Freelance commercial photographer Kaitlyn Morrison moved with her son Adam, now 10, from Holliford, Colorado to Los Angeles four years ago after the accidental death of her architect husband, Brian, on Christmas Eve; Brian had designed and built their house, his first project, which became their home. This Christmas season, Kaitlyn is at a crossroads: she's been offered a more secure photography job with a company she enjoys working for, but the job is based in London, and she's unsure whether the upheaval of such a move would be beneficial for Adam, who is her first priority. She recently learned that he's retired, presumably because he misses his father, whom she admits had a more natural connection with him. She learns that the current tenants of the Holliford house are moving out, and that a development company has expressed interest in buying it. Although she's not yet emotionally ready to sell the house as a touchstone for Brian, especially if it were to be demolished, Kaitlyn decides to accept her in-laws' invitation to spend Christmas with them in Holliford, allowing her to take care of the house, among other things. Therefore, Kaitlyn expresses her desire for five more minutes with Brian so he can give her advice on what to do, especially what's best for Adam. As Kaitlyn takes care of the house, largely with Matthew Jamison, a freelancer who partially represents the development company, she notices some signs from Brian that Adam is thriving in Holliford, but she may not fully recognize the most important sign for her.

00:00:19How does Sandy eat all the cookies that kids leave out for him?
00:00:23Magic!
00:00:25I don't think he'd mind if we helped him a little bit though.
00:00:27Hey!
00:00:28It's time for bed, Adam.
00:00:30But we need to put the carrots out for the reindeer.
00:00:33That's right.
00:00:34Carrots are packed with vitamin A, and you need that for good vision.
00:00:38Well, then you better get them these stacked.
00:00:42Thanks, Mom!
00:00:43You know, Santa might miss our house if he don't get to bed soon.
00:00:46Five more minutes?
00:00:48Yeah, five more minutes?
00:00:52Alright, but only if I can get an Adam's sandwich.
00:00:55Deal!
00:00:56Come here.
00:00:59Oh, tighter, tighter, tighter, tighter, tighter!
00:01:06Can we ride on the trolley again tomorrow?
00:01:08Absolutely.
00:01:09And we're going caroling.
00:01:11With hot chocolate?
00:01:12I think hot chocolate while caroling is a must.
00:01:15Yeah, it keeps the vocal cords relaxed.
00:01:17Oh yeah, I've read that.
00:01:18Marshmallows help with that too.
00:01:20We love you.
00:01:21We love you, bud.
00:01:22Sleep well.
00:01:23Night, buddy.
00:01:28Love you, Adam.
00:01:30Love you too.
00:01:42I know.
00:01:45Are you okay, Brian?
00:01:47Yeah.
00:01:48It's just a headache.
00:01:50I'll be fine.
00:01:53What do you think?
00:01:55I think it's the best bike in the whole world.
00:01:59Right?
00:02:00Yeah.
00:02:01Now, it's time for our annual celebration.
00:02:08I thought you forgot.
00:02:10Forget our first Christmas together?
00:02:12Me?
00:02:13Never.
00:02:16We got snowed in.
00:02:18Yeah, but I kept you warm.
00:02:20And I knew I never wanted to spend another Christmas without you.
00:02:24And every Christmas since, it's been you, me, and chestnuts roasting, um, the bell.
00:02:33The bell?
00:02:34I forgot the bell for Adam's bike.
00:02:36Uh, there's a store just down the street.
00:02:38Oh no, you don't have to do that.
00:02:40We can just get it after Christmas.
00:02:41No, the bell's the most important part of the bike.
00:02:43More important than the wheels?
00:02:45Uh, equally as important.
00:02:47Yeah.
00:02:48When I was his age, I had a green bike, and the bell was the best part of the bike.
00:02:53I told Adam all about it.
00:02:55His face just lit up.
00:02:56Yeah.
00:02:57You should have seen him, Caitlin.
00:03:00Seems like a clever way to get out of helping me clean up.
00:03:03It'll only take me five minutes.
00:03:05And then, I promise you, I will be back to finish our dance.
00:03:15If I mentioned how much I love you.
00:03:18Get out of here.
00:03:20Alright.

00:04:59all right let's get a lineup one more time here we go
00:05:26miss morrison yeah oh hi miss polly
00:05:30i wanted to see if we could pick a time to set up a parent teacher conference after the break
00:05:35is everything okay we all adore adam we just want to talk about his social and emotional goals
00:05:40what does that mean adam's not entirely comfortable participating in class discussions or group projects
00:05:46he's a little shy he is but i'm worried it's extending outside the classroom at recess he'd rather be
00:05:53alone or skip it altogether and you're concerned we just take a holistic approach to education
00:06:00and sometimes when faced with the loss of a parent children can turn inward
00:06:06well i appreciate you bringing this up with me yes let's let's definitely meet
00:06:11great i'll email you some dates and please try not to worry
00:06:14it's just a meeting thank you have a nice holiday you too thank you

00:07:20hey there how's my favorite sister-in-law i'm fabulous colorado is the perfect combination
00:07:26of cold and festive that sounds lovely you okay not really what's going on adam's teacher says that
00:07:35he's struggling at school he's having trouble connecting with other kids she thinks it might
00:07:39be everything related to brian oh you two are really close i'm sure if he was struggling he
00:07:44would tell you about it yeah i thought he would but now i don't know you know what maybe you
00:07:49two
00:07:49need to reconnect with a holiday trip maddie i'm serious have you given any more thought to
00:07:55spending christmas here your parents are in new york with your brother you and adam should be
00:07:59surrounded by family and more christmas cheer than you can poke a peppermint stick at
00:08:04i don't know there is something else okay your tenants gave notice john and i were going to look
00:08:13for new renters but then we were contacted by jcm developers they want to make an offer on the house
00:08:18it's not for sale you know what just come get it appraised and then see how you feel
00:08:24you're just trying to lure me back to colorado i am you know i haven't even told you about the
00:08:31new
00:08:31praline toffee at the candy shop with the little flakes of salt on top okay that's not fair you

00:10:55cookie the ones with the chopped up candy canes i love those
00:11:02how long does it take to plan one day planning the yule fest activities is a big deal and you
00:11:07can't do
00:11:08it all in one day so tough decisions need to be made yes gingerbread houses versus a cookie decorating
00:11:14contest lots of agonizing choices very funny how's the world of commercial photography it's a little
00:11:22spotty but i'm actually working for this one agency and they're talking about bringing me on full time

00:26:02i was feeling a little down
00:26:03because i knew the next time we'd be in that stadium
00:26:05it wouldn't be on the field
00:26:06we'd be in the stands but
00:26:07he told me not to focus on that

00:37:21Oh, I couldn't tell.
