00:01More children of Malaysian Armed Forces personnel are excelling in their studies,
00:05with a record number scoring 5 A's and above in last year's SPM examinations.
00:10At the awards event, held at Wisma Paweera ATM in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday,
00:15Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin announced that
00:19446 children of Armed Forces personnel had scored 5 A's or better in the 2025 SPM,
00:25up from 383 the year before.
00:27A total of 181 students received the SPM Educational Excellence Award on the day,
00:34while 32 recipients were handed public university assistance
00:37and 5 were awarded overseas university assistance for their tertiary studies.
00:41Khaled said education was a cornerstone of the Armed Forces community's wellbeing
00:45and that personnel could serve with greater focus and motivation,
00:49knowing their children's futures were being looked after.
00:52He added that supporting military children's education was also a mark of appreciation
00:56for the loyalty and sacrifices of those defending the nation.
01:00The ministry has also launched a STEM education program
01:02in collaboration with University Science Malaysia
01:05at schools within military camps in the northern region,
01:08targeting Form 3 and Form 4 students to build a pipeline of science and technology talent
01:12from within the defence community.
