just you and your wife fishing there, you're going to work the trolling motor.
04:09Do you ever block people you're fishing with to get in good spots by, do you use the trolling
04:15motor to your advantage?
04:17That's what I want to know.
04:18You guys are like, okay, I'm going to put myself in a good spot here to cast, and then
04:23I'm having to try and throw over some, uh, some trees and stuff to get to where I'm at
04:27because you're working the trolling motor.
04:30Uh, it depends.
04:32If I haven't caught much in a little while, then, then yeah, but try to help other people
04:36too.
04:38All right.
04:39I got you, man.
04:40Why, you were a 2020 guy last year, and I think, you know, obviously everybody loves going
04:45up there and hitting dingers, and it was awesome to see the offensive outburst on Sunday, but
04:49this team has had some success playing more small ball.
04:53Like, is that, have you noticed anything different with the coaching staff and maybe what you
04:57guys are looking to do offensively to try and bring some runs across?
05:01Um, I mean, there's definitely been an emphasis on, uh, like working on it, you know, early
05:06work and stuff.
05:07We've been doing more bunting stuff.
05:09Um, and yeah, I mean, it, it's been working.
05:12Um, you've kind of seen it really all around baseball this year.
05:15It's kind of came back a little more.
05:16Um, so we, we've definitely tried to kind of implement that a little more, um, and it's
05:25been working for us, so hopefully we'll keep it going.
05:30We'll drink to that.
05:31Uh, Wyatt, can't thank you enough for joining us here on the Rangers Players Show.
05:35Give them hell.
05:35We'll be pulling for you.
05:37Awesome.
05:38Yeah.
05:38Thanks, guys.
05:38Thanks for having me.
05:41Cheers.
05:42There he goes.
05:43Uh, Wyatt Langford brought you by Golden Chick and by Globe Live.
05:46For over 125 years, Globe Life has helped protect families when they need it most.
05:50Globe Life make tomorrow better.
05:53Yeah.
05:53Dealing with a little bit of a delay, but thanks to the slugger himself, Wyatt Langford, for
05:58battling through with us, giving us some great answers to our baseball questions.