00:37:23Here you go.
00:37:25Thanks.
00:37:25You're welcome.
00:37:27Matthew, I checked the food donation bin today.
00:37:30There was barely anything in it.
00:37:32Ah, don't worry about it.
00:37:33As it gets closer to Christmas, I'm sure it'll fill up.
00:37:36Yeah, I agree.
00:37:37People will come through.
00:37:38But what if they don't?
00:37:39What happens then?
00:37:41I say we host a fundraiser for the food bank here at the house.
00:37:47Honey, that'd be really hard to pull off this close to the holiday.
00:37:49Well, we could talk to Mr. Keyes and make it a part of Yule Fest.
00:37:54I don't know.
00:37:55That's a big job.
00:37:57It could be a good way to show off the house.
00:37:59You're for this idea?
00:38:01It could be a Christmassy kind of open house.
00:38:04Yeah, and we could call it the Yule House.
00:38:07And we could decorate all the rooms inside with different Christmassy things.
00:38:12And then we could sell the tickets and give all the money to the food bank.
00:38:16You're really excited about this idea, huh?
00:38:18Yes.
00:38:20Okay, I'm in.
00:38:29Am I crazy for doing this?
00:38:31What, for trying to finish the reno and turn the house into a Christmas attraction in one week?
00:38:37Yes.
00:38:38No, not at all.
00:38:41I mean, maybe a little, tiny bit, but in the best way.
00:38:46Adam seemed so excited.
00:38:49I haven't seen him like that since...
00:38:54What you and Adam are doing for the food bank is incredible.
00:38:58It'll make such a difference in people's lives.
00:39:00There's still so much to do.
00:39:01I hope I don't let anyone down.
00:39:04You won't.
00:39:05You sound so sure.
00:39:07I am.
00:39:09We can do this.
00:39:15How are the repairs going, Mr. Keyes?
00:39:18They're coming along.
00:39:19Rose sent me with some of her famous Christmas cookies.
00:39:22I look forward to them every year.
00:39:25Thank you for the special delivery.
00:39:27We actually have a favor to ask.
00:39:30Well, you're in luck.
00:39:32Because I love doing favors for people.
00:39:34Especially ones who bring me cookies.
00:39:37We're raising money for the food bank.
00:39:39So we're throwing a fundraiser at my old house.
00:39:42How can I help?
00:39:44Would you be willing to donate some free trolley rides to get people from Main Street to the Yule House
00:39:48on the night of the fundraiser?
00:39:50The Yule House?
00:39:52Each room is going to have a different Christmas theme.
00:39:54You know, we haven't introduced a new event at Yule Fest in years.
00:40:00I think it's about time we do.
00:40:03Count me and the jolly trolley in.
00:40:05We won't let you down.
00:40:07Thank you, Mr. Keyes.
00:40:13Did someone get a cricket as an early Christmas present?
00:40:16I work in an arts and crafts store.
00:40:18If I didn't have one of these, I would lose all credibility.
00:40:21What did Keyes say about the trolley?
00:40:22He's in.
00:40:23Great.
00:40:25So, we have seven days to decorate the five rooms.
00:40:28Who?
00:40:29Have we got the themes yet?
00:40:30Adam's trying to come up with some, but he hasn't gotten anywhere yet.
00:40:33He's outside waiting for Skye.
00:40:35She's going to help him brainstorm.
00:40:52Hi.
00:40:54What are you drawing?
00:40:56This is my favorite view.
00:40:58See those white mountains?
00:40:59Snow.
00:41:01Bright blue sky.
00:41:02There's nothing like an olive hollow fruit.
00:41:17That's my house.
00:41:19It's really good.
00:41:21Thanks.
00:41:22Still have to work at it.
00:41:24I'm working on my design skills.
00:41:26My dad was an architect.
00:41:28This was the first house he ever designed.
00:41:31Maybe one day I'll get there.
00:41:35Do you ever have trouble coming up with ideas of what to draw?
00:41:40Sometimes.
00:41:41I'm trying to figure out how to decorate my house for Yule Fest, but I can't come up with
00:41:46anything good.
00:41:47When I'm not sure what I want to do, I let myself dream and trust that the right idea will
00:41:54come to me.
00:42:09Go ahead.
00:42:11Give it a try.
00:42:12Just start.
00:42:14It'll come.
00:42:25I have something to show you guys.
