00:00A 13-page letter purportedly from Bersatu President Muhyiddin Yassin has revealed the chronology of the Negeri Simulan political crisis.
00:09The letter outlines discussions between UMNO, PAS and Bersatu on efforts to unseat Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.
00:18The letter dated May 25 claims that meetings were held at Bersatu's headquarters on April 24,
00:24involving PAS and Bersatu leaders for the signing of statutory declarations.
00:29Later that day, UMNO State Chief Jaloluddin Alias joined discussions,
00:33where it was agreed that UMNO's 14 assemblymen would withdraw support before PN's five assemblymen declared theirs.
00:41On April 27, Negeri Simulan UMNO announced its withdrawal of support for Aminuddin,
00:46citing a loss of confidence over his handling of a palace crisis.
00:51Bersatu and PAS leaders then rushed to Seremban to coordinate a joint position with PN assemblymen,
00:57signalling readiness to work with UMNO to form a new government.
01:01However, Bersatu stressed that cooperation with UMNO was conditional.
01:05The party insisted it would only work with UMNO if the latter severed ties with Pakatan Harapan.
01:11The joint statement merely expressed willingness to cooperate with UMNO's 14 assemblymen to ensure stability.
01:17The letter also highlights PAS's silence.
01:21Despite repeated calls from Bersatu's Azmin Ali on April 28 and 29,
01:26PAS Secretary-General Takirun Hassan did not respond.
01:30Bersatu then decided that continued cooperation with UMNO was no longer appropriate.
01:35On April 30, UMNO President Ahmad Zaid Hamidi reaffirmed his party's support for the unity government,
01:42stressing that UMNO did not intend to take over the state administration through undemocratic means.
01:49Bersatu proposed that PN withdraw support for UMNO, but PAS again failed to reply.
01:55Muidi's letter concludes that PAS's silence has strained ties with Perikatan Nasional.
02:00He confirmed receiving a reply from PAS which will be brought to Bersatu's Supreme Council for scrutiny.
