00:00Pakatan Harapan felt that continuing the current political arrangement in Negeri Sembilan
00:06instead of calling for a state election posed too big a risk, says DAP Secretary-General Lok Siu Fok.
00:12The Negeri Sembilan Legislative Assembly was dissolved on June 5,
00:16paving the way for the 16th state election to be held within 60 days.
00:21The dissolution followed weeks of political tension, which was triggered last month
00:25when all 14 UMNO Barisan Nasional Assemblymen in the state announced that they had withdrawn their support
00:31for Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun over his handling of the controversy involving four chieftains
00:36who sought to remove Tuanku Murez, Tuanku Munawir as the Yang Di-Pertuan Besar.
00:41During a Negeri Sembilan DAP press conference today, he said when the Legislative Assembly convenes in October,
00:48the key agenda will be passing the state budget.
00:51But if it fails, the Assembly must dissolve and an election will follow,
00:55as the government would have lost its majority.
00:59Lok said taking that into account, PH decided the best cause is to return the mandate to the people
01:04and let them decide who should govern.
01:06He added that DAP has accepted the decision and was prepared to defend its 11 seats at the upcoming polls.