00:42:27A neighbor help me make them.
00:42:29What neighbor?
00:42:30I don't know.
00:42:30A neighbor?
00:42:32Let me see.
00:42:46Oh, you scared me.
00:42:48Is everything okay?
00:42:50Yes, yes.
00:42:51You didn't happen to see a guy out there, did you?
00:42:53Not you, too.
00:42:55What do you mean?
00:42:56Is this like a family joke?
00:42:58Like the time Adam saw the guy with the green sunglasses or the Santa hat boy?
00:43:02You guys are silly.
00:43:04We are silly.
00:43:05Come on in.
00:43:09Look who's here.
00:43:11Hi.
00:43:12Hi.
00:43:13You drew these?
00:43:15He gave me a sketch pad and a pencil.
00:43:18And then I just started drawing.
00:43:20Our house used to be full of drawings.
00:43:24Sketches like this.
00:43:26Yeah, these are incredible.
00:43:28I mean, their concept seems sound.
00:43:30Layout makes sense.
00:43:31It's clear.
00:43:32I am very impressed.
00:43:34So there's a snowman room and a winter village room with Christmas trains.
00:43:40And a Santa room.
00:43:42I wasn't really sure about the last one.
00:43:44How about an angel room?
00:43:47What do you all think?
00:43:49I think we should get started, huh?
00:43:51Yeah.
00:43:52Yeah?
00:43:52Yeah.
00:43:55You don't have to stay here all day.
00:43:57I know you have a real job.
00:43:58You must be exhausted.
00:43:59I love what I do, so I never really get tired.
00:44:03Well, I can relate.
00:44:05See?
00:44:06It's another thing we have in common.
00:44:08What are the other things exactly?
00:44:11We both love Holiford.
00:44:13We love volunteering for charitable organizations.
00:44:17Christmas.
00:44:17Everybody loves Christmas.
00:44:19That is not true.
00:44:21My Uncle Kenny hated Christmas.
00:44:24Poor Uncle Kenny.
00:44:26He was so misunderstood.
00:44:28And Christmas is wonderful, but it can also be really emotional.
00:44:32There's another thing that we have in common.
00:44:35What's that?
00:44:37Empathy.
00:44:39Oh, looking good in here.
00:44:43Now, Adam and Skye are downstairs.
00:44:45Howard and I are heading home, but we'll be back tomorrow.
00:44:49Thank you so much.
00:44:50Yeah.
00:44:51You going to the Yule Fest Christmas Craft event this afternoon?
00:44:54I think I'll just stay here and keep working.
00:44:57Oh, no, you should come.
00:44:59You've got to get out in the world.
00:45:01You don't want to become like Uncle Kenny.
00:45:07How's everything going with your mom?
00:45:10Good.
00:45:11I think seeing the household decorated will convince her to stay.
00:45:14I think Dad would have liked us to spend Christmas in the house.
00:45:17Oh, that's nice.
00:45:19Good job.
00:45:21So now that you've cut the patterns into your luminary, the next step is really simple.
00:45:26So you're just going to take your sand, pour a little bit in the base,
00:45:30and then you're going to take your battery-powered votive, place it on top,
00:45:37and something really plain can become something really special.
00:45:42It's a five-minute craft that brings a season of joy.
00:45:45Yes, sir!
00:45:46Has anybody ever done this craft for charity?
00:45:49We're raising money for the local food bank.
00:45:52You mean sell luminary kits for people to make?
00:45:55Yeah.
00:45:55We can make them and sell them.
00:45:57We can write people's names on them.
00:46:00Or dedicate them to people.
00:46:02I think the Yule Fest committee would be very interested in supporting this effort.
00:46:07If Clara doesn't mind giving us a hand,
00:46:10I'd love to see luminaries up and down Main Street.
00:46:13I think it's a wonderful idea.
00:46:16And knowing my uncle, he will give you all the supplies that you need.
00:46:20Thank you all so much for having me.
00:46:22You did great!
00:46:26Did you have any idea about this?
00:46:28No.
00:46:29Adam is full of surprises.
00:46:33You have a very special boy.
00:46:37Time flies so fast.
00:46:39Hang on to him at this age.
00:46:40Make every minute count.
00:46:43I will.
00:46:46Yeah.
00:46:53Hey there.
00:46:54What's this?
00:46:55Uh, some extra outdoor Christmas decorations we had in the garage.
00:46:59We thought you could use them on the Yule house.
00:47:00Yeah.
00:47:01You know what?
00:47:02It'd be great to have some outdoor decorations.
00:47:04I'm going to start loading the car.
00:47:05No, no, no, no.
00:47:05It's cold out there.
00:47:07I will deal with that project.
00:47:09And you stay warm.
00:47:10That's why I married you.
00:47:12Mm-hmm.
00:47:12I know.
00:47:13Hey, has anyone seen the star for the top of the tree?
00:47:16I haven't come across it yet.
00:47:18Oh, did you check the basement?
00:47:20Uh, not yet.
00:47:21But I will.
00:47:22I'll check it.
00:47:22I can go there with you.
00:47:28Oh.
00:47:30What's going on?
00:47:42Hey, Adam.
00:47:45Look.
00:47:47That's how I remember him.
00:47:50Me too.
00:47:52Can I keep it?
00:47:53Absolutely.
00:47:59What's Matthew doing today?
00:48:01Oh, we're going to see him later on at the Yule house.
00:48:05I wonder what Dad would think of us spending all this time with him.
00:48:09Popcorn.
00:48:11Anyone want popcorn?
00:48:12I do.
00:48:13You do?
