00:00Guild Wars 3 wants to end a decade of MMO stagnation.
00:04I played Guild Wars 2 and Guild Wars 1, and while I had a blast, there were certain issues with
00:09those games.
00:10Particularly with Guild Wars 2.
00:12When the game launched, the economy went to shit because nobody was maintaining it properly,
00:17you couldn't find people to play with because looking for group tool wasn't a thing,
00:21the devs said that we are not going to farm gear which is 5% increase in power,
00:25instead it's just going to be skins and then, lo and behold, they added tier gear.
00:30And there are many other issues, so essentially what you need to do is very simple.
00:35You need to have these systems operational when you launch the game,
00:39otherwise it's not going to be a very good time for the people who are playing it.
00:42And not to mention, if you promise something, keep the freaking promise, otherwise don't do it at all.
00:47And I know the MMO space has become incredibly difficult to enter because
00:51you're competing against years of player investment, friendships, guilds, collections,
00:57and thousands of hours of progress.
00:58Not to mention, you're competing with already established gameplay systems,
01:03and in some cases certain games, like WoW for example, have layers and layers of it.
01:08So I would say the biggest concern isn't innovation,
01:11it's whether players actually want to leave their existing MMO homes,
01:15but in order to do that, you need to give them a proper reason.
