05:34Oui, on a parlé à Catherine déjà.
05:37So Taylor, une question to you.
05:39First, on both of you.
05:41You said on Kurt that you've been away from your son,
05:44he's back in the States, I presume.
05:46How hard is it and how much time did you spend on FaceTime
05:49during those times and days?
05:51Because it's two weeks for me, missing my son,
05:53and it's crazy hard.
05:55So how did you manage it?
05:56How are you managing it? Thank you.
05:59Yeah, it's definitely not easy.
06:01And, you know, the longer stretches like this
06:04where it's been seven weeks for me, it's, you know,
06:07towards the end, I'm like, okay, I want my bed.
06:10I want, you know, I miss my dogs.
06:12My whole Instagram algorithm is like dogs now
06:14because I just miss like home.
06:18But I have sacrificed a lot since I have come back.
06:23And this is one of the things that I decided for myself
06:27that was going to be a sacrifice, especially early in his life
06:32and while he's been a little bit younger.
06:35And when he was younger, he didn't really understand as much.
06:38And now he's getting older.
06:39He kind of feels it more.
06:40And the older that he, I thought it was going to be different,
06:42but actually the older he's getting, the harder that it is.
06:46And so for me, I just always try to say like when I'm on the road
06:51and I'm making these sacrifices, not being able to be there
06:55for the last day of school, the first day of school,
06:58the last day of camp or first day of camp.
07:00I mean, my dad actually taught him how to swim yesterday
07:03and they showed me on FaceTime and I was just like, I'm so proud.
07:07So for me, these type of moments and these sacrifices that I make,
07:10I just always say like I make it count.
07:12And it's not always about the trophy.
07:15It's more so about the lessons that I learned, the person that I am.
07:19What am I bringing back home?
07:21You know, am I coming back the same person?
07:23No, like I've grown, I've evolved.
07:25I've managed situations, dealt with myself better,
07:29learned things about myself that I can then bring to him.
07:33Um, so, you know, that's, that's my mentality whenever I go
07:37and whenever I leave and I try to always make it worthwhile some way,
07:41somehow.
07:42And, you know, of course, winning a title in a Grand Slam.
07:46And it's, it's amazing.
07:48My dad, he was like, I taped the, the ceremony.
07:50So I'll show it when he wakes up.
07:51So like for him to be able to see me succeeding is, it means a lot to me.
07:55Um, but also to be able to bring back, you know, lessons and things that I've learned.
08:01And to come back a better person really drives and motivates me a lot.
08:06So it doesn't get any easier.
08:07It's honestly getting harder.
08:08But, um, for me, that's why I'm really just have my head down.
08:13And like I said, I'm more motivated than ever to make the, these years count in this time
08:19count because, you know, you never know how long that it's going to last.
08:22Um, and so I'm trying to give everything that I can and put my best foot forward to, to make
08:28an impact for myself and a legacy that I wanted to leave, that I want to leave when I leave
08:33the sport, not only for myself, but something that he can look back on as well.
08:38Uh, Taylor, forgive me, cause I didn't get to talk to you in week one, but I, I wondered
08:43if you could reflect on the moment you had with Coco on Chatria on the 70th anniversary
08:48of Althea Gibson's winning a slam, um, it's pretty heavy in terms of legacy and, and breaking
08:55barriers and all those things.
08:56And I just wondered, uh, did that kind of put wind in your sails for these two weeks
08:59here in Paris?
09:01Yeah.
09:01I mean, I wasn't, I didn't know that that happened until after the match.
09:04Um, and honestly I was fighting for my life during the match.
09:09I was so sick.
09:10Um, so I, I honestly like played and I told my team, like, I just got to get out of
09:15here.
09:15Like I didn't even, like I showered and I was out and went straight and laid down and
09:20was in the bed.
09:21Like, I mean, I just felt really bad even while I was on the court.
09:24Um, so I didn't want to take that moment or anything away.
09:29Um, but it definitely meant looking back because I didn't really get to relish in that while
09:35I was there and, you know, be in my right mind, so to say.
09:39But, um, it definitely means a lot.
09:41I think that, um, like I always speak about the representation means everything.
09:47And, you know, to be able to play against Coco on the court where, you know, she won rolling
09:52girls last year as a defending champion.
09:54It doesn't happen very often where, you know, you can click on the TV and see two women of
09:58color playing against each other on one of the biggest stages in Paris.
10:01Like it's really something special and I don't, I don't take that lightly.
10:05Um, and so, uh, you know, for me, I think that I hold it very high in regard to be
10:13able to
10:14continue to push these, these narratives forward and continue to represent us in the best way
10:19that we can represent myself, um, my culture, you know, everything that I stand for.
10:24And, um, you know, I feel like I'm doing it and, and without even saying any words for
10:29someone to be able to look at that or see that picture of us on the, on the court, I
10:33think
10:33that that speaks a thousand words as well.
10:35So, um, you know, I, I feel very honored and I feel like everyone who's out here now, who's
10:41a person of color is really making the legacies proud and establishing their own as well.
10:49Last question.
10:50Also big congratulations.
10:52Question for Taylor.
10:53I wonder if there is any progress in Czech language for you.
10:57Oh my gosh.
10:58Last time it was.
11:01How do you say this?
11:02Three.
11:02How do you say that?
11:04Three.
11:05Three.
11:06Three.
11:06How do you?
11:07Three.
11:08Three.
11:09Three.
11:10God.
11:11She, um, I, I'm, I've gotten very, I'm very good at saying please.
11:18Press him.
11:20You gave a thumbs up.
11:21It's pretty good.
11:23See?
11:23So I just be like, press him, press him.
11:27Champion.
11:28Champion.
11:30Champion.
11:32Don't laugh.
11:33I'm working on it.
11:35Is it still used?
11:38Nespit?
11:38Yes.
11:39Her dad tells me this before every match.
11:41He said, come on.
11:42Nespit.
11:43And I said, okay.
11:45Got it.
11:49Thank you.
11:50Thank you.
11:50Thank you.