00:48:14Okay.
00:48:14Yep.
00:48:14Popcorn?
00:48:15Popcorn.
00:48:16Yep.
00:48:16Yeah.
00:48:17Butter.
00:48:18On it.
00:48:28Are you going to tell me what's wrong, or am I just going to keep working on the scariest
00:48:33Santa ever in silence?
00:48:35Sorry.
00:48:36It's Adam.
00:48:38Sometimes he asks me these questions, and I'm convinced that I've given him the wrong answer.
00:48:43Sometimes I pretend I'm asleep, or I inexplicably yell popcorn.
00:48:48Well, I think a lot of parents do that.
00:48:51Maybe not the popcorn thing.
00:48:53Maybe.
00:48:55Is there a particular question that Adam asks that's freaking you out, or?
00:49:00No, no, not in particular.
00:49:01Just tough questions, in general.
00:49:03I just, sometimes I wish I knew if I was getting it right with Adam, you know?
00:49:08Well, when I'm anxious, I make a worry list.
00:49:12So, what are you worried about right now?
00:49:14Well, I'm worried that Adam is going to figure out that I have no idea what I'm doing.
00:49:20That I'm going to buy him the wrong Christmas present.
00:49:23That he's never going to know how much his father loved him.
00:49:26Basically, that I'm failing as a single mother, and he's going to stop visiting until one year
00:49:31he comes home for Christmas, and he finds me buried underneath a pile of candy apples.
00:49:35Also, spiders.
00:49:42That was a lot.
00:49:44I know.
00:49:47The holidays are really stressful, and you have more stressors than most, so maybe you
00:49:53should give yourself a break.
00:49:56What do you say we meet up at Antonio's later?
00:49:59Grab dinner, decompress, glass of wine.
00:50:03I love wine.
00:50:06That Santa's going to haunt people's dreams.
00:50:09Yeah, I know.
00:50:10I'll see you at Antonio's.
00:50:12It's a date.
00:50:14Okay.
00:50:25Hello there, busy bees.
00:50:27Not safe for Caitlyn in here.
00:50:28Oh, my gosh.
00:50:30I thought you said we were going to keep it simple this year.
00:50:32Did you not see my shirt?
00:50:34World's best auntie.
00:50:35Oh, I've seen it.
00:50:36Just don't overdo it.
00:50:37Define overdoing it.
00:50:39We're done wrapping Caitlyn's gift.
00:50:41Okay, I'm opening my eyes.
00:50:44Whoa, Maddie.
00:50:46What?
00:50:46See the aforementioned shirt.
00:50:48Okay, Aunt Maddie, how would you and John like to watch Adam for me?
00:50:53Of course.
00:50:54Yeah?
00:50:54Yeah, what are you up to?
00:50:56I'm just, um, I'm just going to grab a quick dinner with Matthew.
00:50:59We'll be late.
00:51:02You know what?
00:51:03Take your time.
00:51:04Because it takes John and I a long time to spoil Adam properly.
00:51:09What are you going to wear?
00:51:11I don't know.
00:51:12It's just Matthew.
00:51:14I have a dress that you can borrow.
00:51:16We're just going as friends.
00:51:18Friends can wear dresses.
00:51:19It's not a date.
00:51:21It's not.
00:51:22It would be okay if it was.
00:51:25Yeah.
00:51:26You deserve to be happy.
00:51:28You know, Adam and I make a really good team.
00:51:32We like it that way.
00:51:35But thank you.
00:51:37I appreciate it.
00:51:39I'm going to go take a quick shower.
00:51:45Yeah, so the condos face the mountains.
00:51:47It's a beautiful view.
00:51:48That's why I need to secure the final property.
00:51:52Okay, how's everything going with Miss Morris?
00:51:54Is she ready to sell?
00:51:57Well, actually, she's thrown a fundraiser for the food bank on December 23rd.
00:52:01You should come.
00:52:02All the rooms will be decorated in different Christmas themes.
00:52:05Let me stop you right there.
00:52:06I'm not a Christmas guy.
00:52:07I'm a sports guy.
00:52:09Well, you could be both.
00:52:11So she's not ready to sell yet.
00:52:14She'll be ready to list it after the event.
00:52:17Then you can bid.
00:52:18See how it plays out.
00:52:20Okay, good.
00:52:21Okay, good.
00:52:22So how's everything else?
00:52:24The guys say that you haven't been around the site much lately.
00:52:27No, my guys are the best.
00:52:28They don't need me standing over their shoulders.
00:52:30It wasn't a criticism.
00:52:31I'm impressed by that.
00:52:33You know, Matthew, I've got a lot of pet projects in New York that could use your help.
00:52:37What kind of projects?
00:52:39Uh-huh.
00:52:40I thought you'd never ask.
00:52:41Look at this.
00:52:42This is my favorite.
00:52:46Okay, you see?
00:52:47You see all up through here?
00:52:48These are all subsidized units along with our regular luxury ones.
00:52:51And this whole area here is commercial space that we're going to use to share with the residents and local
00:52:58nonprofits.
00:52:59This is really different than what you guys normally do.
00:53:02Yeah, yeah.
00:53:04It's not going to be easy.
00:53:04I'm going to need someone to shepherd this project that believes in it.
00:53:08You know, someone that has a feel for community.
00:53:13I think that person is you, Matthew.
00:53:27You look nice.
00:53:28Oh, thank you.
00:53:29So do you.
00:53:30Please.
00:53:31Yeah.
00:53:32Thanks.
00:53:33Great.
00:53:35Thanks.
