00:00It's the MVP, MVP, which right now, Lamar Jackson extending his lead
00:05by doing nothing in the summer.
00:07You love to see that at a plus 430 price.
00:09Josh Young, 6-1, Burroughs, 6-1, Mahomes, plus 650.
00:12Talk to me about Lamar Jackson.
00:15He hasn't even played yet.
00:16Why is he extending, extending, extending his lead here?
00:20Yeah, I think, I don't know, the Ravens win a preseason game.
00:24It's like, oh, they're back.
00:25They're so back.
00:25This is probably going to carry over to the regular season.
00:28The tricky thing for Lamar, I mean, the comparisons for Jokic are so obvious
00:33as it relates to the MVP races, where, you know, Lamar Jackson rips off an MVP
00:39two seasons ago where it was all about the record.
00:44He should have not won league MVP.
00:45He was not close to the best player in the league that year,
00:48but it was the old school, who's the quarterback on the team
00:51with the best record, give it to him.
00:53And by the way, I say old school, that is entirely how that award worked
00:57until last year, the two best quarterbacks were Jared Goff, don't kid yourself,
01:02and Mahomes, who was average at best.
01:06But that was swept under the rug all season by everyone but me,
01:09and now all offseason, everyone's like, you think Mahomes will get back?
01:12Oh, interesting.
01:12I wonder where all that conversation was last year.
01:15That's neither here nor there.
01:16Mike, the tough sell for me on Lamar in the MVP race,
01:20and I think this is fair, there's no way he isn't worse this season
01:24than he was last season.
01:2641 passing touchdowns to four interceptions,
01:29one of the best passer rating seasons the league has ever seen,
01:33and doing that while being such an electric runner,
01:37maybe the Ravens go out there and go 15-2,
01:40and the award resets to best quarterback on the best team,
01:44because the Ravens could be that good of a football team this year,
01:49and that's probably why Lamar is positioned how he is.
01:53But if we're going to hold his stats up against his own stats from last season,
01:58he will take a step back.
