00:00It was after an argument about money that 32-year-old Mr Manuel was stabbed three times
00:07with a kitchen knife. Following the attack, Abdul Karim left the flat with the knife still
00:14in the waistband of his trousers, taking his t-shirt off and using it to disguise the weapon
00:21when he reported Mr Manuel's injuries to staff in the communal lobby. When Abdul Karim
00:29realised the emergency services were on their way, he tried to dispose of the blade out
00:34of the window on the 14th floor, but one of the responding officers noticed Mr Manuel's
00:41blood on his clothing and arrested him at the scene. Abdul Karim alleged that he had acted
00:49in self-defence, but the nature of Mr Manuel's injuries suggested he had most likely been
00:55stabbed while his back was turned. Detective Inspector Luke Hampton, who led the Met investigation,
01:03said Daniel was murdered in a moment of extreme violence by a man he thought was his front.
01:10Abdul Karim of Bondway in Southwark was unanimously convicted of murder and possession of a bladed
01:17article in a public place at Croydon Crown Court on the 21st of May. He was sentenced on Friday
01:24to life imprisonment to serve a minimum of 17 years.