00:53:36I, uh, ordered a bottle of wine.
00:53:39Ooh, now we're talking.
00:53:41Nice to be out with a friend.
00:53:44To friendship.
00:53:49So my first job, they tried to pay me in linen pants.
00:53:54There's a dry cleaner and I guess there's a lot of people who don't return to pick up their linen
00:53:58pants.
00:53:58Wait, were the pants in your size?
00:54:00No, not even close.
00:54:01They tried to pay me in strangers' pants.
00:54:02So it's my job as a photographer to sell the thing, right?
00:54:07But I couldn't see what I was selling.
00:54:10Everything was beige.
00:54:11The backdrop, the table, the cat.
00:54:13I was a last minute replacement, so I didn't have time to do the proper prep.
00:54:16So what were they selling?
00:54:18They were selling the color beige.
00:54:20So why was there a cat?
00:54:21I don't know.
00:54:22Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree is an overrated song.
00:54:25There, I said it.
00:54:26How dare you?
00:54:27I prefer white Christmas.
00:54:29But what beats them all?
00:54:30The Christmas song.
00:54:34Thank you so much for this.
00:54:36It felt really good to take a step back and breathe.
00:54:41I took that job in London.
00:54:44I swear I'm more worried now than I was before I took it.
00:54:47I thought you wanted the job.
00:54:49Oh, I do.
00:54:50I'm just, I'm constantly second-guessing my decision.
00:54:53I mean, I want the stability of a steady job, but more than anything else, I want what's best for
00:54:58Adam.
00:54:59So I'm, I hope I made the right choice.
00:55:02I don't know.
00:55:02No, I get it.
00:55:04I'm actually considering a promotion, too.
00:55:07That's awesome!
00:55:08Yeah, but it's in New York.
00:55:11So I guess we're both at a crossroads.
00:55:14Right.
00:55:16You were brave.
00:55:17You decided to go for it.
00:55:18I just, I don't know if I'm ready to start over.
00:55:21Ready?
00:55:22I'd have to find a new dentist, barber, you know.
00:55:25That's such a hassle.
00:55:26Yeah, it's, it's a hassle.
00:55:30Listen, I know you were anxious before, like when we did the list thing and you're worried about making the
00:55:35right decision.
00:55:36But from where I'm standing, you are incredible.
00:55:38Oh, stop!
00:55:40No, I mean it.
00:55:41You're a single mom out there killing it day after day.
00:55:45You are smart, funny, creative.
00:55:47I'm a really good cook.
00:55:50You're incredible.
00:55:55I can't do this.
00:55:57Thank you for dinner.
00:55:58I'm sorry.
00:56:00I'm sorry.
00:56:03I'm sorry.
00:56:16I'm sorry.
00:56:25Hi.
00:56:34Hi.
00:56:36Hi.
00:56:37Is there a reason you're avoiding me?
00:56:40Avoiding you?
00:56:41Yeah.
00:56:41No, I'm not.
00:56:42I needed candy.
00:56:43Oh, but you didn't buy any candy.
00:56:47I was checking on the candy.
00:56:49Is the candy okay?
00:56:50Yeah.
00:56:51Good.
00:56:52Well, that explains it, because from back there, it looked like you saw me and then jumped into the candy
00:56:58store.
00:56:59And I didn't want to go in there because I didn't want to scare you, have you knock over a
00:57:03display shelf, run.
00:57:05Can we sit for a second?
00:57:06Yeah.
00:57:09Here's the deal.
00:57:11I was embarrassed.
00:57:13Am embarrassed.
00:57:14About leaving so abruptly from dinner.
00:57:19I felt something, too.
00:57:22In that moment, we should just talk about it?
00:57:27I don't think I can.
00:57:32Okay.
00:57:33Is it?
00:57:34Yeah.
00:57:36Yeah.
00:57:38So, what were you doing before you dove into the candy store?
00:57:42I didn't dive.
00:57:44It was a duck.
00:57:45I was Christmas shopping.
00:57:49You want some company?
00:57:52I am a great gift giver.
00:57:54You're very modest, too.
00:57:58Yes.
00:58:02I don't think anyone loves that hat.
00:58:06I don't know.
00:58:07I need something a little more lighthearted.
00:58:08I'm like, what about a silly tie?
00:58:10I'm like, what about a silly tie?
00:58:11Nobody ever wants to wear a tie.
00:58:13Ever.
00:58:13And then when we're forced to, it's usually some work thing, so it can't have gophers riding
00:58:18a llama.
00:58:19That's tough, but it's fair.
00:58:22Oh, I know.
00:58:23What about the cheese of the month club?
00:58:26You said you were a good gift giver.
00:58:28What?
00:58:29Who doesn't like cheese?
00:58:32You cold?
00:58:33What?
00:58:33Oh, no.
00:58:34I don't have to.
00:58:35I can't take your scarf.
00:58:37You didn't take my scarf I offered.
00:58:43Hey, I'm sorry about, about before.
00:58:48You know, I haven't had a moment like that since Brian.
00:58:52If it helps, I haven't felt like that with anyone for a very long time.
00:58:59It's scary to be vulnerable with someone.
00:59:05Friends.
00:59:07Always.
00:59:14I'm a little nervous.
00:59:15Good evening, folks.
00:59:17Caroling will begin in 10 minutes.
00:59:19Our first song tonight will be, We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
00:59:23Yes.
00:59:24Yeah.
00:59:25Woo-hoo.
00:59:26Told you so, right?
00:59:27Hi.
00:59:28Hey.
00:59:28Where's Adam?
00:59:29Oh, he's waiting in line for Santa Claus.
00:59:32I'm a little worried about him.
00:59:33He was kind of quiet.
00:59:35No, maybe he's quiet because he's mulling over what he wants.
00:59:37A lot of tough decisions happen in that hut.
00:59:39I think I'm going to go wait for him over at the sacred Santa hut.
00:59:43Oh, don't, don't mock the hut.
00:59:45Oh, no, I would never.
00:59:46Okay.
00:59:47Very serious.
00:59:47Good.
00:59:48I'll go with you.
00:59:49Okay.
00:59:50Bye.
00:59:50Yeah.
00:59:51Mr. Keyes, how are the repairs going?
00:59:54Slow, but I'm still hopeful the trolley will be ready.
00:59:58Keep your fingers crossed, Miss Maddie.
01:00:03Merry Christmas, young man.
01:00:06Come on up here and get your picture taken.
01:00:17You look like a gentleman with a lawn in his mind.
01:00:20Yes, I am.
01:00:22Tell me, have you been a good boy this Christmas?
01:00:26I tried.
01:00:28I think you were.
01:00:30I'll check the list later, but it's a gut feeling.
01:00:36Now, what did you want to ask me for this year?
01:00:39I want to stay here in our house, in Dad's house.
01:00:42Have you told your mom?
01:00:44No.
01:00:45Why not?
01:00:46I feel scared because I'm so happy here, but I don't want to make things harder on her.
01:00:53Sharing our feelings and being honest with the people we love helps us understand each other,
01:00:59even if it's not what they're ready to hear.
01:01:02I think you're right.
01:01:04Thanks.
01:01:06Merry Christmas, Adam.
01:01:08Merry Christmas.
01:01:15Wait.
01:01:16How do you know my name?
01:01:26Here you go, honey.
01:01:29Did you have fun tonight?
01:01:30You seemed a little quiet.
01:01:32I figured out what I want for Christmas.
01:01:34That's great news.
01:01:35What is that?
01:01:36I want to keep our house and move back to Holofrid.
01:01:41Oh.
01:01:43Adam, I'm sorry we can't.
01:01:45We can.
01:01:46We have a place to live.
01:01:47I can go to school with Skye, and you can do your job here.
01:01:52I'm so sorry.
01:01:53It's not possible.
01:01:55Hi.
01:01:56Why can't we stay?
01:01:58Okay.
01:02:00I was going to tell you, but I just got a new job, and I've got a salary and benefits,
01:02:10and it's in London.
01:02:12What?
01:02:13Yeah.
01:02:13It's going to be an amazing adventure for us.
01:02:16We're going to travel the whole world.
01:02:19It's going to be a fresh start for both of us.
01:02:21No.
01:02:22I want our fresh start to be here.
01:02:24Please, Mom.
01:02:25Adam, I'm sorry.
01:02:38I'm sorry.
01:02:44Are you okay?
01:02:48Adam told me that he wants to stay here, so I told him about London, and now he's really
01:02:54upset.
01:02:57Parenting is not for the faint of heart.
01:02:59You can only do what you think is right.
01:03:01We all trust you.
01:03:08And I wish I trusted myself.
01:03:10I know you'll find a way.
01:03:19Hi, honey.
01:03:21Grandpa dropped me off.
01:03:23You want to help me paint?
01:03:29Did you have fun with Grandpa?
01:03:34Okay.
01:03:35I know you're really upset with me, and I want you to know that that's okay.
01:03:41We don't have to agree on everything.
01:03:43You might even hate me sometimes.
01:03:47It's all right.
01:03:49But what I don't want you to do right now is shut down.
01:03:54Withdraw.
01:03:57Because I have loved seeing you here.
01:04:04Your confidence.
01:04:06Your voice.
01:04:07I haven't heard that in such a long time.
01:04:11I don't hate you, Mom.
01:04:17We're going to be okay.
01:04:20Wherever we are.
01:04:21Because we have each other, right?
01:04:28Hey, since this fundraiser is coming up in a couple of days, what do you say you and
01:04:32I spent one last night at the Yule house before we leave?
01:04:34Does that sound fun?
01:04:42Hi.
01:04:42Hi.
01:04:44Sorry to interrupt.
01:04:45I wasn't expecting anyone to be here.
01:04:47Just wanted to drop these off.
01:04:49Oh, thank you.
01:04:50Yeah, I'm just giving Adam a night in the house before we leave.
01:04:53He's having a slumber party with Skye.
01:04:55Sounds like a great idea.
01:04:56Yeah, I just set them up to watch some Christmas movies in the santee room, so they're basically
01:05:01in heaven.
01:05:02Awesome.
01:05:04Well, uh, have fun.
01:05:05I'll just, I'll put these in the garage for now.
01:05:09Yeah.
01:05:09Wait.
01:05:10What?
01:05:11Do you want to come in?
01:05:13Um, for a steaming mug of hot chocolate?
01:05:16It's the least I can do.
01:05:17You've been incredibly generous with your time and energy and...
01:05:21You had me at steaming.
01:05:23I'd love to.
01:05:26Jamie called earlier.
01:05:28He really wants the property.
01:05:30I mean, he means well, but he shouldn't be pressuring you.
01:05:33No, it's, it's fine.
01:05:35I turned him down, but I might have to rethink that if the offer goes up.
01:05:39Hmm.
01:05:41Well, you deserve to get the best price for this place.
01:05:45You stick with your original plan, then you can list it, and everyone can bid.
01:05:49Jamie, too.
01:05:50He's been so patient.
01:05:53And you've been amazing.
01:05:55I mean, you've made this place magical for me and for Adam, helping us throw this big
01:06:02charity event.
01:06:03It's the perfect way to say goodbye to this beautiful house.
01:06:08And, you know, I realized that for as much time as we have spent together, you've never
01:06:16told me anything about your personal life.
01:06:18Hmm.
01:06:20You ever been married?
01:06:21No.
01:06:23I, I got close once.
01:06:28But she left me after I moved back here.
01:06:32I was starting a business.
01:06:33She didn't feel like she was a priority, and she was probably right.
01:06:39It was my fault.
01:06:41But I didn't, didn't know what was important back then.
01:06:46Do you know now?
01:06:51I like to think so.
01:07:00I'm sorry.
01:07:02I know you're not ready.
01:07:10Yeah.
01:07:13I'll see you tomorrow.
01:07:17Uh, I'll see you tomorrow.
01:07:27Thanks for coming, buddy.
01:07:28Well, I never turned down good fusion food.
01:07:31Mm, good thing New York's full of them.
01:07:34Any developments on the Morrison house?
01:07:36Well, she just wants to get the best price she can, and she deserves to.
01:07:40So I think if you come up on your offer a little bit, you might get lucky.
01:07:45It's good to know.
01:07:48You're going to put a little extra something in your stocking this year.
01:07:50That's not necessary.
01:07:53But since you mentioned New York, I'm leaning towards yes.
01:08:00You are going to love it.
01:08:01No.
01:08:03Anything you want, you got it.
01:08:06So, um, what tipped the odds in my favor?
01:08:10Uh, there's no one to stay here for.
01:08:15And I know that now.
01:08:18Well, lucky me, huh?
01:08:22Oh, hey, I know you're not a Christmas guy, but I left some tickets with your receptionist
01:08:27for the fundraiser tomorrow night.
01:08:29I'll probably be working, but I appreciate it.
01:08:32No, I figured, but just in case you change your mind.
01:08:36Oh, hey.
01:08:50I couldn't resist the offer.
01:08:53I signed the contract this morning.
01:08:55I spoke to Jamie.
01:08:57He's over the moon.
01:09:01I can't believe this isn't going to be our house anymore.
01:09:04It's a lot to process.
01:09:10Come here.
01:09:11Hey, Jenny.
01:09:13Yeah, absolutely.
01:09:15I do.
01:09:16I have a contract.
01:09:18No, you know what?
01:09:19I have a contract.
01:09:21Absolutely.
01:09:22Yes, I am.
01:09:22I'm using the other phone.
01:09:24I think those days are worth it.
01:09:27We're moving to London.
01:09:30Yeah, I know.
01:09:33You know, I think moms and dads have a real hard job because they're trying to balance
01:09:39what they want with what's best for you.
01:09:44And I know how you feel about leaving Holiford.
01:09:47So I'm starting a new job after Christmas, and it's in New York.
01:09:52Everybody's leaving.
01:09:54When will I see you again?
01:09:59I don't know.
01:10:02But what I do know is that we can't know everything that's in store for us, so we just have
01:10:07to
01:10:09enjoy life as it comes, with its ups and downs, and be grateful for the time that we got
01:10:15to be together.
01:10:22Hey, I got you something.
01:10:39Come here.
01:10:46Oh!
01:10:47Oh!
01:10:48Oh! He's got it! Help me touch him!
01:10:52Help me!
01:10:56Oh!
01:10:58He's got it!
01:11:00He's got it!
01:11:00No!
01:11:03He's got it!
01:11:04He's got it!
01:11:05Oh! He's getting away!
01:11:07Ow!
01:11:09Damn!
01:11:14That was fun!
01:11:24You nervous?
01:11:27You know what? No.
01:11:30For the first time maybe ever, I'm really proud of what we did here.
01:11:36Yeah, me too.
01:11:41Ah!
01:11:42They're here!
01:11:42We made it!
01:12:01The trolley's here!
01:12:03Merry Christmas, Adam!
01:12:04Hi, Grandma!
01:12:05Oh, I had to be one of the first ones to see it all done.
01:12:08And we brought along a few friends to start the cavalry.
01:12:12Merry Christmas! Thank you!
01:12:14Hey, Mom!
01:12:15Hi!
01:12:17Mr. Case, you made it happen.
01:12:19I had faith that it would all come together.
01:12:22Well, you were right.
01:12:47The food bank has just informed me that we have raised over $5,000.
01:12:54What?
01:12:55Wow!
01:12:59The Yule Fest committee would also like to honor the hard work of Adam Morrison and Sky Julian
01:13:07with an award presentation at the Yule Fest finale tomorrow night.
01:13:24Hey, I'm sorry, man. I thought everything would be over by now.
01:13:28Oh, you're not here for the event?
01:13:30Oh, no, no. I gotta get a jump on things.
01:13:32I mean, this whole property is gonna get rezoned for commercial right away.
01:13:36Plus, I don't know how long the teardown's gonna take.
01:13:39Teardown?
01:13:40What are you talking about?
01:13:41Well, you know I lost the deal on East Channing, right?
01:13:44So, we needed a new place to build the high-rise.
01:13:47And, well, this place made perfect sense.
01:13:50They're tearing the Yule house down?
01:13:52Wait, you said that you were gonna keep most of the properties intact,
01:13:55especially the ones closest to downtown.
01:13:57Well, that was the plan, but then we went into a different direction.
01:14:01So, we like to keep the plans fluid. Right, Matthew?
01:14:04Wait, you knew about this?
01:14:06No, I...
01:14:08I mean, I knew they lost the Channing property,
01:14:11and we're looking for a replacement, but...
01:14:12I can't talk about this right now.
01:14:15Come on, Adam.
01:14:18Caitlin.
01:14:25Walk away from the contract.
01:14:27What? I can't do that.
01:14:28I've seen you walk away from deals where you lost millions.
01:14:30Pick another lot. I will help you find it.
01:14:33It's not that simple.
01:14:34I bought the house.
01:14:35I can do what I want with the property.
01:14:38It's what we do.
01:14:39Not this time.
01:14:41Why?
01:14:41Because the house means something, and tearing it down isn't right.
01:14:46I'm sorry, man.
01:14:47It's just business.
01:14:49I thought you said you were trying to change this company.
01:14:51Do things that were more community-minded.
01:14:54I am.
01:14:55So don't do this.
01:14:58I am asking as a friend.
01:15:01Please.
01:15:05It's a done deal.
01:15:10Well, thank you for the New York opportunity, Jamie, but I have to decline.
01:15:16Matthew, come on.
01:15:18No.
01:15:19It'll never be just about business for me.
01:15:28Ah.
01:15:30You know what? I just need five more minutes.
01:15:32It's fine.
01:15:33Adam went ahead with Mom and Dad.
01:15:34Oh.
01:15:35Well, you should go too.
01:15:38Mom never found the star.
01:15:40You know what? I'll go check in the basement before I go.
01:15:43Okay.
01:15:43Okay.
01:15:44We'll see you there?
01:15:45Yeah, see you there.
01:15:46Great.
01:15:47Okay.
01:15:56Ah.
01:16:16Ah.
01:16:32Is...
01:16:33Is this possible?
01:16:37Ah.
01:16:38Ah.
01:16:39Give me a minute.
01:16:41Ah.
01:16:43Ah.
01:16:45Ah.
01:16:45I wish...
01:16:46My wish came true.
01:16:47I wish for five more minutes for Adam and he's not here.
01:16:50I have to get him.
01:16:51I've been with him.
01:16:52He doesn't need five more minutes.
01:16:55Ah.
01:16:55I'll be with him forever.
01:16:58You'll see the signs.
01:17:01You both will.
01:17:03Hey, please don't go.
01:17:05I can't do this by myself.
01:17:08You...
01:17:09You are...
01:17:10You are so much.
01:17:12I'm just mean.
01:17:13Adam's kind.
01:17:14And capable.
01:17:17And he's smart.
01:17:19And generous.
01:17:22He's so full of love.
01:17:24Yeah.
01:17:25He's always looking for reasons to help people.
01:17:28Yeah.
01:17:28God.
01:17:31He's just like you.
01:17:35He got those things from you.
01:17:40You can do this.
01:17:43You've been doing this.
01:17:55Yes.
01:17:57I told you I'd finish that dance.
01:18:01I love you.
01:18:04Please don't go.
01:18:06I love you too.
01:18:14You sent...
01:18:15Four messages.
01:18:17The sunglasses.
01:18:19Santa the Santa hat.
01:18:21The sketches.
01:18:24You sent them for Adam.
01:18:26Things I wish I could have said over this last year.
01:18:31But...
01:18:33I didn't just send four messages.
01:18:36I sent five.
01:18:47I sent Matthew with the fifth.
01:18:52Matthew.
01:18:53I love you.
01:18:58You sent Matt.
01:19:03Friday.
01:19:16I want to join the class.
01:19:21You sent Matt.
01:19:23After we lost eight, ten to nine
01:19:27And I cried, man, next time to get in here
01:19:31I'll have to buy a ticket
01:19:33Can't you give me five more minutes?
01:19:40Time rolls by, the clock don't stop
01:19:43I wish I had a few more drops of the good stuff
01:19:47In honor of their outstanding contributions
01:19:51To the food bank and Yule Fest
01:19:55We present you with these awards
01:20:17Can we talk?
01:20:49Yeah, I was just going to say the same thing to you
01:20:49I think you're right
01:20:51Thank you
01:20:53You're very welcome
01:20:58So, what did you want to talk about?
01:21:02When do you leave for New York?
01:21:04I don't
01:21:06I decided I'm going to stay
01:21:09Watching everyone rally this past week
01:21:11Made me realize this is where I want to be
01:21:14It's my community
01:21:15This is my home
01:21:16I am so glad you figured that out before it was too late
01:21:23I hope we can stay in touch
01:21:27Holiford is not close to London
01:21:29But it's a few thousand miles between friends
01:21:32But it's a few thousand miles between friends, right?
01:21:34What if I don't want to be friends?
01:21:39Then I would understand you
01:21:44Starting a whole new life
01:21:47What if
01:21:48What if I want to be more than friends?
01:21:54What about London?
01:21:56I've been thinking about it
01:21:58About what?
01:22:01I like American football
01:22:05You do?
01:22:07And I like Holiford
01:22:09And I like the house
01:22:12That Brian built for Adam and me
01:22:15And I like you
01:22:19Matthew Jameson
01:22:21Food bank volunteer
01:22:24And partner in Yule House shenanigans
01:22:28Will you go out on a date with me?
01:22:33I thought you'd never
01:22:40Ask
01:22:48Hey, Adam
01:22:49Come here
01:22:52Close your eyes and put out your hand
01:22:58Open up
01:23:00I am so sorry
01:23:01It took me so long to figure out
01:23:04Where we belong
01:23:05Merry Christmas
01:23:06We're staying?
01:23:08We're staying
